The Feels. RIP iwata
Is that in the game? It's kinda wall breaking, but cool at the same time.
Were they having trouble fitting all the data in USUM too?
The Pokemon games have always had the devs in them
Game Freak always has a building in the pokemon games
Gamefreak office was in sun and moon also usum
I can't believe Gamefreak just retconned Gold and Silver into being nothing but fictional video games. They've made them completely meaningless now.
...
...
Are you fucking stupid? They always had a Developers Room that breaks the fourth wall. Here is your (you), fucking prick
In Gen 2 you could visit the 4 devs in a building.
confirmed for never playing any of the games
In every game you can battle Shigeki Morimoto
Who is the battle director of Pokemon since red and blue
Iwata was probably a pretty good programmer, Earthbound anti-piracy is a great read but Gamefreak's programmer are horrible.
I wonder what he thought of them.
He was probably a good boss, judging from all the "hidden" stuff in Nintendos games afterwards but his last projects were horrible.
3DS was heavily overcharged because of hype but it had no games and there was a huge pricecut afterwards. MH finally gave it momentum and when the games started rolling, it managed to recover.
Then they pulled the same shit with the WiiU but unlike the handheld market, they have competition on the console market and the WiiU failed because it couldn't keep up. Hardware, online infrastructure, the "importance" of the gimmick, etc
I would've liked to see what he would've done to turn everything around. I mean Nintendo is doing good right now but I wonder
>Managed to fit two full regions into one game with an additional night cycle and new sprites
And now they can barely do one properly with mostly recycled assets. It's pretty pathetic.
Iwata's last projects (Switch and Pokemon GO) have made Nintendo bigger than they have been since the Wii days.
>WiiU failed
>What is the Switch
Don't be such a retard.
>tfw you played the early games but didn't speak english at that time so you didn't get anything of the story
>Iwata was competent as fuck
>GF still can't live up to this guy's skill decades later
Wasn't he pretty sick before he died? Switch came this year, Iwata died 1.5 years before and considering how the Switch is rushed (eg no microphone built in, no VC), I doubt he had much to say in it.
>tfw you played the early games and dont live in a third world shithole or a country with less population than one average US american state so you got a translated version
>Solved all our problems
>Butchered Kanto to the point that it's barely recognizable.
>being this passive agressive
spotted the fatlord virgin
It takes way more than 1.5 years to design a console. They were most likely working on it in 2013, possibly even sooner.
Yeah Pokemon go. He was involved in ton
Gen 4 is better gen 2 and 1. So....
He's joking and making fun of some parts of the danganronpa fanbase. I think
I haven't played Pokemon since diamond and pearl so I forget just about everything
I live in the Netherlands, far from a third world country and we had to settle for German, Spanish, French and Italian translations besides English for all major games.
Shit sucked.
I don't remember battling someone by that name in Gen 1-3
Then again, I don't pay attention to the names.
>I was only pretending to be retarded.
German is close enough.
>considering how the Switch is rushed (eg no microphone built in
>being this retarded
>"quick, let's develope the new console, the future of our company, in 1 year. Throw everything Iwatta did, he's dead anyway. Microphone? No time, gotta go fast!"
If you just want to shitpost, why do you pretend to talk serious?
That's because it only happened with gen 5 and 7, I'm not sure what the user is trying to say.
Including that picture wasn't an accident
>All part of my master plan, guys!
Game Freak have literally never been competent, they're just one of the luckiest companies on the planet.
>mh gave legs to 3ds.
LOL no.
>Hardware, online infrastructure, the "importance" of the gimmick
None of those things made a difference. It was all because of their atrocious advertising.
wait but iwata wasn't a gamefreak dev was he? why did he do their work for them
Because GF is fucking shit at their job. They had a single gen running at 60fps, and that was on the strongest handheld at the time.
>still can't program worth a damn
Huh.
What? Because Pokemon is nintendo 2nd biggest ip. They needed to sell GB and GBC
I just want to point out that the compression used in gold and silver was originally written by a guy named claude comair with the intent of being used in what eventually became bionic commando elite forces, iwata just made it work with gold and silver
...
>MH finally gave it momentum
Pokemon X/Y finally gave it momentum*
well he certainly got you well enough. you still havent figured it out
Don't talk about thing you don't know.
...
>P U
Damn, that's good.
Imagine if they (finally) released a new console AC for the Switch.
If it was at least as good as NL, it would probably keep the Switch going well into the following gen.
>it took him that long to figure it out
>he didn't see iwata shaking like a fucking leaf in the wii u unboxing videos
The worst part is the maps look like fucking Lego Island. Half the time when I look at the minimap it looks like some amateur brush lines connecting the few key points with absolutely no touch up work done at all.
So much of the game looks fantastic but the over world just feels so small and looks so bad it really ruins the game.
>3DS was heavily overcharged because of hype
It was overpriced because if a business can get away with it they will sell you as little as possible for as high a price as possible. When they realized it wasn't working because there was almost zero hype for the 3DS even around release they dropped the price and gave us the GBA and NES VC games as a sort of apology.
Even so back then they were constantly pushing the envelope. They wanted to keep adding content and features on what was already established. Even if it didn't come out perfect it was the right track. Now we gain and lose features on a gen by gen basis and the game as a whole feels like it is slipping.
>Managed to fit two full regions
>full
A lot of the routes were shorter and some areas were completely removed. Gen 2 Kanto is a joke.
They ried and that's what counts, would you rather they had not bothered at all?
>right behind the player is a book talking about the battle pyramid
Thats because the world is small. All the routes now are super short, have 3 trainers on them, a few patches of grass and no sideline exploration
Even if you only call it a 1.5x expansion that still means Iwata's fixes were amazing. Don't downplay his accomplishment because you were unhappy every single Kanto feature didn't carry over.
Pokemon is technically a separate company but between the heavy stake Nintendo has and the fact that Nintendo is the only company they have/will work with for the foreseeable future, they have Nintendo's assistance as necessary to make the games.
Iwata had a rep for getting shit done and G/S development was stalling in the peak of the original fad. There's no way Nintendo wouldn't use any resource they could to ensure its timely release.
>the battle frontier project has started
>the alola gym project has started
>following pokemon, but it's only npc pokemon in specific areas
what the FUCK are they trying to accomplish
>The Switch wasn't rushed
I'm aware that companies do R&D, they have a shitload of ideas stashed around
Ok
Forgot to write "in Japan"
If I'm not mistaken the 3DS had much better sales since then.
Pokemon was a year later I think.
This is about games sold, right?
>None of those things made a difference.
Yes, it did.
Advertising was shit too, at some point they had no idea who they wanted to cater to
>the strongest handheld
at that point nobody wanted to bother taking the handheld market
But yeah, GF is pretty shit, Iwata went there, looked at the code and took programming departments sign with him when he went back to Nintendo HQ
