Fuck, I never even considered the 6 HP carries over for as long as you don't lose it or die. But I feel more accomplished that I did it with 3. Anyway, Darker Side was definitely the hardest part of the game, but it's nothing compared to the perfect run and the champion's road. I never bothered to finish the perfect run, I hated the cloud Mario floatiness that I wasn't used to.

Champions Road and the perfect run. Darker side gives you 6 hearts plus superior movement, and mutiple skips, I also beat it on my second try. If you thought it was difficult then soyboy you are bad at Mario games or games in general.

Darker side wasn't that hard because it was a mishmash of many different captures. They can't expect you to go from jumping up a ledge with a stretchy boy seven kingdoms ago to precise platforming in the final without any training.

Doing the scooter course without the scooter in Dark Side is the hardest, most intimidating thing in the game.

you can skip a lot of the challenges, the hardest ones to boot
also is posible to skip the whole thing with the frog glitch
the worst part is that you do not even require to know any advanced movement to beat it
you can´t do any of that in the other ones, hell even in 3d world you needed to beat it with all the characters to get the achievement

It’s actually really easy once you figure out that you can defeat most Broodals really fast without having to endure through their attack cycles. Not quite as fast as Boom-Boom because of those retract-in-hat phases, but still. The green tophat guy is the hardest one because he’s the only one who you can’t just instantly jump on the instant he decides to attack you.

I honestly had more trouble with a couple of the moons on the dark side. Beat darker side on my third try.

There's a scooter in the New Donk City version only. On Dark Side the challenge is to do it without a scooter.

The timed bridge challenge in Dark Side was the worst single part for me, you have to time the jumps perfectly to make it before the bridge vanishes on you. Probably spent more time on that than the Darker Side, and it’s just one silly short challenge room.
