Is the >Playing western games in current year meme partially true?
(Relevant to my favorite genres - RPGs and action-adventures.) Bait question aside, I really do like a lot of western games. But, I'm having a hard time enjoying them on work days. The games I play are plot-heavy, and it feels like in western games the plot is very complex in a sense that it is very hard to digest without being fully engaged. I'm getting the sense Japanese games are lighter in tone. They have an OK to pretty fun gameplay, plenty of anime eye-candy, and the plot is multi-layered in a way you can enjoy the breadth of the story without understanding its depth for times when you just need to wind down.
Also, please suggest Japanese action adventures and RPGS that are meh to great, with lots of anime babes

When nearly all western games are objectively shit and there are only 1 or 2 exceptions per YEAR I feel very inspired to say ">Playing western games" unironically, yes. You just started to realise this fact of life a bit late. But anyone with tastes will eventually grow up to understand that indeed japanese games have always been better, and western games were only ever on par in the late 90's up until very early 2000's, before and since then japanese games absolutely dominate in quality, gameplay mechanics, originality, and being memorable. Unfortunately most of the western way of thinking was being at the "cutting edge" of tech, which innevitably grew to become this huge AAA shit industry (and it'll only get bigger, with more and more small western AA devs dying every gen, most of them died last gen though). Either that or Crowdfunding scams promising "ON THE EDGE OF TECHNOLOGY AND SCOPE" concepts but never delivering.

Although off the top of my head I guess GravityRush and Yakuza franchises counts as "action adventure" ? Jrpgs are super easy to find, just google search them.

Most modern Western games are bad because they're unpolished. They make these rough games that aren't particularly fun to play and don't care to iron out the kinks. All that matters is that it looks good, and often times it really doesn't look anywhere close to what the media claims it to be.
