Has anyone ever done a Mega-Campaign? How did it turn out?

EU4 is shit. stripped out all the fun of EU3, and you can't even paint the world anymore.
CK3 will do the samething to CK2
Mega campaigns are shit, unless you're skilled and autistic enough to create your starting scenarios by hand at each game
You can't play to win either. By CK2 you can have Europe and the Middle East. Just steamroll the rest in the first century of EU4, and what will you do next?
Victoria III when?
If you start at Stepford Bridge in CK2 you're pretty much guaranteed to have a fuck off huge empire by the end of the time frame and literally everyone and their mother will be part of your dynasty/ Once you transition to EU4 it's laughably easy to paint the entire new world
You have to roleplay if you want a viable mega campaign. The only thing you have to autistically do is go extreme interventionist to make sure nobody gets too OP.
what's wrong with EU4 besides
>MUH MANA POINTS
When Johan figures out what DLCs to sell for it
Literally couldn't keep playing. After conquering the entire of India in a single protracted war I looted every province at once. Causing me to be spammed with uprising events (which pause the game until clicked), one for every holding in every province. Every month.
You may shit yourself over the numbers but I had so much tech after looting all of eastern europe I could stackwipe an army 10 times my size.
Actually form minor clans instead of keeping literally every piece of land east of the Rhine to myself and? Fuck that. Even if they somehow pull a 100k stack of men out some tiny shithole in norway and beeline my capital literally every single month.
I have. From what i remember
>Islam suddenly wiped out around year 900, replaced by orthodoxy, only survives in a few SEA countries in EU
>Norse faith reforms and grows to be the leading faith alongside orthodoxy
>Catholism pushed down to a single province (yellow) by the end of the CK-EU game
>Protestants take hold of eastern europe
>Tengri also reforms and takes the orthodoxy middle east and make them tengri
>Buddhism wipes out other faith in India, spreads eastward in EU
the end of the game is always map gore, especially in the new world.
Since all the DLC's are separate their mechanics barely interact which has led to most of them being really shallow.
Also the player base loves ridiculous blobs for some reason and paradox has had to implement features to try and stop them from creating retarded scenarios like italy owning random parts of south germany.
what the fuck
Have you ever felt deep regret over something you did?
Jesus H Christ
I wanted to try to bring some pagan religion to EU4 but the pagan mechanics in it are so poor i don't feel like bothering.
In HoI3 I would always get the feels when this song came on
youtube.com
>Tfw sending young men to death over and over again
In EU3 I routinely scorch the land in the provinces with non-accepted cultures and preserve animist rebels only so they can spread further and let me establish my primary culture. Do you think I give a fuck at this point?
Pretty sure norse has personal deities and shit, its about as fleshed out as it ought to be
Reminds me of my favorite song from EU4.

>You will never be so bad that EU4 provides a satisfying challenge again
A lot of the newer achievements are somewhat difficult
Provided you actually own the game and can get them
>Not roleplaying and taking thing as they come instead of metagaming for maximum fun
Just got into playing the Geheimnisnacht mod, currently playing as one of the dwarves, taking my sweet time exterminating the greenskins and trying to get the hang of the mechanics.
>start as an east francian count in 769
>eventually form HRE
>it somehow changes my line of succession despite keeping the same succession law and my heir is some guy at a different court im not allowed to murder
lel
They've made it too easy with institutions, estates and all that. It will never be as balls to the wall as your first couple of runs of 3mountains.
>muh sliders
Go play eu3 again to dust the nostalgia off. Eu4 is definitely an improvement
So how is HoI4 and EU4 anyway? Worth getting these days?
Jumping into that mod with no actual knowledge on how to play paradox games outside of Hearts of Iron 3 was a fun mistake I made.
Ended with my FL married to a vampire and 3/4ths of the Empire destroyed. But hey least I got vampire titties
eu4 is pretty good but has a lot of borderline mandatory dlc
i hear hoi4 is shit
hoi4 is so shit but i cant stop playing it
Played EU3 before, did the tutorial of CK2. But yeah, some shit needs time to get used to. But exploring these games is half the fun, otherwise the ai can't keep up with you.
Really? What's so bad about HoI4? Should I just pick up HoI3 then?
like i said ive only heard other peoples opinions. apparently its just very barebones
