>Hellblade Hits 500K Sales in 3 Months

...

Master race wins yet again

Good for them. Hopefully more experimental game models will happen at higher production points.

Isn't the game a borefest?

>Tameem survives to make more shitty games
Fuck this gay earth

Maybe he makes a good game for once? He just needs to get over the early nineties pretentious edge.

I had no idea this game was already released. Wtf nobody talks about it in here. kek.

I dont believe that.
Even on torrent site the game barely has any snatches.

I had fun with it. Really was great with headphones like they said. Kind of disturbing. More so for me because I've had experience with the subject.

It is the least shitty Ninja Theory game so far though. Admittedly still not good as such, but they're slowly improving.

This also shows to other studios that the model can work, and if an actual good studio starts making these "pseudo-indie" games, something great might come out of it.

It's a pretty good game. The lore is top tier, the story is good, the combat is okay-ish but repetitive and simple, the puzzles are meh tier and the environments and graphics are good.

Worth a play if you don't have anything else to do OR if you are into norse mythology.

never heard of this game

Look by the way the text is structured.
It clearly list how much and when units here shipped, and now try to name another company that was so public about their numbers.
Seems to me this is a piece to convince investors or something.

wow that is even worse than DmC.

Even that abortion hit 500k in a month

They have 180K total sales on steam.
I dont know where these numbers are coming from.

>never heard of this game

it;s an "action" game made by the same people who fucked up the Devil May Cry reboot

Oh well in case fuck em

Cool, I think is great.
Personally the game disapointed me a little, started strong and the bosses were cool, but repeated itself to much and the parts were you couldn't fight weren't interesting.
But I think in the state the industry is now, turning back to AA games is the solution both for gamers and publishers. Viable alternatives to indies and triple A games are needed.

>A lower budget game with smart spending made profits

Color me surprised

Reminds me of when people try to imply that Crysis made no money because it was a PC exclusive with high system requirements.

But this and Enslaved were good games.

I hope there's a future for games that are between indie and AAA to thrive, there's potential for some cool games to come out of it.
It's a shame that big publishers have gone towards less releases but with each one marketed more heavily to reduce risk since even torrid shit like battlefront 2 will sell millions if it has a wide appeal with an established fanbase to leech off from, and I doubt that will change anytime soon.

>norse mythology.

It's it celtic?

>Game sold as digital only

Unfortunately all successful Indie developers are ex-AAA employees and I expect this trend to continue.
The big Indie boom in the 80s where people were called "bedroom coders" ended up with people joining up and creating products.
Today Inde devs are very different to the point of being selfish, they want everything wile doing none of the heavy lifting aka actually doing something that will put the spotlight on them.

so? maximum profit. we all knew it would end like this, same shit will happen with comics. just like music.

>But this and Enslaved were good games.
*inhales*

ballsy statement. i disagree. whats your idea of success?

Doing a product that people want.
There is enough 2D platforms, nobody is breaking any new ground here.
There are tons of abandoned IPs out there with alive communities that are hungry for a remaster or new content.
I tried to gather people for a project on /agdg/ that is surely gather media intention but all I got was the occasional shrug while everyone is complaining ho their game sold 5 copies.
I mean as long as thing pride I would say that everyone ant to be the next Minecraft, nothing is going to change.

Yeah, but with games you might want to lend it to someone or resell it. There's no reselling digital copies.
And is it really happening with comic books? I'm not into them but I assume collectors are a big chunk of their customers.

>attention*
>how*
and the test

>I tried to gather people for a project on /agdg/ that is surely gather media intention but all I got was the occasional shrug while everyone is complaining ho their game sold 5 copies.
Ah, the ideas guy

Game was a stepping stone for ASMR in vidya.

Im actually releasing a game with Devolver, this was something for the future.

Not in a million sales.

Yeah it's garbage and a prime example of why many indie companies deserve to go out of business: they produce garbage "story" games

undertale made it and im sure tobi wanst a pro.
>one examploves the rule wrong
no but like, you dont need to make absolute bank to be succesfull hell many games get enoughs support to get sequels thats success to me.

big sales happen on different front cover/ collectibles yes but the industry is bleeding fans and they are all going to indies and online comics/ blogs.

>almost no downloads on trackers
lol Im sure it sold millions

As I stated every Indie developer wants to be next next huge thing.
Sorry to crush your dreams but Tobi is one in a million and there is rent to pay.

okay, what gives pros the launchpad to make it beyond the indies? bigger budgets? cliffy is always bitching that the bigger games make it harder for them to make profits. so i guess its all based on skill? well guess what, get good and you will "make it"

>walking Simulator
>hailed by blue checkmarks as an “””””””””important”””””””””” video game
No thanks, I’ll pass

>500k sales
So it flopped? Those are some terrible fucking numbers.

i think it tried to tackle the idea of schizophrenia.. it tries.

>what gives pros the launchpad to make it beyond the indies?
Industry media contacts?
Are you fucking kidding me,they always get coverage for every game they make see at Supergiant Games the owner was for years at Gamespot reviewing games.
They know each other personally, watch any video and they usually reveal how they were in contact before on game X the AAA studio was making.
Most of them are even the same generation and know eachother through friends.

its indie and cost under 1 milli to make, its a massive success. its also digital only.

I'm really glad this game sold well. I'm really glad Ninja Theory finally have the financial hit that they always deserved. I'm really glad Ninja Theory was capable of crafting a AAA game with only their own money, and zero publisher backing. And I'm REALLY really glad that there exists a consumer base that can make projects like Hellblade successful and viable in today's gaming market.

Basically, I'm really glad Hellblade exists.

you got me.

Buying this game at anything lass than its MSRP is a crime and you know it.

My point was not to "get you" but to point out that in order to make it you have to steal the spot light and people are lazy.

Thank you for not falling for the /x/ bait, anons

I'm just glad pictures of bottomless girls exist on the internet.

This thread once again proves that Sup Forums has absolutely no clue about gaming industry and wants to see everything as flop.
To the contrary, no, games don't sell millions on every release. And no, million sales don't have to be minimum to make a massive profit.

>cost under 1 milli to make
You have no idea what you're talking about.

I don't think anyone is saying that except few lost souls but to me that text looks like bought piece to increase their market value.
They didn't get much media attention, they didn't get much pirate attention if at all and people are not talking about it.
Yet they claim the shipped over 500K units.
Something is not right, those are not small numbers.

With what said, and combining the sales on PS4, they probably reach those numbers. If they say the game has been a success, I have no reason to not believe them. They won't become rich, but they probably earned good profits.
Also, iirc, the game was self published, so everythibg they gain goes to them.

> If they say the game has been a success
Oh if they really are those numbers no doubt.
Considering its Unreal game,on selling on Steam and PS4 store I would say they lost 40% of the total revenue plus whatever they had to pay the 20 people, which means nice chunk of money is left.

it deals with norse mythology, but you play as a celt -- pict to be exact.
