What pocket

Darkstalkers was too good for this world

The one between her legs.

It's tragic but perhaps for the best. I loath to think what modern Capcom would do to the franchise.

Still sad the most we can hope for is a shitty Udon crossover comic where the Darkstalkers exist solely to make Chun Li look good

Skullgirls 0.5, a bad fighting game propped up by MUH MONSTERGIRL FETISH that somehow took off despite the fact that even the monstergirls have terrible designs.

>curiously_attractive_fishman_looking_at_fishhook.jpg

If she's flinging sand about it means she just took a shit.

bad bait

I still get a few smiles out of it here and here. Like the fact that they actually acknowledged that one super Bishamon used to have that summons the ghosts of a bunch of fallen samurai.

>Play Skullgirls
>Wish I were playing VSav instead
This happens literally every time I play Skullgirls, it's uncanny and always VSav specifically.

References and variant covers to other comic references can't make up for bad writing. Laura getting raped by Rikuo was a surprise though.

So play VSav? I'm pretty sure there's literally more people playing it right now than there are people playing skullgirls

Still surprises me that earlier this year a VSAV tournament in the midwestern US managed to get 90 something participants.

>a whole generation of players who have no idea darkstalkers set the standards that revolutionized fighting games

Well it's a genuinely fun game that maintains a niche if its own. There's nothing on the current market like it.

Who the hell would have a knee pocket?

slavs, for squattin?

hsien-ko has long feet

this is the only game where i play the little girl

Pocket sand master coming through

>tfw you'll never get the sako infinite down

Speaking of infinites, VSAV's combo counter actually visually glitches up if you somehow manage to go over 99 hits. The devs must have been pretty confident that the game had no infinite combos in order to let something like that slip by.

I actually was gifted the Saturn version of VS recently. Forgot how much I really loved that game we spent the whole weekend playing

Why didn't DS3 have this move. She needs it.

man these stages where wild

That isn't Hol Horse, James.

Not really. She's actually much better in Savior than she is in Hunter.

Dunno. They took away the bouncy roll too, which could be a decent anti-air at times. But like says, she didn't actually suffer for losing either of them.

So lets pretend, miracle of miracles Capcom makes a new game and by some pact with a dark forgotten nameless god we managed to have it be good and avoid modern game BS.

What do you want to see in Darkstalkers 4. New character ideas? New game play mechanics?

The two ideas that keep bouncing around in my head for new characters are a Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde character that would work on a mode switch system like Gen or Zelda/Sheik. No ideas for an actual moveset, though. The other is a Naga/Lamia, whose tail I think could have lots of potential for Darkstalkers-ish animation. She could coil it into a spring to jump with, for example. Her command throw could be a boa constrictor thing where she wraps around the opponent and squeezes them. She could spit venom like a cobra. Maybe even work in some Medusa/Gorgon material and have her hair turn into snakes and bite at people or turn them to stone.

I remember people suggesting a kaiju boss in the past sort of lock Onslaught or Apocalypse

...

I'd like pushblock to changed because I personally never liked how it was designed where you need to mash a bunch (i think it's 6 buttons at to 100 percent proc pushblock) and before that it's completely random. I wouldn't mind more options for things to spend meter on like possibly a defensive tool separate from guard impacts.

As for new characters, a dullahan would be neat for folklore monsters as would several classical monsters like goblins and mimics.

Akuma as guest, would that be good y/n?

As for characters add in Amingo and Ruby Heart. And make more references to fairy tales like how BB Hood or mythological characters. Maybe Wendigo?

Probably my favorite stage, also Sky Scarper level gives it a run for it's money

>Akuma as guest, would that be good y/n?

Eeeeeeeeeh. Im not a fan of guests really. A capcom character showing up in a capcom game wouldn't be as offensive as say the TMNT for no reason so I wouldn't be off put.

>Maybe Wendigo?

Well that's just double up on Sasquatch. Jersey Devil could be cool though.

>They took away the bouncy roll too, which could be a decent anti-air at times.

Well, Felicia is already a very good character and has one of the better AA moves in the game. She also jumps fast so chicken guarding is easier.

She's not top tier but nothing to scoff at. It makes sense the devs didn't want to give her even more options.

>Akuma as guest, would that be good y/n?

The game already has 3 shotas, one of whom does have Raging Daemon. Darkstalkers did quite a bit to make sure the characters all played differently.

>shotas

We understand each other and that's important.
Though I doubt a shota would hurt the game's roster.

I suppose if nobody else is gonna post best girl then I may as well.

Well, Skullgirls takes a ton of inspiration from VSav.
Not because they like VSav in particular but because of the fact it served as he base for MvC2, which is their real baby.

If someone were to ever make Darkstalkers 4, we can only hope they'd take the Skullgirls route with 2D sprites and so on. Heck, the original Darkstalkers animation prided itself on following the Hannah Barbera style of animating. You could sell the game not only as a new Darkstalkers, a game without any long combos to learn to do shit, and Skullgirls without pervy charcter designs, but also as the "Cuphead of figting games".

Raging Demon and air fireballs on top of that

Always a fun read. This is why Im glad we're not getting a new game these days. A cell style game like XRD might be nice but Capcom is more likely to do the same thing they did with Street Fighters dreadful modern models

I wish Darkstalkers stayed as some campy ass setting where a bunch of monsters get together and beat the shit out of each other instead of "hurf durf demons and muh darkness".

I don't think it ever stopped being that. Even with Jedah taking over role as bad guy the series was till pretty wacky. I mean you got a Little Red Riding hood who's a gun toating maniac that shoots missles from her knickers.

The angstiest it ever really got was Donovan and even he has an attack that's basically a giant Monty Python esque foot stomp

I guess my problem is the idea they're all some kind of demon instead of weird creatures sorely misunderstood by humanity.

What the fuck are you even on about? Demons and monsters have always gone hand and hand and there being a demon world doesn't make Demetri not a vampire or Talbain not a proper Werewolf. Viktor's still a proper Frankenstein's monster. The demon world just adds a layer on top of this it doesn't change it.

I guess I'm autistic but it just seems weird they're all homogenized as some creature of evil.

>Capcom is more likely to do the same thing they did with Street Fighters dreadful modern models

It's not like you couldn't make a DS-worthy game in 3D but we all know Capcom is not the company to expect something like that from.

Still, at least they still give a fuck about the series in the end. What with Morrigan getting the best theme bar none when it comes to MvCI.

But they're not. Only a handful of the Darkstalkers are from Makai proper. The rest are the exact monsters they appear to be.

Ah well I guess I'm looking to deep into it. I think the shitty OVA made Darkstalkers look way more dark and gritty than it really is I suppose which affected how I viewed the series.

I legitimately love Felicia to death. Not even in a lewd way.
I love her character, I love her design, 10/10, I wish she was in more stuff.

Felicia is completely out of place and turned Darkstalkers into le ebin monster girl game.

>tfw when there will be no new good Darkstalker game with amingo, ruby heart, and son-son

>It's not like you couldn't make a DS-worthy game in 3D

I don't mean to come across as some 2D purist because while I love 2D I dig 3D fine enough but I really don't think you can. Not the way Capcom's been doing it anyways.

Darkstalkers has a very unique kind of aesthetic it build over it's three games. More to the point this aesthetic is way more... OUT THERE, when compare to, fireballs, notwithstanding Street Fighters more grounded style.

Darkstalkers combination of exaggerated animations, shape shifting attacks, and level of violence demands a certain type of graphics.

>and son-son

OH RIGHT! I had forgot about her. She would make herself right at home.

>amingo
Wasn't he suppose to be in some scrapped rhythm game. Don't see how a cactus man fits anyways.

I actually like the OVA a lot but it's not really a proper representation of the the games lore. Especially tonally.

3D can do it, it simply takes easily as much effort as it does in 2D.
3D was adopted to save costs over developing 2D, not because it can provide an equal in visuals at an equal amount of effort.

>I actually like the OVA a lot
I mean it definitely looks pretty, but Jesus fuck Donovan was an annoying faggot who spouted nothing but pretentious shit about the darkness or whatever. Bored me to tears.

how is pyron a DARKstalker when he's a massive being of bright fire that you could easily see from outer space because of how big and bright he is?

Always wanted a girl kid goku in a fighting game.

Donny's kind of like that across the board. It's just balanced more in the larger setting and the aforementioned big monty python foot

I want to spank that monkey

lord knows you've been practicing
