Underrail

What's your excuse for not playing the best spiritual successor of the original Fallout? If you're one of the few cool dudes that did play this, share your characters with us. Mine was a mechanic/electrician that uses firearms and thrown weapons, I didn't bother with any of that PSI nonsense, reducing my HP by a quarter and all that crap. You'd be surprised how much damage you can do late game with an assault rifle burst, 2 bursts can kill the last boss in the game.

and here's the gun my dude made for himself. I even took the gun nut perk so my custom weapons will be slightly better. The description is too big so the title gets cut off.

Great game but fuck the last zone

I played on Easy with a melee character who used a two hand hammer exclusively. This worked well until Hollow Earth, which became a huge slog even after the zone disconnect error was fixed. Didn't kill the last boss.

Then I started a run on Normal with a Psi character with backup one hand melee, which went great until I met my first robot and packed it in. Maybe when I get the itch again I'll go back and start a new character,

it's a bit rough, especially considering you can't get a decent supply of healing items. I killed the Tchortists out of desperation so I can loot their supplies, I didn't even want to kill them despite also being friendly with the Faceless.

My reason? I'm waiting for the expansion.

despite all the hardship the last zone throws at you, you gotta admit it's kinda cool. Haunted laboratories from PSI experiments gone wrong, exotic fungi creatures, Dune worms, Lovecraftian monstrosity, a half insane hermit, techno-gimps... it's all pretty cool to me.

Same here, then gonna go with Psi build.

I heard the game is pretty harsh if you don't have a properly built character, what is a good build for a first time player?

>loved Fallout 1 and 2
>bought this
>made a character
>saved and haven't started it since

Glad to support the devs, but I hate how often I do this with games.

sucky artdirection
it's not about grafix tho, even fallout 2 looks better than this abomination

You'll be waiting for another year probably.

Welp, it was an year already.

What's the lore of the game? Standard nukes or is there more to it like the 50s sci fi and aesthetic of Fallout?

it's harsh only if you try to be a jack of all trades and don't specialize.

Ah, good to know.

I just started playing it recently. I'm doing a stealthy pistol/SMG character and have just got to Camp Hathor. Great so far.

Im an Obsidian dick rider. I watched a review praising PoE and bought it. I don't even play fantasy games and haven't touched it at all

I just got to the end of the first vault or whatever and found it too boring to continue
The combat sucks and the out of combat stuff wasn't interesting enough to compensate. If I cared about putting skill points into a couple catagories until I become God I'd probably would have liked it more.

Instead of 50-s there are 80-s cyberpunk aestetics.

you get very vague hints and no one knows for sure.

it's hinted that aliens destroyed the surface a few centuries ago. Most people in Underrail don't even remember that nor do they talk about the past

So like Turbo Kid with laser power gloves or something? I'm having a little trouble understanding looking at the art style

the art style is... kinda uninspired. It has both slums with green glowing goo, abandoned high tech installations, 20th century trains, giant ass futuristic gothic looking buildings, but most of the game is caves... it's kinda all over the place.

Caves, scrapyard, metro stations, tons and tons of tunnels, outposts, underground, cyberpunk city, research labs, vaults etc.

I think the art style can primarily be described as "functional." Keep in mind this game was created almost entirely by one dude.

How do you deal with high armor enemies in the early game as a crossbow user? I end up having to shoot them like a dozen times.

special bolts
if you can get some chemistry, acid and incendiary ones are really nice
or if you go with electronics shock bolts and amazing but expensive

WHERE'S THE DLC STYG

That makes sense, I've been too cheap to use any of those except for some shocks on the robots in depot a.

don't worry about dosh, later on you'll be swimming on it, unless you wanna have that fancy super steel stuff, wich is really expensive but worth it.

also don't forget to level traps, traps+crossbows are a godtier build

First playthrough was PSI tank with 10 con. The lack of perception make dealing with stealth enemies so annoying I went 10 perception 10 agility stealth sniper next time through.

Is high con even worth it? Thick Skull was nice but if a sledgehammer ever got near me I still died with like 300 overkill.

Its not succesor to the Fallout. Underail is pretty much 95% combat, rpg elements are there in form of character stats to lay base to different builds. You can't finish Underrail with a non-fighting character or a hybrid. Its more like a Jagged Alliance, except you control just a single character. Also caves labirynths suck.

high con is really good on builds that rely on tanking
pop some drugs like morphine, jumping bean, aegis, adrenaline and shit them go berserker on your 1k hp heavy armor juggernaut
bonust points for sledgehammer build.

when will this be -80%?

You will get your moneys worth for sure. Its almost fully one guys labor of love for games.
This is one of those games I honestly did not regret buying at full price.

ive alrdy bought and played it im just thinking of gifting it to my brother and friend if it were a little cheaper

>the best spiritual successor of the original Fallout
too bad it sucks

I went for the boring but OP stealth sniper. I also use throwables and traps too so I can strategize my fights more. Its funny landing 600 damage shots and just decimating an enemy that cant see you.
