Random/Obscure games you've picked up recently

Is it just me or is this game kinda hard?
I've seen this game on shelves for years and recently I thought it looks interesting so I picked it up.
Off the bat it had a very weird design.
The world map was a puzzle that you had to unlock and the battle system's been unconventional to say the least, it's like a mix of action elements with an SRPG.
I've been digging it even though it keeps pushing my shit in.

This has been on the Sup Forums wiki since it came out, I don't think it's obscure here...

I never saw any real discussion about it on Sup Forums.
I've seen anons mention its name in passing, but I don't think too many have actually played it.
But I could be wrong, it's a tri-ace title so there should be a small following.

It's been really interesting though, the gameplay is a bit out there, but it provides a decent challenge.

RoF is an amazing game and a true gem not often mentioned

like said, it's kind of a cult hit nowadays, but lacks mass appeal. It was used as the "better example" for "next gen JRPGs" when the initial FF XIII bashing was at its peak, but ultimately it remained quite obscure.

The combat system may feel a bit odd at first, but it's easy to exploit and master soon after. The story and world design also seem to throw some people off, as instead of "Let's save the world with power of friendship!", you're practically following a slice-of-life story of a small mercenary team, in a fantastical setting.

...also, in case you didn't know, THIS is the game's alternative title in some countries.
It's the Fatal Frame / Project Zero thing, all over again.

I bought it back when it came out, but I've never sat down and play it for more than 10 hours.

Those fucking gun mods made me laugh though.

I enjoyed it. Enough JRPG tropes, challenging elements, and enjoyable if repetitive combat to keep me going through to the end. Changing my outfits and weapons was just a bonus.

I wish they would port it to PC though so I wouldn't have to dig my 360 out of my parent's garage if I ever feel like playing it again.

I went to a local Gamestop today looking for this game and they didn't have it.

>Those fucking gun mods made me laugh though.
This is how you tickle /k/ommandos

>Gamestop
you never learn?

Any tips/strategies for the first boss?
I didn't have any grenades in my party and one of the methods I found for beating it requires them.

I've had the urge to play a lot of 7th gen jrpgs recently and got lucky at a local gamestore on my campus, but with something this old amazon/eBay is your best bet.

>putting a grip on the bottom of your mag
>putting a barrel on that
>all those barrels
>is that a sight attacked to the scope?

There has to be some parody fan art out there of the cast with this goofy-ass gun

>fantastical

Are the people who review this game mental challenged?

The atmosphere in all this game is depressing, the dialogues are depressing, nothing contributes to a generic fantasy game like others jrpgs

do you people even can read the dialogues of the game? is like im surrounded of brainlets

It's not always depressing.
There are a few moments that shine through here and there

My copy is almost brand new but it doesn't work it just makes a sound but doesn't play. Any idea why that is? I repeat the disc is practically new and shinny clean

Once you understand the combat(and how much you can exploit), it becomes ridiculously fun.

valkyrie profile 2.

You sure it's not your xbox?

The PS3 is fine it plays all my other games no problem even the scratched

That's very strange, from what I know the ps3 use blu-Ray discs too which are even harder to damage.
I would just but a new copy in that case.

>the most expensive item is a miniskirt
>able to see pantyshots in every single jump
>also modding your guns to complete retard levels
Fun game, too bad the story was shit and it had some really awful difficulty spikes.

>story was shit

T. brainlet
Story in this game is well done and the dialogues fit in the atmosphere, but what i can expect from a bunch of retarded mexicans with 0-IQ english tier

>all those spins she does showing off her panties

Gonna try this when the PS3 exploit gets released.

Not gonna happen any time soon, they're gonna have to start over since a new update came out last week

>analog movement doesn't work with DS4
I don't want to buy a new controller

Can you bypass that by just not updating?

No, those two guys were working for a crack for the past update so that we would be able to play pirated PS3 games but the last update fucked it up because their goal is to make a definitive crack on the last system's update. Also they're fighting each other, it's not gonna happen soon
