There's no objective best. Too many people think either game is the best one.
My personal favorite though is 2.

my 2 proves it's the best

We're any of the post PS1 spyro's worth playing?
Anyways 2 was the one i first played when i was a kid. Might be nostalgia but i'd go with that.

First half of 2 > All of 1 > Second half of 2 > All of 3.

None of them, pic related

The answer I didn't know I wanted but got all the same

2, 3, 1
But 1 wins for nostalgia and atmosphere. It was a different game from 2 and 3.

Here's the better question: which game had the best soundtrack?

Gross

3 because it has an early build of Crash Bash built into it.
Its even accessible in the ps3 and Vita versions.

Why the fuck can I still not download my spyro games on my vita in america, its fucking stupid.

lads

give it to me straight, just, red pill me the fuck out, stab me in the fucking chest with honesty

Should I hold hope that this is gonna be remastered like Crash at the PSX event in December, or will they remake Crash CTR first and then years later Spyro?

dear santa, all I want for Christmas is my purple little boy, I'll be good ALLLLLLLL year.

...

Remake means elora will actually look good and cute and that means more fanart and lewds so I too want that.

>implying she'd be cute in a remake

To be fair, Tawna in the Crash remake was pretty damn cute.

well i personally think that 3>2>1 in this case but they're still all pretty good games

It probably will be remastered. I'd expect it at E3 2018

>implying she wouldn't

2. It improved on 1 without overstaying it's welcome/rehashing itself with annoying secondary characters to gimmick itself up.

>implying she wouldn't
They'd give her pants.

Objectively?
I dunno.

Year of the Dragon is my favorite.

The GBA trilogy of isometric platformers are fun for what they are.
I hear good things about A Hero's Tail and the GBA version of the second(?) Legend of Spyro game.

N. Sane Trilogy did very well, so a Spyro remaster is almost inevitable.
I don't know if you should expect it at PSX, though.

Then they'd have to give the other goats pants too.

Loincloths and longer skirts.

post objectively the best music in the game, and the most 'spyro'ish

fuck nostaliga my shit up

1 had best levels and atmosphere but was a little rough.
2 improved some shit but got a little off course.
3 barely improved anything and went way off course.

1 is god like

1 is the best.
2 has the challenges which are very hit&miss.
3 forces me to play with characters I don't want to use.

Wasn't much of a fan of 3's soundtrack.

The first game had the best score. This isn't up for debate

youtube.com/watch?v=IiuqFkbydc4

Not even a fair contest:
youtube.com/watch?v=f4IbvdqyNcQ

The first one. Hover mechanic was a mistake, made easy already game even easier. Also, music and game seemed to have a soul. It didn't have trash minigames, just essence of these games. It actually felt like Spyro had to deal with everything alone.

If they give her pants then we riot.

>all these spyro 1 soundtracks
>no link to the one song most of us probably remember from TV
youtube.com/watch?v=vcCcmlZj0og

This. In 1 you have to do everything by yourself with the only help being a fairy kissing you here and there. But 2 feels more like a guided tour through a themepark because all of these characters show up throughout the levels, always one step ahead of you.

youtube.com/watch?v=y5UR0jDXjXE

There is no way in hell they made this, and Spyro isn't getting a remaster. I refuse to believe it. Surely they would of made a skylanders one if a remaster wasn't in the works?

>music and game seemed to have a soul
If you're calling the other two soulless I will fucking fight you in the street

It was different soul. The one that is less appealing because the rest of game is distracting you.

The first game had zero backtracking, too. Introducing new abilities in platformers is good for keeping things fresh and for re-interpretations of previous levels, but I'm just too autistic to be forced to retread levels

Yup. When I first heard about it I knew they're testing the waters for a remaster.
I'd buy it but I'm autistic about things taking up space in my house. It's a really nice statue though.

Don't tell me how I feel about these games

Spyro 1 has a certain charm, but I would contend that Spyro's identity didn't solidify until Ripto's Rage, and Year of the Dragon refined it.

This is true
I've owned the games since they came out in the 90s, play through em every couple years and there really is no 'best' one; they're all damn near flawless

>1 had the best music and atmosphere
>2 had the best gameplay
>3 had the most content

Best answer. Now for the real debate:

Crash or Spyro?

Skylander Spyro is ugly. Wouldn't have made any sense. No one is going to buy ugly merch.

gba Spyro games were comfy af

Spyro, honestly.

Spyro, but I still love Crash.

the other spyro game had a crash: warped demo

crash: warped had a spyro 1 demo

Crash sucks.

Imo both cater to different audiences with the way their levels were designed. Crash is more of a fixed track whereas Spyro is open ended.
3 was my favorite of the Crash games.

Spyro is so up shit creek it's not funny. It's not been rebooted twice with each one having less to do with Spyro than the last. The show having Malefor in it is the only redeemable thing and that's still the problem that they'll never acknowledge the original canon ever again.

Elora, move aside in HD.

Crash is more platforming action while Spyro is open world collect-a-thon with some platforming. It just goes down to taste.
I played both series to hell and back as a kid.

2 had the best boss fights while 1 had the worst.

Fight me.

>you'll never see elora and bianca mud wrestle for spyro's attention

>tfw the original canon was inventive and unique
>let's just replace it with generic fantasy bullshit
>and now let's replace that with SatAM bullshit

A remaster could save us, though
I wonder if they'd be able to get Tom Kenny back as Spyro

2. First Spyro's controls are very flawed. 3 gets fucked with stupid additional playable characters, forced skateboard memes and bugs that make getting 100 % completion impossible.

Fauns made me a furry

>fighting a sheep on stilts
ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!

>Bianca
>Giving a shit about Spyro
She got HUNTERED

>forced skateboard memes
Art thou fucking kidding me?
Skateboard was the shit.

youtube.com/watch?v=QPSLRvfgypM

I was going to mention this, kek.
I replayed the first game and that gave me a good laugh.

I agree but skateboarding was fucking top tier user don't fuck around

>bugs that make getting 100 % completion impossible.

Does this only happen in specific versions because I've played Spyro 3 a million times and have always been able 100% it.

Skateboarding was great until you had to do the hardest shit and you spent hours trying for that one fucking egg.

protip: he's shit at the game and is just looking for excuses

Soichi Terada > Steward Copeland
youtube.com/watch?v=trGSdWhdnQE

The second lizards challenge was a pain because I can't for me figure out how to go off a ramp without crashing, or just anything without crashing.

But tricks are easy peasy. I was fucking up left and right and I still trumped Hunters score.

Yeah but you can put a code into the Crash Bash demo and play a debug version of the game.

2 is the best imo. On a mechanical level it feels like a nice happy medium between the bare straight forwardness of 1 and the glut of alternate gameplay styles in 3. Subjectively I love the level themes and OST more than the other games'.

Wasn't Elora jealous of her at some point? My memory of 3 is foggy.

No, they never meet, even in the epilogue of 3.

1 > 3 > 2 for me, purely because of how they handle backtracking:

First game has none.
Second game has all those stupid unavoidable ladders and headbash obstacles that force you to go back no matter what
Third game has those locked off animal buddy portals, but literally all of them are incredibly easy to glitch into so there's basically no backtracking if you break the game right.

That issue aside, though, I think I find Spyro 2 to be the most enjoyable to play. I just hack in lader and headbash skill from the start whenever I play it, though.

>2 and 3 used to be regarded as better than 1
>lived long enough to see everybody here turn their backs on 2 and 3 because 1 is the most "pure" or some bullshit
2 is the best, it's a good compromise between the emptiness of 1 and the overload of minigames and side characters that is 3

First one by a landslide. 2&3 are fighting for a silver medal that doesn't matter.

...

2 improved nothing over 1 beyond the swimming and the bosses.

IIRC, apparently there was a bug that prevented from you completing the Hunter missions if you don't get around to doing them on your first visit to a speedway.

All of the major bugs (like mentioned before and wrong music being played) of Spyro 3 were fixed in the Greatest Hits version. Spyro 3 was probably the most blatantly rushed of the trilogy.

Weird, I could have sworn they interacted at some point in 3.
Oh well.

3 clearly had the best bosses.

There's literally four levels in 2 that require backtracking, it's hardly a persistent annoying problem.
>Glimmer - need climbing
>Sunny Beach - need climbing
>Fracture Hills - need headbash
>Shady Oasis - need headbash
Each of those levels can be like 95% complete before you leave the first time, all that will be missing is one orb and maybe a few gems.

Ripto's rage was really fun

I'm about to binge through the fan wikia

2 went full retard with the mini games and fetch quests but it's sad that it tarded the music and art direction of the original for cheaper stuff.

The backtracking is only half of the problem with the levels in 2.

What's the other half, that they're larger, more competently designed, and have more shit to do than the levels from 1?

There's also a cheat code that gives you swimming, climbing and headbash

You're not crazy, they did meet. In the Berenstein universe.

I'm curious why 2 was missing a Spring themed world when they had Summer/Autumn/Winter

The first world in YotD is Sunshine Springs

>more competently designed
You must be fucking high.

>posting one of the most horrid stages in the game
Wew lad, it's like you're not even trying.

>have more shit to do than the levels from 1
Ah, the retard mentality Nintendo likes so much that mistakes quantity for quality.

>Only owned 3 as a kid and only played through a bit of 1/2 at friends places
>Played the shit out of 3
>Recently found 1/2, enjoyed both of them very much
>now have no idea what my favorite is
They're all very good games so it's hard to judge what makes one better than the rest. My biggest complaint about 3 after playing the others is that it feels bloated with so many minigames. I dislike replaying it and going for 100% because of the 2nd egg from Bentley boxing, but the rest are only slightly tedious

2 is best
3 is okay
1 is pretty bad

Yeah I've never seen people say so much shit to Spyro 2, what the fuck happened? Did some random youtuber make a video or something?

Go get that brain tumor of yours checked asap.

People replayed it. I sure did and was downright appalled at how much of a shit eater fucktard I used to be to think that this game could pass as the best anything with all the idiotic shit developers came up with. 3D technology put them onto a quest for bullshit very fast.

Yes but it wasn't in 2 where it would have fit with the theme.

>oh shit I got no refutations
>better break out the good ol console shitflinging instead
Guess that's what I get for responding to a tard. You go head and enjoy your Tree Tops bullshit and defend it as requiring "skill", user.

le epic contrarian ironic shitposters most likely

It's called sunrise spring because of the water though. 3 was themed after times of day.
