Seeing a whole bunch of Windows 10 hatred here, but not quite sure why. No real solid reasons, just alot of regurgitated nonsense. Easiest update configuration, and such a smooth OS. I was literally in the middle of playing an origin game and had no interruption whatsoever. Alt f4, and a nice notification tray waiting for me. Can we end this windows 7 meme bullshit once and for all? Do you not want everything to run smooth? Do you actually enjoy evading updates and slow startups?

Windows 10 updates actually make the computer slower and less stable. It doesn't help the fact that they literally shovel them down your throat in any chance given and there's no way to disable them entirely. And no, scheduling them isn't a workaround.

Of course if you're buying new hardware it is the best choice for a gaming PC. That doesn't make the rest of it any less than an unsturdy piece of garbage.

my computer boots in 10 seconds and is a fully updated windows 10 never had a bsod never have I had any problems outside the normal winbloat which is a consistent problem on all copies on windows

The only issue I have with 10 is the start menu. I have no fucking idea how its supposed to function, just seems to lump random .exe and folders there, and NEVER the shit that I actually want.
Thankfully the search function is better than all other previous Windows combined.

I am okay with W10, but I just reverted the Fall update, because literally all it did for me is make the transparency effect for the Start Menu and Action Center look like total shit compared to the original look

the forced updates suck hard. the reminder becomes daily and any time you're afk. your computer can also restart without permission and force an update if you're afk long enough.

that shit out of the way it also it uses your net traffic to do whatever. checking the resource monitor shows its constantly connecting to the net and there's nothing you can do about it. this is bit of a downer when you want a perfect connection for gaming.

I didn't even really user the start menu heavily in Windows 7, so Windows 10 presented no difficulties to me. I just navigate using pinned shortcuts on the taskbar for most of my programs, and pinned folders in explorer for my frequently accessed files. Way more efficient than the start menu ever was.

That's the point- I'm not important, but Microsoft sure as shit is. If a credit tracking company can inadvertently dox half the US, Microsoft can absolutely be breached. With the level of access they have thanks to writing the OS they could pretty much pull any computer related activity you've performed up, which means that so could anyone who breaches their hardware.

OP here, I'll concede this point. The start menu is fucking useless. I wouldn't mind as much if I could turn the power hungry, good for nothing Cortana completely off. She'd be great if I could actually launch something with my voice. Give here exe capability and it's perfect. The search is great, but that would be better.

Well, good for you, I've had BSODs on my PC every week with Win10 installed, something that didn't happen with 8.1 (which I'm running now).

Yeah, but the amount of bloatware in 10 is much bigger and annoying compared to something like the Metro apps for Windows 8 or Windows Media Home for Windows 7. And getting around uninstalling them or disabling services like GameDVR, Cortana and Telemetry is gruelling stuff.

Not even that, if you set your computer to download games at night so you can install them the next day Windows will conveniently start updating the fucking computer at times like 4:00 A.M unless you constantly manually schedule them.

I'm used to windows 7 and don't think there's enough of an incentive to upgrade at all. The leap from 7 to 10 is a lot smaller than the leap from XP to 7, I'm not going through the tribulations of getting used to a new OS just so my PC boots 4 seconds faster.

The only reason I use 10 is because there are no 7 drivers for my hardware. I only use it to play games and sometimes shitposting. I dual boot with my favourite memeOS to do everything else.

The only problem i have with windows 10 is that Driver Enforcement has now gotten to a point where i need run into the bios file just too tell it too fuck off, every update, because it won't let me use ps3 controller otherwise.

latest update broke LoL for me, i have forced V-sync on and sometimes my FPS goes from 60 to 30 and stays there for a second, and i have to un-focus the window(i play in borderless windowed) and then refocus for it to go back to 60

Forced updates are the main reason I hate it. On one laptop I have the graphics card is broken and if it's not disabled it causes a lot of BSOD errors, but even if I disable it W10 will download and reinstall the driver again and again. Thankfully it can be bypassed with the metered connection option.

i defer all feature updates by 90 days minimum (you can defer them for up to a year) and only install security updates. you can hide driver update shit with a tool made by ms themselves so update never checks for them again. use gpedit to modify update policy to notification only and that's that. not saying win10 is without its flaws but a lot of memes from last summer are outdated.
