Could somebody explain the popularity of the switch version of Skyrim? I see that it's for playing it on the go, but how the fuck do normies play Skyrim that they would want to play it in loud public areas? When I play Skyrim, I play for 5+ hours at a time in a dark room for maximum immersion. I have food, sex and piss and shit mods installed with graphics maxed out with mods. And I usually don't play quests, I'm just trying to survive in a harsh modded world where everything is strong as fuck. Do normies just take quests and fast travel to kill shit in a dungeon?

Normies dont even know whats an SKSE is even and will shit on how their mods wont work while trying to run it with fucking Nexus mod manager.

Let normies be normies and enjoy your impregnation fetish senpai. Already given birth to Balimunds third kid last month, and it feels good to be a loli wizard/housewife.

It's handheld and yes

You realize that your skyrim activities puts you firmly in the minority of skyrim fans? Not saying there's anything wrong with porn mods, but the vast majority of people play Skyrim for reasons other than fucking, pissing and shitting. Also, is there anything more immersive than cuddling up in bed with a handheld console?

>First proper portable version of one of the biggest games of the decade

Stop acting retarded, I don't like using that word.

You are a sick basement dwelling weirdo. Of course normies don't play like you. Not knocking you, it's just the reality of the world.

It will never happen, but I would buy F:NV Special Edition for the Switch in a heartbeat.

Sup Forums isn't the target market for this. normalfags are. tell them they can stick skyrim in their pocket and they'll easily shell out $60. also portability doesn't necessarily mean public, for me it just means not a hassle to take from point A to point B. i don't have to use it en route.

Honestly I don't get it.
My friend who has no interest in nintendo products asked me why anyone would want a switch last year, I mentioned that it would had portable skyrim to see how he'd react and his eyes literally widened. What is it about this fucking game that draws in these shitters?

>When I play Skyrim, I play for 5+ hours at a time in a dark room for maximum immersion. I have food, sex and piss and shit mods installed with graphics maxed out with mods. And I usually don't play quests.
Yeah, you need fucking help.

Your daily reminder that 2017 Sup Forums is just reddit that hates games and if you are older than 21 you are too old to be here and in the minority.

>The chad Link

How old are you?

27/m

I'm just breaking out of lurking to chronicle all the ebaumsworld normies (average modern Sup Forums users) roasting OP for being what used to be a normal Sup Forums poster.

Woah you played video games for 5 hours strait OP?!? What a neckbeard!

Why did they crank up the saturation on the Switch version? I think it looks good, because Skyrim always was too gray, but it seems really weird to me that just for the Switch they would suddenly increase the color.

>is there anything more depressing than cuddling up in bed with a handheld console?
FTFY

in all seriousness you want immesion buy todds VR patch or just have a decent size television in your living room and sound system. I have the latter.

Skyrim on the go is cool as fuck. Are you just contrarian or something? I put in hundreds of hours vanilla with no mods but even more with mods. At this point I don't think I would even want to go back to vanilla, however. Fuck it though, let the next generation of kids play it who never had a chance. Why not?

do a stream sounds fun

are you some kind of faggot, OP? Skyrim is certainly far, far from perfect, but it is literally the first real large-scale WRPG on a handheld ever, and it looks and plays almost just as good as on current-gen consoles.

Switch players like bright colours.

>First proper portable version of one of the biggest games of the decade
no
>one of the very few real games available on switch

I was going to write this long and complicated thing that was composed of at least 4 posts explaining in great detail why people like Skyrim, and why they like playing it vanilla, and how it roots all the way back to Morrowind, but then i realized that it would be a huge waste of my time and most of you are shitters that are just interested in driveby shitposting.

I'll give you a short version then i'm getting the fuck out of here and going to sleep:

-This shit is portable and new for (some) nintendo fans, and they have the same hunger anyone else has for open world RPG games, as the newest Zelda has proven.
-The sense of character progression has been consistently addicting in all TES games, it isn't any different in Skyrim, "but you can break the game and become super powerful" is not a valid argument, as you can break Morrowind in 2 minutes and Oblivion in even less, that's always been a thing in these games.
-It has what i call "cyclical replay value", just like Oblivion and Morrowind, what that means is, people make a character, play trough the game, get bored, come back to it years later and the game feels fresh again for a new playtrough, repeat, this ensures that when it gets released people are very, very likely to buy it again and replay it (Beth releases it strategically at certain points in time because they're aware of this effect).
-Most people literally aren't aware of what good hit feedback and good animations for melee combat even is, so they don't care that in Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim all you do when you swing a sword is mechanically chop up what feels like air even when you're hitting something and then the guy just ragdolls, they literally don't get/care that it can be executed in a better way.
-Skyrim, like Fallout 4 etc, is part of the trend Beth is pushing where they make their RPG more of an action game, and less of an RPG, thus making them naturally more accessible to a wider audience.

n conclusion, playing these games on 4K on your PC with a shit ton of sex tentacle futa on shota mods is how you play the game, but not how most people do, you're a niche, normies have their own way of playing this game and their own reasons to do so.

Fun things are fun etc.

Who doesn't like bright colors?

Anyone have the newer version of this image?

Non-nintendo platforms apparently. Not even trying to start shit but just compare monhun world's colours to 3U's.

MH4 and MHX were pretty colorful, MHX especially.
They toned down the colors on purpose to appeal to the western audience.
EVERYTHING about World is to appeal to the western audience.

youtube.com/watch?v=MnpNGzNoOY0

You can't even use the engine as an excuse.
Capcom uses MT Framework, wich is extremely flexible and can accomodate a number of different artstyles including very flashy and colorful effects, as anyone that played DMC4 and Basara can tell you.

>but the vast majority of people play Skyrim for reasons other than fucking
What are the other reasons?
Skyrim is garbage, porn mods are the only reason to install it.

This was insightful, thank you user.

>to appeal to the western audience
Are western audiences really against color, or is that just something the game industry believes? I keep seeing these brown and grey games coming out and can't see why anyone would like that.

>a notable amount of nintendorks probably never played it
>it's portable
>it's S K Y R I M

>That pic
Holy fuck my dick is diamonds now

>Are western audiences really against color
Let's put it this way:

The western audience is divided between nintendo fans, and everyone else.
Nintendo fans want color in everything, everyone else associates bright colors with kiddie games, they've been trained to think that way due to all the bright mascot platformers in the '90.
The market back then was flooded to the point where this stereotype is still fresh in most people's mind.

It's all about what you grew up with as a kid.
It's the reason why, for example, countries like Russia and such where gaming was almost always tied to computers all the way back in the day, aren't big on bright, colorful games, it's because they've been trained to see "darker" games as more serious and mature.
When you grow up with Quake and Counter Strike you passively accept a "divide" in your mind between these aestetics and it's hard to grow out of it.
I was lucky because i started with a C64 and then experienced most consoles and even an Amiga back in the day, so my taste is completely omnivorous, but most people didn't have this upbringing.
A big chunk of Sup Forums grew up on nintendo hardware.
A big chunk grew up on PC.
Another younger chunk grew up with xbox hardware.
All these groups are now influenced by their childhood experiences, even if they don't realize it.

Same for normies out there, it just so happen that the xbox/360 generation was the biggest one.
In conclusion yes, this "habit" can be re-trained but to do that you'd need to flush out a new generation making them grow up with colorful games.
And to be fair, we are getting quite a bit of colorful games, not just non nintendo hardware.
If you think today's situation is bad you clearly don't remember just how fucking bad it got during the COD/GOW supremacy era with brown n' bloom goddamn everywhere you looked.

BLING BLING WAAA WAHHOOOO's

I just so starved for games even a 6 plus year old game looks good to them

I wonder if Quentin is still smiling at us from the supreme gentleman heavens every time something like this is posted.

Because it's comfy as fuck?
PC for mods, Switch for comfy vanilla.
Honestly, I never actually played through Skyrim on PC, I just messed around with massive breasts mods.
I'm going through it on Switch and I'm having a blast, gyro aiming is great and there's even HD rumble while lock-picking, works pretty well.

Monhun's visuals needed to be reined in after gen and XX desu.
I don't have a problem with a more grounded approach to monster and armor design, I just wish the world was a little more colorful now that we've got some proper graphical fidelity.

Do laptops not exists?

Can you please stop using "comfy"?
It's not that it doesn't describe playing on "handhelds" propely, it's just that you've been abusing this fucking term so much it's losing all meaning now.
It has become the new "autism".

There's a reason brown and bloom became a meme

Nailed it.
Honestly, I hope they port Morrowind and Oblivion to switch eventually.

Fucking this.

Worlds looks so fucking bland because it's appealing to western normies.

wonder if there'll be a mod that tweaks it

To this day 4U had the best balance.
4U was the perfect sweetspot between realistic and colorful.
4U i think will always be considered to be the quintessential best MH game, i doubt World will be able to take it's throne.
Even if World ends up being good (the more i hear about it the more concerned i get), it just won't offer the same things 4U managed to offer, making 4U existance and experiencing it today still justified for years to come.

This is an online focused japanese game.
Mods will get you insta-banned and it'll be kept under heavy lockdown.
Especially after the whole hackers thing that happened in 4U with the custom quests, Capcom definitely wasn't happy about that.

Possibly

For PC at least.

They were colorful because you actually needed all that bullshit to even be able to see on a 3DS screen.
Did you even play second or third gen?

Loved how in 4U the screen got saturated when gore got enraged and in certain areas (like the ancestral steppe nest), a really good looking 3ds game.

I bought SKYRIM day 1 of the original launch date . . . for xbox 360 . . .

Todd, is straight up retarded for thinking throwing a zelda outfit will make his PORT any better.

For fucks sake, you can do anything for free on the PC version . . . even turn it into eroge

>They were colorful because you actually needed all that bullshit to even be able to see on a 3DS screen.

Wrong, this was not the case with 4U, it had a very nice balance.
And 3U before that was even more grounded and muted, aside specific things such as the color of slime etc.
In fact the extreme amount of effects in Gen and XX were target of a huge amount of criticism from fans because it got to the point where it would fill up the entire screen and make it hard to pinpoint what your character was doing, not to mention the alias and lower framerate even on N3DS as a trade off for all the added effects.

Opinion completely dismissed.

*desaturated

>Todd, is straight up retarded for thinking throwing a zelda outfit will make his PORT any better.

. . . but it's selling like fucking hotcakes . . . also why do you type . . . like this

Switch owners are just desperate for games. Skyrim is old as shit and it looks like ass on the switch plus no mods. People use the portable excuse but if you play games in public you should just kys because you're an omega male.

because switch owners are desperate for games. They will buy anything.

it's been SIX years and they're still rehashing skyrim

where the fuck is TES6

I refuse to believe anyone that plays Skyrim with access to the console and even simple mods like the unofficial patch want to touch any version of vanilla.

I run 150 mods through Nexus mod manager without crashes

Todd straight up said they aren't even working on it, they want to focus on other projects for now.
They'll release it, but far off into the future.
Anyway why do you even care, you'll just bitch about it and call it shit.
We both know it'll follow the beth trend: making the RPG side of the game more and more insignificant, and focusing on making it an addicting action game, and for 99% of Sup Forums that's not what they want at all.
So what's the point in even waiting for it to be released?
It's not even useful as a new modding engine base, as FO4 is pretty shitty and clunky to mod compared to previous games and it's only going to become more restrictive in the future.

>playing without mods in 2017

Does this thing actually run at a stable 30fps on the switch?

And did they fix the save bloat problem and and tons of other glitches and quest glitches?

>NMM

link to the piss and shit mods?

I play essentially the same as you. even venturing out of towns is dangerous and will usually result in being killed/raped by wolves. then there's the cold and food/water to think about. always thought adding needing to go to the bathroom made sense

Look up 'private needs'

>Does this thing actually run at a stable 30fps on the switch?
No.
>And did they fix the save bloat problem and and tons of other glitches and quest glitches?
For the most part these things are fixed in the Skyrim - Special Edition version (i tested it on PS4).
No idea if they're fixed in the Switch version, if it's just the base version then probably not.

>is there anything more depressing than cuddling up in bed with a handheld console?
Yes. Literally everything in the OP.
Also, the sad shit you wrote

Fuck Todd

play oldrim with all the free mods

i d...unn..o....

This game will be the most battery draining game on the switch. Like an hour, no more than two.

Most posters here would agree with this, not sure why you had to start it with a whine.

How fucking vapid do you have to be to care about colors in your video game?
Feels like only a literal underage would get a kick out of playing games that are brown + bloom because they seem less childish.

This thread reeks of newfags/normalfaggotry. What the fuck happened to this website.

You should really read my post again, it's more complex than you're making it seem.
What you play as a kid influences your taste as an adult.
Color is a single piece of the puzzle that is the overall artstyle of a video game, and preferences are estabilished early on.
It's hard to break free from old habits and confort zones.

Years and years of people calling each other's favorite games "western trash" and "weeb shit" here should make you understand that people develop specific taste and habits and don't break free from them for most of their lives.

This is what actual retarded people do

Sup Forums is blue Sup Forums.

>people (ninteoddlers) still call western AAA "brown" when they've been rather realistically colored for years now
is this 2009?

While it's true that nintendo fans autistically obsess over specific titles as "bad examples" (COD being the most autistically posted over and over and over for DECADES now, i'm so sick of nintendo fans bringing COD up, jesus christ, and Bloodborne as a more recent example that is always target for their unending hatred), that doesn't change the fact that most non-nintendo games are still pretty brown compared to nintendo games.
That's just a fact.
There's some examples but we still aren't out of the brown and bloom period entirely.
Maybe in another gen or two, assuming people finally get rid of aestetics with muted colors.

Yeah there's no doubt nintendo shit is more colorful than AAA games, but I don't think that's necessarily an advantage since some moderation is required with saturation to get a nice "real" feeling picture and devs are getting better at that. Today realistic color has a good balance of blue among other colors to give a real feeling, 10 years ago turning everything to grey was the default choice of devs, sure.

Basically I don't think nintenbros should use color as an argument, when some AAA games have a shit ton of work put into color for realism.
