i remember back in the day raigeki seemed so absurdly OP it was like "duh, that's banned"
to think that power creep is so hard that you're actually allowed to have raigeki
...
Don't you mean

These cards are fucking amazing, I take 3 of each just to keep myself safe from the game ending cards.
are there any stories of this actually happening
Was I the only one that did this in Forbidden Memories?
Start file in a second memory card. Reset if I don't have Raigeki. If I do save and trade it to my main save file
It's less that Raigeki got power crept, since non targetted destruction is still fucking good, and more that nowadays so many cards benefit from being in the graveyard or have some kind of floating effect that just a one and done destruction isn't as powerful as it once was. Use Raigeki on Burning Abyss and they'll just fucking laugh at you for giving them free searches.
They actually have a ruling for the card where you just have to say you accept it.
Does yugioh have silly shit like this?

I'v heard of it happening but never seen it happen. So no.

Modern Yugioh is a remarkable specimen.
Joke sets? Not that i am aware of.
Also
>new Unset looks better than any legal set they have released in a few years.
Everyone has a dark hole back then, it was surprisingly good, some people even had an anti raigeki card that destroyed your monsters instead of the enemy ones
this is such a troll card. reminds me of a deck I had with self-destruct button
>try out YugiohPro
>my gen 1 tactics get btfo by all the new shit like tuners
These ultra-narrow counter cards in Yugioh that counter one specific named card only and do literally nothing else boggle my mind. The game would have to have less than 100 cards in it for these to possibly be worth using.
>tuners
>new
yeah, you are tremendously fucked if even tuners are new to you. The problem with yugioh is that unlike mtg, it doesnt have a standard format. there's just legacy and vintage pretty much. the game could be so much better and bigger but Konami doesnt give a shit
The point is that there are better, general purpose counters than wasting space in a deck for a situational defense against a card that people can only have one of in their deck.
I didn't knew you could have only one to be honest, I only played this with friends long ago, and at least for me, the card did the job just right, also, what other card can negate a dark hole?, I can only think in one of the evilswarm support cards if I'm not mistaken
...
raigeki is just a band aid for the cancer, literally EVERYTHING blocks targeting now so raigeki helps you to get rid of them.
is weenie rush still a thing?
theyre made with (retarded) anti-meta game players in mind. dark hole was a staple for most top decks a while back, so you would run this so you had the counter prepared that wouldnt cost you half your lifepoints or something. it wasnt a good pick there were way better and more versatile counters but you still had a good chance that your opponent was running dark hole and you had an answer i guess
literally any card that says negate the activation of a card
Yugioh always had power creep right from the first expansion the cards in the pool were better offering more attack power for the same tribute price.
It's just gotten to the point where so many cards like being the graveyard or recycle themself that rageki isn't a free combat phase anymore.

Wait, what? What are you left with then? Just the monsters in your hand/on the field?
What is the point of this?
You would be left with no monsters and your opponent still has a monster that can do 3000 or more battle damage.
D.D Dynamite or Helios
Escape from the dark dimension
Oh shit it's my boi. He won me a good amount of games earlier this year
Yes, only monsters left are those in your hand/on the field unless you have something that can bring them back like Return From The Different Dimension.

calm down nigga.
the problem is, we had little games to make people keep up. the tournaments missed 1 or 2 years I think, and the AI is deader than dead nowadays (not to mention at least that 1 game where they took 1 minute to do every move), people just got left behind and are sad that there isnt a good continuous series of game releases for them to keep up with the new cards.
For a player that stopped in one of the old tournaments to come back is a nightmare.

Finances.
You need to keep selling new card expansion. MTG does it by having card sets rotate out.
There's eternal formats like legacy and vintage that never rotate out but the player base for that will always be very small due to the insane prices on old cards: many of which are on a special list of cards that will never be reprinted due to their insane power. So all the players buy new expansions to keep up with the temporary formats. Even if the new expansions have no power creep you still need to buy em.
Yugioh doesn't rotate cards out. It just has one eternal format. That means to sell expansions each new expansion must be stronger than the last. There's no finicial motivation for them to support formats that arn't based around the newest expansions card pool.
"You give up yet?"
LOL
Man. That died out like a decade ago!
didn't magic the gathering had a card like that where you destroyed every single land owned by your enemy?
It was in the ursas saga or someshit
Why is this a spell when it's clearly a trap?
The only appropriate response to all the cancer.
Until you realize the cancer still lives despite being removed from play/banished
>slowly pokes you to death
But why
Someone redpill me on legacy of the duelest. It never goes on sale.
Yeah but magic has mana costs. You need to build up resources. You want to spend 9 mana to nuke your opponent's land basically prevent them from playing any cards for the rest of the game.
Good luck getting that much mana...and with all the mana making cards, extra land, land searches, etc. You know have very few cards left in your deck to deal with your opponenet's own threat....oh don't forget counter magic. Better bring in some ways to deal with that.....also you don't want to lose to a rush deck so you need to bring in cards to deal with that too....fuck what if you build up 9 mana and don't have that card. Better get some searches/draw power or alternative big mana cards....fuck your almost out of card slots and you havn't even picked a win condition much less a secondary win condition incase the first isn't going to work!
MTG is a lot deeper and tougher.
If someone fucks you with a burn on your turn you can play it from your hand.
Because battle damage can happen on your turn.
The card only works with battle damage dummy
todane is a videogame, checkmate
Pirate it so you don't have to spend 80$ on DLC
Is not about winning, it's about making the other players suffer.
Well, Sup Forums?
You activated my trap card!
why do all the cool cards have to be ocg what the fuck
Why was this banned?
The game wasn't particularly fast back then, so being able to wipe the field was a big deal.
Now that you can just immediately get back all the pendulum monsters you lost the very next turn, it's fine.
You can use it in your main phase and than mass summon shit and attack an empty board. It's also reset button than instantly puts you back on par with the enemy.
That card doesn't do anything against the Yata lock.
It should be something like "Destroy target face-up Spirit monster. If opponent has a face-up Yata-garasu on the field, you may play this from your deck".
It's designed to combo with creature swap, which any good spirit deck runs. Duh.
Posting best spell.
When you set up the lock the game just ends, no need to go through it all.
>Wrath of God's you on turn 4
Hehe, nothing personel Planeswalker
It's more about saying "fuck you" to the opponent.
*Obliterates your lifepoints anyways*
who is more powerful canonically? Horakhty or Numeronius Numeronia?
I like this one more.
O-okay.
i just started duel links and im shooting to build a dark magician/chaos/girl deck. how tupid am i? also is this game good enough to spend a lot of time on?
*not so fast*
Its good fun but when you play against the meta then its fucking annoying because not much can beat it.
Fighting aginst an opponent with wraith is great. Lots of tactical choices. Which monsters will you commit to the board. Which will you save until after the wraith hits? Can u bait the wraith?
It's like you newbi-oh players can't wrap your head against the most basic card game tactics like 'don't overcommit'. I've seen so many dumb ass yugioh players devote all their resources to summoning one big monster and than act like whiny bitches when it gets beaten with some bounce/banish/destroy and they are left with an empty board and hand.
*shakes hand*
>*vylon filament*
>opponent never plays the one-of raigeki
>you sit there with three dead cards in your deck.
>actually manage to get one off
>now you still have two dead cards in your deck.
>opponent raigekis when he has an empty board
What the FUCK were they thinking?
>turn 4
>have the upper hand, he places a trap card
>mirror force
>no problem i have a backup strategy
>mirror wall
>ok, that's an UR card, i should be able to attack now
>second mirror wall plus finishing blow from my opponent
I think the meta is only using traps like that one, but i just want to know if is there any card that can counter this? I'm only 2 days i'm not into grinding games that much
How do we fix yugioh?
I though about limiting every card and only allow multiple copies of something that requires it to function.
No my point was that MUH RESOURCES is bullshit. MtG isn't some hyper slow, methodical game and in revent times Standard has been boring partly because the game started falling to "turn dudes sideways" with little variants. Also I don't care about creature destruction I play degenerate graveyard shit and suffer for it because MtG players are fags that can't go one week without crying about Dredge. The concept of not overextending is even more important in YGO anyway.
*plays link monster*
You should try an ice barrier deck, it can carry you through all the shitty decks that exist (until you get to gold)(because its fun). Literally almost all decks that exist before gold are shit, relying on shitty tactics like waiting the whole game to win through a deck out. (i know from experience.) Once you get to gold, invest your gems into one of the meta decks.
>No Synchro
>No XYZ
>No Pendulum
>I don't know what Link is but could probably get rid of those too
>fag who doesn't know what he's talking about tries to dictate the game
Get rid of links and just limit the amount of times you can summon from Extra Deck to 2
MTG is better.
The problem with dredge is that it's all countered by niche cards that never get main-decked unless it's a very meta-environment.
GY based decks have always been like that. When they are not expected they get an auto-win game 1 and if you have no SB maybe the whole match
What is it with Magic players coming into Yugioh threads and talking about how their game is better when they don't even play Yugioh to compare the two?
There's usually no way of knowing whether or not an opponent has Raigeki unless you know the person and you've seen the deck. Because it's often the first thing that gets dropped, it's hard to read too. It's a one-of because it's limited and a lot of budget players just don't buy it at all because it's expensive. A lot of monsters benefit from being in the Graveyard or being sent there, are just immune to destruction, or the board you set up can negate the Raigeki anyway. It's hardly a factor to consider when deciding how much you should commit.
