0 as long as you understand all the games that place after it came out before Zero so the stories might not be as good
>tfw want to start with 0 but Kiwami is half as expensive
what do?
Kiwami, while a remake of 1, has references to events and characters in 0. 0 is the better game, so you should play Kiwami afterwards if you're itching for more of the same.
>Should
You SHOULD start with the first game on PS2.
Why would he do that when Kiwami is just an improved version of 1?
Just like Twin Snakes is an improved version of MGS1?
Yeah man just like that completely unrelated game that has nothing whatsoever to do with why Kiwami isn't just an improved version of 1
Play them ALL in release order
or
Start with 0
>playing 1
THERE IS LITERALLY NO REASON TO PLAY THE FIRST GAME
FUCK OFF
0, without question. It's a big, long game and if you play Kiwami first (which is just a cash grab milking 0's assets) you will burn out and get bored before the end of 0. Play 0 first and only get Kiwami if you must have more.
...
Zero. Kiwami is shit, and I'm saying that as someone who loves the original.
fourth post best post
For the next time you post this, add in people who started with 4, 5, or Dead Souls and roast them for thinking Akiyama should be the new protagonist.
Could someone give me literally any reason why Kiwami is worse than the original?
>tfw played all the yakuza games and spin-offs
>tfw did it in release order
i wonder how 0fags will handle jumping from 0 or kiwami to 6 or waiting for kiwami 2
looking forward to the kiwami 2 threads pre-localization since newfags never import
It's not worse.
But you should play both.
The original Yakuza games are just shit though
Why though?
it isn't worst, it's a bad starting point. play both
>favorite game is either 2 or 4
So close.
I played all of them but 3, I can't find 3 fuck off!
ebay buddy
>originalfags literally can't come up with one reason why anyone should play 1 when Kiwami exists
Fucking pathetic.
Why not? They're different. REmake is entirely superior to the original, but you should play both for the experience. Same here.
I've played both, cannot see a reason to start with 1 over Kiwami at this point. Maybe the trash English dub?
This is a trick. Play 0 and if you like that and want more pick up Kiwami.
I fucking hate that this arguing over original Vs new shitpost is in every thread. You faggots trying to tell me you're a Yakuza fan? A Yakuza fan shouldn't be shutting up the threads. You fucking posers.
Do you always use false equivalencies to try and win arguments?
I know right why should we play any old games what a waste of time just skip to the newest and pretend you know what the games are like
Again using other remakes as examples isn't a way to argue that 1 is worth playing after playing Kiwami. REmake is unique in that it goes against the expectations of someone who had previously played RE1. There are certain scenarios that play out completely differently in the original. Can the same be said for Yakuza 1 and Kiwami?
>0 is still fuckass expensive
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Is Yakuza 6 really that bad? Isn't the story all that really matters in these games? How are people already sure that its bad if they can't even speak nip?
>Isn't the story all that really matters in these games?
lol!
>Isn't the story all that really matters in these games?
I take it you're not familiar with the series then. Story is the WORST part of these games.
Why do people play this shit then? I've heard the gameplay isn't exactly the best either. What is the point of these games?
>he didn't play 1
youtu.be
>no response
So these games are shit then I take it?
Huge list of things you can do in the game like sidestories or mini games that can pass as standalone game (in fact Yakuza 6 will have established arcade games like Virtua Fighter 5 and Virtual On playable).
So many things that can distract the player from cheesy Japanese B-movie grade main scenario.
jokes on you 5 was my favorite
CGI Aika looks really awful here.
youtu.be
I've recently replaying 2 in emulator and seriously the lack of free camera during adventure segment is frustrating. I can't understand why some people insist that PS2 Yakuza games still in modern standard.
Start with Kiwami. You're kinda supposed to play it first anyway or else little nods in 0 doesn't make sense, and if you haven't played the games it's better to pay less to see if you like the gamestyle than to spend more and end up not liking it.
The real one looks like a tranny now. Here's the original. For those that do not know Japanese, they are doing the Jamie Lee Curtis speech in that video.
What's the song that plays in the arase fight in kiwami?
2,5,and 0 are my favorites.
But seriously, there is no reason no play the PS2 games. I loved them, but since Kiwami (and soon Kiwami 2) exist, there really isnt a reason too. I played them a lot when they first came out, but after Kiwami, I dont think I can go back to the original.
>in fact Yakuza 6 will have established arcade games like Virtua Fighter 5 and Virtual On playable
>Virtual-On
Can I pre-order twice?
I just want Akiyama as the new protagonist because I like him.
>starting Yakuza in 2017
you should drink bleach instead
Yakuza 6 has Virtua Fighter 5 and Puyo Puyo Tetris. Kiwami 2 has Virtual On and Virtua Fighter 2.
>You didn't start the series when I did? Kill yourself
Unless you bought it at midnight on December 8th, 2005 then you deserve to have your cock chopped off
I'm glad we came to an agreement
Others don't look that bad, especially Kirara who I think looks spot on. Well, Kirara is already CGI-like in life anyway.
My bad, I was mistaken. VO is for Kiwami 2
youtu.be
(virtual on around 21 minutes mark)
But then other than VF5, 6 also has all classic arcade games available in 0
Not like I wasn't going to buy Kiwami 2 but it's that much cooler to me now. Virtual-On was my childhood, I had a cabinet at my local arcade and it swallowed all of my quarters. Here's hoping I remember how to play.
am i missing something with the combat or am i just bad, i started with kiwami no i'm not going to set up my old ps2 and play the original 1 and 2 first and i have no idea what i'm doing, fury mode seems almost useless and rush seems like its objectively better than everything else. is there anyone who actually has a tutorial on how to get good at the combat or is it just always be in rush and keep dodging
Holy fuck that's so awesome. I don't even care that I already have it on Dreamcast and Xbox One/360. Can never have enough virtual-on
The only thing you need to learn to avoid frustration is how to counter boss healing with Kiwami finisher. As for fighting style if you feel certain one suits you more then stick with it.
