So someone I speak to rather frequently recently briefly mentioned discussing some vidya news with his discord friend group, and I've been thinking about it ever since.
Honestly, I'm jealous lol. I play mostly single player games aside from League or Overwatch, seldom, when a friend of mine begs me to play.
How would I even go about finding or creating, let alone keeping an online vidya-based social circle alive?
I just really want to share music and memes and play vidya with cool people that I get along with
you make friends or join a small clan that plays a game you like regularly. I already had friends who I'd speak to on Steam/Mumble, so I have like 3 different groups of friends on different discord channels and we just talk about whatever while sharing retarded memes and occasionally playing vidya.
Eli Brooks
Do you have friends?
Why not just join your friends group
Aaron Powell
I don't play many games with "clans" or anything like that I do play Final Fantasy XIV, which I'm going to unsub from pretty soon. I run a solo FC on the 3rd least populated NA server. It's a terrible experience
I have a few that I speak to. I feel like I'd be intruding, or it'd be weird of me to ask to join a circle like that. I'm not even sure if I'd get along with them, and it'd be weird to disappear within a week if I decide I don't really get along
Plus, most groups are pretty xenophobic already
Kayden Flores
If you try and join any type of group they will pretty much always make use of it, some even use it as their main platform for communication.
I use it for a arma group since it's easier to communicate with the group using it.
Hudson Turner
So you want to make an online group without your friends and you don't play much multiplayer?
Liam Powell
The people I talk to are basically acquaintances and even then, it's only ever maybe 3 I guess what I want is to meet cool people that I click with? But I don't think anyone can really help me with that.. This thread was made as like a last-ditch or something for ideas
Isaiah Bell
Well you don't make a group to meet new people.
You need a group, then you add more into it.
Easton Diaz
Just join one of the /vg/ discord groups. They are all circlejerks but it doesn't sound like you are looking for actual friendship here.
Xavier Butler
I only use discord for erping, sorry.
Carter James
After a while you begin to realise that Sup Forums is all you'll get and all you really deserve.
Isaiah Lopez
>I don't want to intrude on other people >I want a group to meet new people
You misinterpreted something or I didn't elaborate enough
I want to meet cool people, to form a group with
I don't want to join a group to meet people, although that is certainly an option
Thanks for this but I don't really play anything on my PS4
William Sanchez
So you're coming here to meet cool people who want to join your discord?
Jose Rogers
no op, i'm not interested in joining your discord
Josiah Edwards
>join small server with less than 30 actives >make friends with only the cool people >make your own server and invite them through DM >make fun of the shitty people from the first server in the second server >play vidya
Mason Butler
As cool as it'd be, that probably wouldn't work out too well
I was looking for ideas to find cool vidya people or something
i should have known better
James Green
>mfw have like 20 people in my discord server and a solid group of friends there that i talk to, play with and watch shit with on a daily basis ive known those people for years too
Jace Perez
Well the easiest way is just to find other discords of interests you have and join them
Josiah James
You could try to introduce your friends to each other and hope they hit it off Then invite them all to a discord group.
Matthew Phillips
I'd only be able to reliably seek out groups via /vg/ for video games. And then my options are limited to the one for FFXIV, league of legends, and overwatch
I've actually tried this before, they greet each other a bit and then within the following week, despite my attempts to stimulate conversation or activity, it's a ghost-town
Levi Butler
Maybe you're boring?
Really if you aren't playing a game regulary with each other people are just going to gravitate to their first hangouts where they play games and post stuff
Samuel Stewart
this
Nolan Williams
I'm not really sure what to do if that's the case the fact that I want as far as to make a thread on Sup Forums is pretty embarrassing ngl maybe it's time to come to terms with the way things are
Henry Johnson
Maybe you should explain what you like
What type of music , vidya ect
Juan Long
I'm a pretty big rap/hip-hop head. I like abrasive and energetic rock music like math rock post-hardcore, or stuff with noise influence. I like jangle pop, shoegaze, chillwave, hypnagogic pop like Neon Indian and blue wave too. I'm also into trance, jungle, and idm. I'm also a weeb so Japanese variants of genres are cool too
In the way of video games, I'll try mostly anything. I like games I can be competitive in, but lately not so much on my own for obvious reasons. I like MMOs a lot because I'm very fond of creating your own character and working with a class/role system. I like fighting games even though I don't practice enough to be any good. My favorite company is crapcom, my favorite video game is E.X. Troopers
Logan White
JUST JOIN AS MANY SERVERS AS POSSIBLE AND TALK TO PEOPLE ABOUT THINGS THAT INTEREST YOU AND YOU MIGHT STUMBLE ACROSS COOL PEOPLE
Chase Clark
>join game >follow someone around >follow them around the entire game and defend them, attack who they're attacking, generally be their bro >9/10 times they send you a friend request after the game the trick is to do it not as a medic because they'll know you're personally helping them and not just healing them because you need to
Evan Diaz
In Smite and Paladins I'd get requests from playing support, but I think it's because in Hi-Resz games, the impact supports have is much more noticeable than others.
