Thw hardest

Expert has the most objectives and gives you the most reason to explore the levels. Normal and Hard are specifically tailored for casuals and you lose content by playing them.

Expert because it's The Way It's Meant To Be Played, it has all the objectives.

what if I play on normal and still explore the levels? do I miss out on content then?

Then you are wasting your time doing the same things expert would force you to do, the other difficulty changes like less health and a few more guards are pretty irrelevant.

yes, hardest difficulty just have more objectives for you. Sometimes you need to find someone, steal another important item etc. By playing on lower difficulty you just skip half of the game.

Expert adds objectives that make the missions more involved in general, in the first mission for example you have to exit the manor after getting the item.

alright then I'll play on master

Play on master because the game gets alot more tense since most of the time you cant blackjack every guard in the level and tools like flash bombs and other things become more valuable.

Also dont blow all your money when buying stuff since the money carries over missions.

And dont forget your sword reflects light so even in pitch darkeness if you draw your sword your light level will spike up

>And dont forget your sword reflects light so even in pitch darkeness if you draw your sword your light level will spike up
>this level of t e c h n o l o g y in 1998
fuck I'm hard now

>Also dont blow all your money when buying stuff since the money carries over missions.
Pretty sure that's incorrect. Loot you get in mission 1 only carries over to the buy screen in mission 2. Anything not spent for Mission 2 does not get carried over to Mission 3's buy screen, it gets replaced entirely by loot found in Mission 2.

>Also dont blow all your money when buying stuff since the money carries over missions.
Not in 1 and 2

I'm pretty sure it's just a flat increase in your light level, no tech involved.

still a neat addition and attention to detail though

Go ahead and do hardest but you will need to look up where shit is when you get stuck like the fucking secret fireplace compartment

Expert because it's the most fun. I am gonna go ahead and spoil the location of one piece of loot you need to find in that thieves guild level only because I spent almost two hours scouring the level myself to find it.

Hidden button next to a firepit

I suck at video games or it was bullshit, your choice.

Mmm I might be wrong but I remember it worked like this

>you get a base money per mission (500)
>everything you loot from the last mission gets added to your base
>any tool you buy dont get carried to the next level
>so you lost some money if you overbuy supplies

Maybe Im very wrong, I havent play in a while

Stop reading spoilers and go play the game.

I SHOULD READ THE THREAD. However glad to know I wasn't the only one.

Yes, some missions will block off areas to you on lower difficulties

Also bunnyhop to sanic, just dont splatter yourself

>tfw dropped it in Song Of The Caverns
I never finish stealth games. Same shit with Hitman 1,2,3. I played them, it was fun, but I always get bored in the middle.

I find I have to be in a very particular mood to get the most out of stealth oriented games. That mood is rare to say the least but when it hits boy are these games something else.

Don't skip the tutorial.
Look [and customize] the controls.
Apply the patch (forgot the name).

>you get a base money per mission (500)
>everything you loot from the last mission gets added to your base
>any tool you buy dont get carried to the next level
Correct.
>so you lost some money if you overbuy supplies
Incorrect.

If you have money left over after proceeding past the purchase screen it gets wiped clean, then the loot you find in that mission gets used on the next purchase screen. If you buy tools you end up not using it will make no difference to the amount of money you have next time you hit the buy screen.

>play Thief
>greatly enjoy it but dislike the supernatural elements that become more and more prominent as the game progresses
>play Thief 2
>miss all the supernatural elements present in the previous game
Did anyone else feel the same way?

Thief 1's implementation of supernatural elements is true casual filter video game kino. It also adds an infinite amount more variety to the gameplay and scenarios for repeated playthroughs. I can play through Thief 1 as often as once a year but Thief 2 it's basically impossible for me to do without losing interest 2/3 of the way through.
Weird. Song of the Caverns is commonly regarded to be one of the best missions in Thief 1.

Did you guys enjoy that new FM for T2? I forgot the name now.

you mean the TFix?

Death's Cold Embrace? Just had a browse of ttlg that was the only one I found. A whopping 10 level campaign. Looks bretty gud.

I'm still waiting on the Black Parade though.

Looks decent. Atmosphere seems very different to original Thief. Looks great

holy fuck boys this game is hard. i keep forgetting that surfaces have different noise levels and i cant into using the different types of arrows and shit

Moss arrows are your friend for marble floors.

>bioware remakes thief.webm

I say hard first, expert for replays. Chances are you're going to want to later anyway.

You can't sell a person a game based on replay value when the first playthrough is inferior.
