We have open world Mario and Zelda now. Besides Pokemon, what big Nintendo IP would work as an open world game? I'm thinking Metroid might.

Open world reggie.
pikmin obviously
Smash Bros
>Open world Metroid
What the hell was the series before? Closed world?
mario cart street racing dub edition
Zelda has always been open world
Bethesda's doing Prime 4, right?
>Burnout: Paradise but with mario kart
mario kart paradise?
Star Fox. It would completely miss the point of Star Fox and divide the fanbase forever, but the actual game would be fun.
Open World Mario Kart
Xenoblade Chronicles
Pokemon.
I am hoping EAD helps Gamefreak and forces them not to be lazy.
I'm all for the Mario Kart suggestions. It could be like Crash Team Racing / Diddy Kong Racing, where you race around an island and do race challenges.
>We have open world Mario
where?
>metroid
metroid's strength is tight level design, don't think it'll work out. However the exploration aspect can be expanded
Over world =/= open world you fucking moron
Golden Sun world rebuilt as fully open to scale old style rpg. My memory of this series is pretty murky, I don't remember the world having an edge.
>open world metroid
Are you retarded?
>fly around the lylat system
>fly down to the surface of every individual planet
I'd buy that for a dollar but that's not really Starfox.
I'm hoping Monolith Soft b team is assigned to Pokemon, and guess what, Gamfreak devs already said they are looking to make big changes with the upcoming release, I expect shit but it's nice to hear that they are at least trying this time.
Linear
>Metroid
>Have to do shit in a VERY SPECIFIC order
>Open world
Are you retarded
Open World is a genre you moron. Just because a game has a "open world" it isn't an "Open World" game. Open world means you can go anywhere and explore anywhere you want to progress through the game. No set path in each level.
X is actually a better game than its predecessor thanks to the open world.
Mira is hands down the best open world map ever created. BotW's Hyrule doesn't come close. What BotW had over XCX, though, was being able to interract with the overworld in more meaningful ways. Pushing rocks, chopping trees, pulling chests out from under a lake, etc.
No it fucking isn't. Open world is just a descriptor of a game. Platformer is a genre. Beat 'em up is a subgenre. Open world is a game element. You can have an open world beat 'em up platformer, but the game is of the platformer genre.
You don't remember that the world was basically dissolving into an endless abyss because Alchemy was sealed?
There's even a coolass area in The Lost Age where you can go to the falls at the edge of the map.
I don't think you've ever played a Metroid game that isn't Fusion or Other M.
>Very specific
That's not really true though. Maybe some of the Prime games.
Hum Mario has something like 2 or 3 open world area in Odyssey but even there, the progression is pretty linear.
