Is monster Hunter an acceptable experience in solo mode? I've been playing monster Hunter 3 ultimate for about 14 hours and I can't help but feel the entire game is build toward braindead MMORPG grindfuckers. There's endless shit to farm and every big hunt is scaled for multiplayer making solo gameplay infuriating.
Should I sell this piece of shit and forgot about this experience? At least with dark souls games you can play solo. I'm really pissed.
>and every big hunt is scaled for multiplayer no they're not
you're just shit, MH in multiplayer is piss poor easy
Adrian Long
Hunts scale to player count.
Leo James
Multiplayer in MH is for faggots, you only play multiplayer when you have your fully upgraded armor and weapons.
Brayden Hughes
>Endless shit to grind There's a finite number of missions. You at most have to stop to "grind" for like 40 minutes 3-4 times total. Once at some point in low rank, once in the beginning of high rank, once in the beginning of G Rank, and then once towards the end of G Rank. Any extra grinding you do is entirely because you want to, not because you need to.
Julian Thomas
I don't have any problems with the gameplay. And I use the switch axe which is pretty fast.
No, I'm talking about the fact that half the game is you farming/hunting shit instead of having a real fun experience. It may be good for souless gooks but I like having a little more meat on my food.
And in every big fight, you clearly see it was build with 2 or 3 players in mind, with people specialised and having different items for every situation.
In solo you're quickly trying to find your shit in some clogged inventory midfight.
Elijah Gutierrez
You were not built for Monster Hunter user.
Elijah Lopez
>In solo you're quickly trying to find your shit in some clogged inventory midfight. What? Of all the things you could have said about Monster Hunter, that is not something the game has a problem with.
Nathan Evans
I'm about to start MH3U (dont have a handhell, and it works flawlessly on CEMU now apparently)-- any tips?
Cameron Bell
If you find LR(which I assume you are at in after 14 hours after all) tiring then you just suck.If its your first game its fine, you'll get better
Grinding for items(blue mushrooms, honey etc) will become easier with time as you unlock better farm options Don't be like OP if it's your first MH
Mason Sullivan
>with people specialised this isn't how monster hunter works. everyone does DPS, it just goes faster in multiplayer. if anything, with more people you tend to get in eachother's way. the game is perfectly doable solo if you're not a shitter. make the best weapon you can for whatever type you use and hunts shouldn't take that long. generally it's whatever has the highest attack but certain weapon types element can be more important than raw attack, such as light bowgun, bow, and dual blades. in which case, you need to make a lot of different weapons so you have one of each element. if you're not into the farming materials and crafting aspect, don't use those weapons.
Luke Ross
I started MH with MH4U abut 2.5 years ago (or so) From the start, the length of hunts stuck out to me as a bit long, but the core gameplay is fun to me so the hunt length is a good thing to me.
If hunts are taking too long, take more risks and quit being such a gigantic pussy. Switchaxe is probably the best weapon to be aggressive with. Minimize fighting in Axe mode as much as possible; fight in Sword mode and abuse its sidesteps to be in close.
With inventory, I have no idea what you're talking about. Combining items mid-quest is seldom-done unless you're gunning (or doing a particularly hard hunt and combining potions with honey for more mega potions, or traps).
The main issue I can understand you having is resource acquisition and maintaining a decent amount of them. It gets easier to maintain resources as you get more farm slots / duplication; but in the meantime, try challenging yourself and only use the blue box's resources. That's what I did and it made it way more fun knowing I couldnt ust heal up at any time.
Overall, if the core gameplay isn't your thing, that's all there is to it. Just know that if you give up now, you're a gigantic pussy and Souls is considerably easier than MH.
Jonathan Cox
On 3ds yes. Having to switch between marker, potion, hot or cold drink, blade tools, meat, cooking utensils and shit in the middle of a fight against a flying nigger throwing burning balls of hate is a pain.
And you have to unsheat your weapon to use said item.
Every time.
Fuck this this is retarded.
Jaxon Nelson
Monster hunter is a bad game . It's really only a meme. Shit gameplay
Caleb Powell
L+Y/A. Slot 4 quick-use items on the touch screen. Idk what to tell you man, if this is a problem for you, you may be retarded.
Souls' menu is more convoluted by a great deal.
Michael Richardson
Bitch, I soloed the entirety of MH3U on the 3DS, I literally played it until my 3DS broke and never had a single problem.
Anthony Thompson
You can switch items while fighting. Why are you bringing hot and cold drinks? Why are you bringing your cooking utensils to a hunt, you rarely need more than the Rations provided, or one stamina building item like Well Done Steak or Energy Drink. It's not the games fault you're choosing to bring every item under the sun in your badge.
Also: >Blade Tools ???
I have a feeling you're just shit posting without ever playing the game.
Nathaniel Kelly
>Just know that if you give up now, you're a gigantic pussy and Souls is considerably easier than MH.
Don't you mean souls has a better and more filled campaign instead of relying on shitty hunt in the same repetitive map with stupid shit to farm?
You need a lot of autism power to prefer mh desu.
Samuel Wilson
Souls' world is better MH's core gameplay is better ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Levi Hall
So you hate the game and then come shitpost about it to bait You
wew I bet he meant Whetstone as blade tools
Anthony Rodriguez
>14 hours in >game is too hard how the fuck did you ever beat dark souls lmao
Wyatt Hughes
If it's a cold map of course I'll need hot drink, same with hot environment: I'll obligatory need something cold.
And I meant sharpening tools earlier.
But hey, bet you're the kind of consumers who close his eyes in front of major default just to defend his point. Like the faggot defending the shitty 3ds stick you have to use with the new 3ds XL.
Bentley Kelly
People are shitting on you because your reasons for disliking the game aren't grounded in reality lmao
Its a case of >works for me :DDD -999 / 1000 people >its broken :( -1 / 1000 people
Ethan Lopez
It's not really hard, just boring and tedious.
Gabriel Murphy
No one knows. His body was never found. He's either dead or he's living in the Lake Mermaid Kingdom.
Sebastian Green
>complains that fights are too hard because "they're built for multiplayer" >gets told they're not built for multiplayer >uhhh...no I meant it's just tedious guys I'm not a shitter I swear
Aiden Gutierrez
But MH online is balanced around two people tho That doesn't mean you cant or shouldn't solo but its the truth
Eli Evans
>Body never found >In a small pond while being recorded by someone who knows exactly where it happened
Hunter Cox
It took them like 70 years before they found the wreck of Titanic and that ship was the size of a hundred normal lake golfers
Aiden Price
Your first hunt where you need to capture alive some giant jaggi is a solid proof of what I'm saying. It's smooth as butter online and it's kinda meh in solo.
It's not hard, just clumsy as fuck fighting and setting a trap at the same time alone.
Caleb Young
>just clumsy as fuck fighting and setting a trap at the same time alone. So you are just a shitter. Maybe try a more mobile weapon
Nolan Rodriguez
I'd say that is exactly how it feels to whiff a golfswing
Adam Clark
I managed to do it again it's wasn't hard. It's not about being a shitter it's about smooth and clear gameplay. This shit feel like 2005.
Liam Jackson
ooga booga
Michael Flores
I’ve played MH for the past decade solo. If I can do it you can do it user
Brody Price
as I said before, try a more mobile weapon like the dual blades or sword and shield. Big heavy weapons clearly aren't your style
Oliver Stewart
Multiplayer is the real meat of the game but solo is an extremely important part of it too and if you never play solo I don't want you in my room
Parker Robinson
>SA >big heavy weapon Hello?
Joseph Johnson
I got through all the main hunts solo, G rankers are challenging but doable with the right equipment and experience. Though some of the hunts are designed to be played with friends, like Jhen Mohran and multi-monster hunts. All still doable alone though. Farming in MH is inevitable though, even if you play with others.
Josiah Cook
Nigga I just finished armored core 1 and arena with heavy armored build. That's not a problem.
I'm just feeling like I'm missing a part of the game by being offline and I'm asking if it's worth it.
Josiah Wilson
Offline is not hard. Even adding a single player more makes the game like 500% easier you're just a shitter.
Cameron Hernandez
MH online is the same game but now you have to deal with shitters that inflate the monster's health, hit you with their swords, and shit on your experience in general, so no, you ain't missing shit.
Zachary Lopez
But soloing 140s isnt fun
Ian Campbell
Bullshit, soloing 140 Jangs and Jhos is the most kino experience in videogames
Charles Adams
Yes, but you'll never need both. The key word that you skipped over was AND. There's never a reason to have both.
Carter Nelson
I was just exaggerating the problems just like OP does, it's clear he doesn't enjoy MH, online won't change anything.
Nathaniel Wilson
>half the game is you farming/hunting shit instead of having a real fun experience.
Noah Anderson
I've been playing monster hunter online solo and it's a fun experience
Joseph Murphy
>Fight monsters >Git gud at fighting onsters >Can kill monsters fast now, start targeting specific parts like tails horns and back >Get more resources, make armor and weapon >Fight new monsters Wowie it's almost like that's the core gameplay loop. If that's not for you, stop playing. No need to be such a faggot about it
Brody Jackson
Ultimately multiplayer hunting is the apex of monster hunter. Working as a team and coordinating interesting mechanics. Single player is largely just practice for multiplayer.
Jackson Rodriguez
I wish I could enjoy it, there's something that doesn't click my button. Doing a quest is the same as doing a chore.
I'll be back to DQ8 and sell this.
Yes, I get the irony.
Brayden Ward
>You need to touch the touchscreen in order to trigger the attack that allow you to hit vertically with the switchblade.
>No way to remap this shit
Fuck you microsoft
Jonathan Taylor
I too struggle to get into it. Like if I want Tetsucabra armour, I have to hunt the Tetsucabra like 5-6 times to get enough body parts to craft a full set. Repeating the same stuff again and again is no fun. Maybe it'd be fun with friends, but literally every game is fun with friends.
Brandon Jones
A+X
Tyler Mitchell
This this this. I wanted to craft a longsword or a switchblade but the materials required force you to farm forever. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, I use every possibility to make thing easy like the trade, the farm and so, but still you need to hit the same rock 100 times or hunt the same bug for 1 years in order to craft a new toys.
Isaiah Foster
You can have fun by yourself, but the grinding aspect is definitely something you can't ignore that's much better with others. Go jump online if you're on Wii U
Jacob Watson
Then what the point of putting this on the touchscreen? Damn.
Gabriel White
>At least with dark souls games you can play solo. I'm really pissed you almost got me mr ruseman
Noah Barnes
> farming/hunting shit instead of having a real fun experience >not getting better and more efficient through the farming/hunting This is where the real fun is, mang. Nothing feel better than getting good.
Thomas Jones
Multitasking, I fucking hate mining for rare materials but I love destroying monsters, so I pick a mission where I can mine some shit and bully some devil jhos in the meantime.
Nathaniel Gonzalez
>Start optimised multitasking mission >Mine some shit and stuff >Finally kill the big bad boss of the zone >Strip said motherfucker >Inventory full, you have 3.5 SECONDS to drop thing from your inventory before mission end or the loot will disappear and your mother will die in her sleep
Robert Howard
>works flawlessly on CEMU
NIGGA WHAT?????????
Michael Murphy
Do they? Guild hall hunts "scale"in that they have more health and power than village quest monsters, but I don't think they've ever dynamically scaled based on the number of hunters.
Tyler Sullivan
The Titanic is also on the bottom of the ocean, they weren't sure exactly where it sunk, and the two halves weren't even close to each other. The ocean is *big*.
Carson Gray
the size ratio between the Titanic and the part of the ocean where they knew it sank is about the same as the size of an average male and the size of an average lake
Jose Bennett
YOU MOTHERFUCKER
William Garcia
Quests don't scale. Multiplayer hall quests are balanced for 2 players just by inflating health values I believe.
Eli Campbell
not simply >lr + y/a >taptaptaptaptap >Y my biggest issue is distinguishing potions from hot drinks because i'm colorblind and even then it's not as big a deal as it is for you, i mean >visual branlet
that's fucking new
Thomas Sullivan
meant forsorry
James Lewis
To fuck with you
Oliver Lee
for normies like you, i bet you also use the items interface of the touch screen
real nib- scratch that, DECENT fucking nibbas only put visual shit in the touch screen
Christian Williams
I like Jho's 140 moveset and behavior but they did the most absolute bullshit with its Apex threshold. After the first knockout it takes fucking ages for the next one, it makes solo gunning near impossible since all the weakpoints are constantly blocked
Nicholas Cook
I put the stamina/healthbar and map on the upper screen cause I like 3d effect.
The touchscreen is only for taunt, so I can roleplay as a sitting druid telling his tale to the closest mushrooms available.
Fight me.
Jace Thomas
>colorblind Max stack of hot/cold drinks is 5 max stack for potion/mega potion is 10
Robert Perez
>3D effect
I like how it looks on 3D but 60fps is preferable.
Ryan Wood
How's monster Hunter 4 and xx on new 3ds XL, can it run the game at 60 with 3d disabled?
Blake Sanders
It can barely run the game a 60fps at all
Owen Sullivan
use greatsword as a tool for that shit literally piss easy to use and broken as fuck, just don't hold the charge all the way, let go of the button exactly when you get the final white flash
it's okay if it makes you upset that you'll have to move from your comfy main to the dull tool, i was upset too when i learned that my main god-tier weapon from freedom unite, the longsword, had been reduced to a literal meme in 4u
after i switched to gs i beat my first white fatalis first try
>implying that matters when i'm 20/30 minutes in against a deviant/140 and barely have 3 or 4 left
Charles Moore
3U is 60fps on a normal 3DS if you turn 3D off from the system settings.
Aiden Miller
Glad I got the last version of jewtendo 3ds.
Jacob Long
also i'm not THAT colorblind although i do sometimes confuse cold drinks with cleansers
Levi Garcia
>Is monster Hunter an acceptable experience in solo mode? Yes. I wouldn't play it any other way.
Leo Perry
I hope
Julian Young
i originally thought the framerate on generations was bad but heard about turning 3d off
so i got the game and just turns out the demo runs like saggy tits, in the full game it's much, much more tolerable
also turning 3d off makes your game look like sharp spiky shit, to the point where it's embarrasing even for 3ds
Dominic Gray
the health bar is okay, you really don't want to have to look down for that
Ayden Gray
>tfw no one realized this was a Monster Hunter thread
what the fuck
Joshua Barnes
>relying on shitty hunt in the same repetitive map with stupid shit to farm? I've got news for you buddy, that's the game If you don't like killing the same monster in the same maps over and over and over again then you don't like monster hunter. It's as simple as that
