Is there any reason not to play the Enhanced Edition...

Is there any reason not to play the Enhanced Edition? Only CRPG I've ever played was Planescape and I was fine with the UI.

No. You don't have to take the new NPCs if you don't want to. Just don't play the Siege of Dragonspear expansion.

There really isnt any reason not to play ee, especially if you olan on taking your character to bg2. Lots of QoL improvements, though if you want a more difficult experience then og baldurs gate is the way to go

I am also interested in that.

Apart from adding shitty new (and optional) characters, what did EE versions of BG, ID and PT do wrong?

but how do I know who the new NPCs are

The only reasons to not play EE is elitism, purism and the ungodly terrible waifu-fags.

Can only speak for bg, but imo nothing. EE version is a straight improvement.

Holy shit, at least fucking skip the first one, it's shit. The second one is much better in every regard. There is no need to play the first

They are voiced.

The new NPCs are the ones with the voices that don't really sound like they fit in with the rest.

What about the plot, you dumb cunt?

First game is different but not bad, much more exploration.

The new content is anus so try to stay away from that

Fuck off. The first is great and you can import your char to bg2. Theres also an easter egg item you can import and get an op item in bg2. Its a package deal imo, and only playing 2 is only playing part of tge adventure despite the shortcomings of 1 by comparison

>Plays video games for the story

Too much exploration, not enough action. Nothing like DnD

>Just don't play the Siege of Dragonspear expansion.
What's so bad about it? Is it full of SJW shit? Does it ruin the sequel?

>not playing BG, TotSC, SoD, SoA and ToB as a huge megamod
>not playing the above as a cheesy solo character
>not playing the above as a cheesy solo character and putting rediculous restrictions on yourself
It's like you're not even autistic.

If you can't tell the difference between the original and new party members then there isn't a problem.

>playing games just to click on colorful stuff
Ever tried Bejeweled? Might be your cup of tea, you stupid brainlet.

It's written by a sjw cunt. It's mostly a transition from BG1 to 2, but doesn't affect the overall story, afaik. I personally prefer the Baldur's Gate Trilogy story that you're abducted by Mae'Var and turned over to Irenicus.

Part of the fun of BG and its expansions and sequels (yes, even SoD you absolute thundercunts) is to watch your PC and his friends go from getting their shit kicked in by kobolds to being unstoppable forces of absolute murder.

There's no reason to get the "Enhanced" version because you can literally mod your BG to make it look better than EE.

apart from the garbage new characters and the new bugs EE introduced? no, but vanilla is still better.
EE doesn't add anything of value, except maybe higher resolution support

There's no reason to play this shitty h&s meme game, that has nothing to do with the RPG genre, at all.

Does importing characters from BG to BG2 make the game piss-easy?

There are loads of mechanical and character improvements, among many others. Its not simply a graphical upgrade.

Important NPCs for the BG2 plot --> Imoen, Jaheira, Khalid, Minsc, Dynaheir

No. You're stripped of your good gear unless you cheat to keep it when you begin BG2.

You cannot make a game easier when it has no difficulty in the first place. BG2 is literally Roll Wizard - Win Game: The Game.

But surely the stats of your leveled-up characters matter?

10/10

>mechanical
Can fix with mods.
>""""""character improvements"""""
Oh wow

You can use tomes to permanently increase stats in bg1 on your char, which will transfwr over. Also, golden pantaloons transfer for the mech suit

Why spend all the time picking and choosing all those fucking mods when its already in a convenient ee package. Retard.

True, but I wouldn't say that makes BG2 piss easy.

Sjq trash aside, I thought it was pretty good. Could be excellent with some modified dialog
and no safana.

Because it costs more money and BGEE has objectively less mods?

When Importing from bg1 to bg2 ee, does your party have the same stats and skills you picked in bg1?

>straight

What is the best NPC party?

What is the best NPC party with mods?

i'm not sure but i guess you can keep them if you play in mp mode and import the characters one by one.

>character improvements
name one

hmm I have a feeling it doesnt do it automatically in single player, but yeah that might work

A lot more and better mods through BGT and so forth. But more of a pain in the ass to put together. I had to spend a lot of time going through the old mod guide on GoG and tracking down internet archive links for otherwise dead ones. But it made for a better game than the Enhanced edition.

In ee the canon party. In vanilla, probably something like edwin, viconia, ajantis, minsc, and imoen/kagain depending on your pc class

The witch you get with minsc now only has a restriction on enchantment magics but can use all other schools, making her a much more viable pick for a mage

95% of BG doesn't matter int he least in BG2.

Also what character should I play?

I liked the plot twist in 1, which gets spoiled immediately in 2, so theres that.

Paladin - cavalier if good party, or dual class fighter/mage if evil

Why do you like a very basic "you're the chosen one" twist?

Because fuck you, thats why

I think he means Koveras/Sarevok baitswitch.
Or the reveal that you're both Baalspawn and thus brothers.

>backwards name false identity
>"no user the villain is your brother!"

These are fucking elementary school twists.

Coincidentally, we were all in elementary school when we played the damn game.
So there's that.

Just play Pillars of Eternity. it's the same game, but better.

>i like it cuz nostalgia

Compelling argument.

Umm, no sweetie

You will know. They are the most annoying faggots in the game and will basically stand in your path and make a scene to make damn well sure that you don't miss them.

This is a bg1 thread for people already playing bg1, so basically, fuck outta here

I know one is Neera. Shes a wild mage with poor stats iirc. Using a wild mage ever is just a bad idea. Forget which ones the others were, but i think you get them too late to be useful anyway.

There's a sun soul monk, a black guard paladin, and a wild mage. Wild mage is an obnoxious cunt, the other two did not stand out to me like some people seem to be saying.

Neera the lolsorandom wild mage with an annoying voice.
Brooding evil nig- I mean orc black knight with an edgy vendetta.
Not-Asian monk with on a personal quest. I actually liked this one.

The extra NPCs are a non-issue since the game already has several shitty ones.

You get to have 5 companions with a range of classes and skills to follow you around.
Just pick whatever sounds fun and pick teammates to make up for whatever your MC is lacking.

Neera has to be the most annoying companion ever

Ideally though, you want a thief, mage, cleric/druid, and a fighter. Also, i cant reccomend Xan as part of ANY team, even a team of all shit characters.

Or ignore all of them and make your own party.

The only useful one is the orc. Wild mages and monks are utter garbage classes. The orc is really only useful in evil parties where you dont already have front liners, but even then, there are other options that do his job better.

Why does everyone forget about my boy Baeloth? Easily the best spellcaster in the game.

>playing the SJW version of BG

shiggy

Best Neera is the one that isn't even her.

>Minsc letting someone touch his hamster
What the fuck is this shit?

What? Fucking Mae'Var? He wasn't exactly that big a hotshot. You sure you don't mix him with someone?

Eh, Edwin is just as good of a mage and gets better THAC0 having access to slings instead of darts, plus you get him a lot earlier.

No, it was Mae'Var. He was actually a pretty powerful mage/thief, but vanilla BG2 put leather armor on him which prevented him from using spells. The Tactics mod restored his armor-less state and his spells.

Regardless, he drugs you or uses magic to cloud your head when he abducts you. They allude to it in the BG2 intro, Trilogy just specifies that it was Mae'Var.

Unless they fixed it (probably did), the cheat is to FUCKING PAUSE THE GAME as soon as the opening scene with Irenicus stops and you get control of your (imported) character. You then drop all items to the ground. Then resume the game. The game now deletes your empty inventory. Then you just pick the stuff from the ground.

Also you could just play multiplayer and import your character after the game has started, but that's boring.

Minsc does what Boo tells him to do.

Baeloth is literally a better version of Edwin. Much like Edwin render all other single class mages useless, Baeloth makes Edwin pointless.

What was his fucking problem?

Baeloth gets more spells and thats about it. Id rather have my mage earlier so the trade off is fine for me, but yeah, ill agree hes the best caster but not by much.

>more spells

And 50% magic resistance, and a free robe of archmagi. You can use Edwin for a bit then drop him for the superior option.

Sounds op
