>MC and villain fall in love
What other games do this?
MC and villain fall in love
Neither of those characters are either of those things in any souls game
Shhh it's close enough
It's a nice story so I'll give you that
>Zullie
>villain
not enough.
Anyone can be a villain from a certain point of view.
wow really made me think...
>love interest dies
>main character starts slaughtering everything in a vain attempt to avenge her
What games do this
Name a single game that does this.
Except MGS
Prey (the original)
Well in Alva's story she was definitely an antagonist.
>"When Zullie the witch learned of Alva's dedication to Saint Serreta she used all manner of tricks and deceit to ruin him"
>"Alva was once wracked with guilt and remorse, but rediscovered his purpose in life with the aid of the witch who once plotted against him"
>ywn be so chivalrous that a qt witch becomes jealous of your devotion and then falls in love with you
What's the point of life, anons?
...
No.
Elly was a soldier of the edgy space nazi holy empire and Fei fights her goon squad then her in a series of boss fight before love blooms on a battlefield
>AgK
>anything resembling a happy ending
Or does it? I dropped it after the anime aired.
Should I play Xenogears?
Yes.
I never watched the anime but Esdeath dies, Lion nee-san dies, Tatsumi lives but he's now permanently a dragon, Mine comes out of her coma and somehow took Tatsumi's giant dragon cock and produced several children, best girl lives, Akame lives
Nier Automata
>falls for a guy who indirectly caused her entire life to be a living hell on top of being a batshit insane murderbot
Breath of Fire 4.
Fei is only arguably the MC, and Elly was definitely never a villain.
Well, it was indirectly. It's not like he was trying to make her life awful
Daily reminder that Zullie dies and Alva goes batshit crazy (twice)
ME ON THE RIGHT
At least their daughter(?) is safe
Xenogears, hilariously enough.
The recurring villain you fight over and over throughout the game is actually a previous reincarnation of your MC, who went berserk after his soulmate/lover died.
The final boss is another dude who got cucked, but also loved the same girl. He decided to become/create God to give meaning to the world.
KOTOR 2
>daughter
Karla is most likely a shard of Manus though. Alva probably mistook her for Zullie which was why he's at the Irithyll dungeon first.
>mine wins
Laaaame.
>shard of Manus
a retarded ds2 concept that was never brought in ds3 directly and can be safely discarded
I don't know, the description of Dark Edge has me convinced that she is Zullie's daughter, and Zullie was a shard instead
Didn't Dante's Inferno do this?
Can someone explain?
She is only available for 2 summons and nothing else. How is that a love connection
However i like pic related love connection better
>Only available for two summons
She never appears, user, except for her corpse
Shes a ghost?
She does get summoned by the Adjucator Giants to attack you with a much stronger version of Dark Edge, but one Locust said that she and Alva reunited in the Abyss
That's not Beatrice. It's Zullie, a character that never appears directly, but is mentioned in some item descriptions in DaS 2 and 3
That was fucked up shit
i cant think of a gayer scene in any kind of media
Alpha Protocol
Is this a Dark Souls reference?
Lynette in Rune Factory, after finishing main story she stops being an antagonist and becomes a bachelorette. Close enough, I think.
Also, to some degree, Oceans, but it's spoiler heavy.
Also, Kingdoms of Amalur, House of Ballads questline.
Dark Messiah
...
I don't remember all this Alva and Zullie shit. Is this a side story taken from item descriptions?
Final Fantasy 7
The Darkness
Yeah, from the Black Witch set and Alva set. Want me to explain the basic story?
Xana is the most selfless character in the story and not a villain in the slightest.
The first half of Bayonetta 2.
Sure
Xenoblade, if Shulk wasn't such a sulking faggot.
Do Max Payne counts?
Probably,
She contributed to Fei's village getting blowing away by the enemy soldiers who were after her. Or that time she accidentally exploded her classmates brains with her power, or that time she got brainwashed and sabotaged the ship, or when she got full on possessed by Miang
And Fei is definitely the MC, I mean aside from his edgelord split personalities, that time Elly has to take over as leader when he got BTFO and Citan's general dickery with having every faction on a first name basis
Man Xenogears was a wild ride
>Alva is a loyal knight of Saint Serrata
>Serrata gets sick, possibly with the Curse
>Alva volunteers to find a cure for her
>He wanders the land in search for one
>Zullie the Witch learns of him
>She's cute, but no one likes her because she's a bitch
>She gets jealous of Alva's devotion to the saint
>Decides to lead him to ruin, whether it be with magic or seducing him
>Follows him everywhere
>Genuinely obsessed with the knight
>She never manages to lead him astray
>She actually falls in love with him
>She becomes his closest supporter and follower on his journey
>Alva never manages to find the cure
>He sinks into depression and relinquishes his knighthood
>Zullie is there to pick back up
>They find new purpose in each other and continue travelling
>Possibly had a daughter
>At some point Zullie disappears
>Alva goes mad searching for her or the one who killed her
>He invades other worlds and murders the hosts in a vain attempt to find her or his daughter(?)
>Zullie's corpse is at the end of the world, the Ringed City
>His spirit watches over it until almost the end of time
>Alva himself dies or loses his armor in Irithyll Dungeon, right outside of Karla's cell
>Only the Abyss granted closure, if not reunion with his Beloved
>Fear not the Dark, my friend, and let the Feast begin
It's kinda interesting how Taro took a guy who looks like a typical jrpg protagonist and made an actually cool character out of him.
For how much i dislike DS2, Zullie/Alva is really the best storyline that it created.
Judging by the fact Miyazaki actually dedicated some time to them in DS3 lore means that he probably likes them too, even if the end their story was tragic as fuck.
Best girl also adopts a kid
Guilty Gear, but it gets better for him.
Prepare to cry edition
see I read the same descriptions but didn't get half of that out of it.
Some of it is environmental storytelling, such as the locations of Alva's invasions and Zullie's corpse
But if they reunited in the Abyss, doesn't it mean it's actually good end? Or I fail to understand what Abyss is, I know only a bit of DS lore.
Fucking hell. That’s anime as fuck.
Almost makes me regret not playing ds2. Almost.
Alva will forever wander as a mad dark spirit while Zullie is dead and her spirit is bound by Adjudicator Giants.
At this point they are both creatures of the abyss but i won't call it a god end.
The best pieces of lore regarding the two happen in ds3.
Alva and Zullie anime when
Hotdamn. Has there ever been anyone in soulsborne that has a happy ending? I can settle for bittersweet.
Solaire at the good end of his questline.
>Heads out to stop the abyss
>Gets the absolute fuck kicked out of him by Manus
>Crawls out of it a fucking wreck and his left arm (His good arm) broken
>Still manages to fuck your shit up
Why is Artorias so good?
Antagonist != villain.
Patches is still alive at the end of the world and just happily fucks off after a final friendly pat.
New to the dark souls storytelling formula? You gotta use your imagination a bit bud it's not like other games.
I'll raise you a better knight
The knight of catarina in dark souls if you actually do his quest right
>Siegmeyer and Sieglinde
>Happy ending
The power of good writing
I forgot. He deserved better.
How so? He either dies making a distraction for you or is killed by his daughter.
Not really, it's a doomed world.
Maiden Astraea and Garl Vinland's story from Demon's Souls fucks me up the most ;-;
Shovel Knight
>dedicate your entire life to feel following some asshole’s orders to kill and be their pawn
>has no heart to speak off
>got fucked up in a mission
>gets saved by pic related despite it being against their crew’s creed
>later
>has to slay pic related
>can’t fucking do it
Ds2 or 3?
Yes
>she is also best girl
>kill garl
>astraea kills herself
I just wanted to put the Old One back to sleep
Yes. It's called a "call forward" when someone reference something that's yet to exist many years in the future.
First one has him die a Knights death a noble death
Is that so?
NINO!
I’m the soulsbounre, the end is never going to be a good one. Hollowing, actual death by the hands of a monster or some madman.
What matters instead is to live a good life beforehand, and these 2 has a good run so I’d say they had a good ending. A bad ending would be not getting staying together despite their feelings
Plague/Mona is better
Blowing out fire and spending the darkness with Firekeeper is best end.
Nice to meet you Soulsbounre.
>implying they won't just go into a new painting together with the painter girl and live there as an awkward family
That's it though. He was never happy in life and was driven to the point of hollow after the loss of his wife. His daughter then knowing what was best for him sent him off to be with her forever. Do you even listen to him when he dies? He sounds like he's finally relieved.
>getting a happy ending is staying alive in the shithole
That's a different story though? Mir went batshit crazy because humanity rejected her song. A more fitting example would be Infel.
