I like how even when the Tales series declines in quality, to the point where you say "This is it, this is Star Ocean's time to shine!" Star Ocean immediately drops to an even lower level as if to compensate
I take it that means you didn't like it
I played it years ago around when it was released and I ended up playing it to 100% including getting all of my characters to level 255
I don't know why
I just got a copy.
Is it any good?
It was the last good Star Ocean game and it is packed with content.
While I'm here I just want to say fuck you to Star Ocean 5's gigantic empty maps that take an hour to traverse.
It's been so long I don't even remember anymore. Like I said, I played it to completion and then some so I liked it enough to do that. I'm thinking about playing it again since it's been so long
I enjoyed spamming SCATTER SHOT point-blank. It was hilarious seeing bosses die so quickly.
It was my first SO. So I don't hate it as much others would. I like it. Sometimes I think about replying it since it's been years.
Found my old save file. 128 hours, lol. Checked my battle trophies and I never did beat Freya though so I guess I didn't actually 100% it. I didn't get all the battle trophies either.
I really liked that you could tell the moeblob to fuck off when she tries to join your party.
I think Albel turned me straight
>he took nel
good lad
>he took peppita

i tried to play it twice and just got bored halfway through. you could do some pretty cool shit in this game if you got good at controlling your characters though, much more so than so2.
>Hi, we're the best party members, and we're here to Hammer of Might your shit up
Didn't like how it was yet another "It's a sci fi JRPG but let's spend hours and hours in a medieval fantasy world to save on assets"
Crafting is unusually difficult but all right I guess. By the time I was farming loot for crafting, I was behind on inventions so I stopped caring about it. Beat the game, made a whole three different gear.
It actually has the most scifi in SO now that I think about it.
If she didn't single handedly save the game, I would never have finished it.
>might as well play this jrpg I guess
>wew what is this combat, you mean I get to actually control where and and how my moves aim instead of it just being yes or no
>wew you mean I get to run my own business
>wew you mean I can craft rng diablo gear
>WEW DAT TWEEST
this game was god tier when I was a kid. Can it be enjoyed in 2017.
>buy so3 on ps4pro
>think it will have good res and perfect 60 fps
>looks like a blurry aliased mess
>runs at sub 30 fps most of the time
FUCK
It's my first SO game and I thoroughly loved it, plot twist included.
My favorite game even with all the flaws.
I am positive the 'it's all an MMO' thing was the product of poor localisation and that the original intent was more of a Truman Show-like world simulation. The only MMORPG refrences are made in unvoiced NPC lines.
AIMINGDEVICE ENERGYBEAM AIMING DEVICE
and shes hot. god its been a long time
It's more just exploring the concept of a simulated universe, the idea that with enough processing power, you could create a simulation so real and so detailed, with fully sentient AIs inhabiting it, that from the inside it would be indistinguishable from a "real" universe. They even explicitly say at one point that the Eternal Sphere isn't a "game" in the traditional sense, though the "4D beings" primarily use it for entertainment.
Spent the most time on this game. Had a blast unlocking all the extra content.
I forgot how good these cutscenes were.

PC port when?
Best girl
>has an elaborate in-game encyclopedia that I literally spent an hour reading, adoring the work they put into the lore
>except about 1% of it is even relevant because 80% of the game is spent on Elicoor and the other 20% is spent in 4D space, a place that isn't explained or alluded to at all beforehand
Still a great game though. Fun battle system. Cliff and Maria are best characters.
