Only a few more years and you can play an actual game.

Demo.

My computer is too shit to run it decently and prices are too high right now for an upgrade.

...

It might be worth fully releasing it at that point on consoles since I'm sure even the Nintendo one will be able to run in to high settings.

Did they announce the release date yet?

sorry for whut?

No, fuck you.

From a quick glance I thought that was a t'au devilfish.

lol no

sooo... what do you actually DO in this game? is it just another no man's sky

you run the same 5 missions until you get bored.

...

>it's a scam guys
>there's no game, it's just a ruse to get you to buy ships
>it's never going to come out
>guys stop being excited it's never going to come out
>guys stop having fun

Looks like a more expensive No Man's Sky. I really don't get why people are hyped.

how did he get into an empty game so he actually had a resemblance of a framerate?

Think EVE online in first person with less menus and full sized planets/cities/stations you can walk around in.

>>guys stop having fun
what fun are star citizen fags even having in the game? there's fuck all to do .

Dude was probably an Evocati tester and was able to play it just as the PTU build updated, and before anyone else could log on.

think eve online with everything you mentioned except without all the things that make eve online politically and economically interesting

that was meant as a future extrapolation, I think

>fully releasing
they don't have a anything but a handful of polished tech demos to show off, even this alpha is the same

>My configuration, using Adobre Creative Studio : OS - Windows 10 Case - Corsair Carbide Series 330R Titanium Edition M/B - Asrock X99 Extreme4 PSU - Corsair HX1000i RAM - Ripjaws 16Go 2400Mhz Quad-channel CAS15 Proc. - i7-5820K 4.6Ghz, watercooled with Corsair H100i GPU - Inno3D iChill GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB Black Series SSD - Samsung EVO 500 Go Hardrive - WD Blue Desktop 1 To

If it ever comes out and is feature complete as advertised, I'll probably get it. Why the fuck anyone would buy it right now is beyond me though.

will you buy my game once it's feature complete? the features are that you can do anything and be anything and see anything. that'll be $1,200 for access to the pre-alpha.

Being a fan of space combat games is painful. They aren't made anymore, Star Citizen is just a joke that has morphed into a shitty FPS hybrid, X: Rebirth was more of an abortion, Volition is busy making randumb games instead of trying another space combat title, there are no promising space games on the horizon.

I've never been so engaged by excel spreadsheets before

Of course this is not going to have the depth EVE has, EVE is a 15 year old game and has had years to add content/systems. This is a game targeted at people who played freelancer.

>This is a game targeted at people who played freelancer
people who played freelancer already know what a fraud chris roberts is though.

Is there another game where you can do this, though?
youtube.com/watch?v=IQA5ZTnhEe8

>pre-alpha
No, I'll maybe buy your game once it's actually out.

>another pretty video
>guy does nothing but move around
>promises met: zero
>scam victims
Also those menus seem heavily inspired by Elite:Dangerous, they're basically the same thing

can't wait for No Man's Sky 2

So... did they make flying/dogfighting feel any less shitty?

>This is a game targeted at people who played freelancer.
But Freelancer had an extensive single player mode. This has a tacked on SP campaign when the game is all about the multiplayer mode.

I'm not going to buy the game until it's finished, you'd have to be a retard to do that. But I'm pleasantly surprised to see how far the game has come in the last year or two.

I do have to laugh at the people who are so set in the belief that this was all a scam from the beginning though. Wow, it's almost like a hugely ambitious space game that was announced at the start of development rather than close to release like an AAA game is going to have a very long development cycle. Did you fags really think they were going to crap this out in 2 years?

I know but I mean in a few years when they eventually have something to release. Right now being in development is far more profitable. But when next gen consoles are out they'll probably have something to show for and I'm sure they'll be able to run in since the game is designed to run on today's hardware. Or maybe early access will get standardized on consoles as well and they can get even more people in on the scam, who knows. Although I think they might not want to risk a shitstorm with Sony and MS if people started demanding refunds plus it being a PC-master race game was a big selling point during the Kickstarter if I remember correctly.

I guess people were just expecting them to meet their release schedule as advertised.

so? I loved freelancer as a kid. I don't want exactly the same game with shinier graphics though. Proper online multiplayer wasn't really a thing when Freelancer was out, so why not have it more multiplayer focused this time round?

What if a person liked an extensive single player mode? You can do new things, just don't pretend Freelancer was all about multiplayer with a CoD-esque token campaign, because it wasn't.

The graphics are pretty nice, especially textures and the number of small ship/weapon details. While the question about future content is still open, I have to admit it's already starting to resemble a game

It'd be nice. If they'd put up "estimated release: 2020" they would have been laughed at, so I guess they put in something believeable when in reality it's more like "it's done when it's done", and anybody looking at the shit they were planning would know that it was going to take longer if they wanted even half the features they wanted to put in.

seemless transitions from planet surface to space?
yeah

>have it more multiplayer focused
sc supports like 8 people in the same instance before it lags to shit. people expecting the scale of eve in this game are in for a rude awakening.

looks cool where can I get this game?

It's weird to see a spaceship hovering above a planet without any sort of vertical thrust

Well then, maybe accept that this game isn't for you? Not every game has to fulfill everybody's interest. Making games try to appeal to every audience's want is how we ended up in this mess. It has a singleplayer but from the very beginning they said that multiplayer was going to be the focus.

Then why not put up 'done when it's done' if that's their intent from the beginning?

Do you really think that was what I was referencing to? Of course I meant flying a ship around a planet sized city, between buildings and shit

I know it isn't, but you said "this is for the Freelancer audience" when it clearly isn't, this is something else

because that's worked amazingly for developers in the past, hasn't it?

Well, I liked freelancer and I'm perfectly happy with a multiplayer focused space-sim in a similar vein. Just because you're making something for the audience of old game X doesn't mean it has to be a 1:1 copy of the orginal.

Blizzard has done it with a number of their releases and they still sold like hotcakes. I just don't get why they would deliberately put up a release date that they knew they were not going to meet and made zero indication of it to their prospective investors/backers.

>Only a few more years and you can play an actual game.

Yeah, nah. It's been 6 years and they haven't even finished a barren planet, with no animals, no nature, no atmosphere or weather or anything. Just a barren, desert planet, and it's STILL not done after 6 Mother Fucking Years of development. Entirety of World of Warcraft only took 5 years to create and it was a more complete game title. Star Citizen lacks a questing system, there's no rescue system, there's no mining system, there's no firefighting system, there's no bounty system in place despite being a promised goal of the game. 3.0 lacks everything we were told was going to be in Star Citizen, it's just a tech demo.

If you think spending more than $5 for a glorified demo, where you fly a ship around an empty planet is a success, then I have this pet rock to sell you. Star Citizen will never be finished and will never be more than a demo.

Who said it has to be a copy of the original? Just because you're making two single player focused games doesn't mean they're identical, there are a lot of things you can do to make them different.

youtu.be/IQA5ZTnhEe8?t=31m10s
posted earlier in the thread literally shows him landing in a grassy savanna next to a big ass city.

This thing has obvious feature creep. Wanting to do a FPS mode before you even have the ship combat figured out and environments is a retarded move, they'll end up with a mediocre space game and a mediocre shooter. Haven't they learned a thing from No Man's Sky trying to do everything? I don't give a fuck about exploring planets on foot, SPACE games are nowhere to be seen. There are quadrillion first person shooters, it's just so stupid to try and make your game work as one too. Fucking hack frauds.

Not as painful as being a fan of star wars games. Especially star wars rts games

Because it's the guy who made Wing Commander. That's the only reason this scam has worked.

You want me to believe, what the dev is showing, instead of the actual gameplay of 3.0? Look at what is in 3.0, then come back here, once you have offloaded all that bullshit you're carrying. 3.0 is what the game really is like, so far, what you posted is lies to keep suckers buying .jpegs.

>Freelancer

I only wanted Squadron 42 because I preferred Starlancer to Freelancer.

Wow. I can't believe people still believe marketing shit like this, especially considering they probably got suckered into buying NMS.

And keep thinking it, because you're never going to play it.

The only real hope is Freespace 2 Open mods. But that's a pretty good hope, because FS2 Open can do a lot.

Where is the proofs? Show me real gameplay of this, not select dev videos.

>Blizzard has done it with a number of their releases and they still sold like hotcakes.
Blizzard wasn't trying to get people to buy in-game ships for hundreds of dollars.

So, in order to sell in-game ships for hundreds and even thousands of dollars, the developers of this game put up a release date that they knew full well they were never going to meet?

>"""""gameplay"""""""""

What annoys me is that constantly some new supposedly space combat game has little or compromised space combat gameplay.
No Man's Sky was a scam not due to multiplayer to me, but because 95% of that dreadful game is walking around shooting rocks, and the ship is a glorified fast travel mode, where you shoot rocks and get fuel, there's like fuck all to do in a ship. Now Star Citizen is showing this focus on first person shooting, hey Fraud Roberts, what happened to just making a space combat game? There are millions of FPS games around, now the space combat genre is dead.

Gotta pull in more shekels by promising FPS gameplay.

>Still in alpha
Sorry for what?

I think the current obsession with "open world" gaming is at least partly to blame. Everything has to be open world now. You couldn't make something like Freespace in the current mainstream gaming climate. "Wait, it's completely linear? What the fuck is this shit? Where's the open world?"

Wasn't Star Citizen funded big time exactly because it promised a space combat game though? This doesn't add up, people were buying ships in droves and not FPS equipment. I say people are starved for a space combat game.

I'm still waiting for that proof, user. This is your chance, you can show everyone how retarded I am with a simple video of anyone playing star citizen and doing what you just described. Are you going to pass up this chance of proving someone wrong on the internet?

Can't do it can you? That's what I thought, bitch.

>because it promised a space combat game though
No it was space sim mmo first and foremost then they kept adding things that people know
>member freespace? we are gonna ahave epic space battles and story driven campaign too
>member CoD? we are gonna have space marine fps shottan too

>Year 2025
>New and more powerful console comes out, it has a console exclusive counterpart made in less time and much more better and successful
>Star Citizen isnĀ“t have come out yet
>mfw

I'm just going to close this thread tab now. It is getting really tiring to keep beating on the dead horse that is Star Citizen; there's no discussion cause there's nothing to discuss or examine or theorize. It's dead in the water.

>"he needed to deceive me"
>defending people who lied to you about just about everything rather than admitting you made a foolish decision
>every video released is proof that it's not a scam

you're crazy. do you wear a dog costume

I laf'd

so...this is the power ....of pc...
...woah....

The problem with star citizen is the graphics are too fucking high.

I guarantee that with minecraft tier graphics, a good space game that takes roots from original elite, roguelike, hardcore pvp and piracy, ship boarding with corridor gunfights and ship stealing, planet exploration with unique randomly generated, heavy freighter trading ect. Just a fucking hardcore space sim. One of the reasons eve worked is because it's bloody cutthroat.

No modern space sim has any of this. Elite came close but halfway through development they gave up and started pandering to fucking middle age men carebears.

Graphics are kind of a big selling point tho. And they definitely can't go back now.

But does he have his Geek Squad protection subscription live?

Star Citizen was sold on graphics though, Roberts said that the game was going to target GTX 680 owners, because that was high end GPU back then.

>star citizen was sold on the graphics
I honestly disagree. It played a big part in helping the kickstarter with that one demo of flying around outside the bengal carrier, but that was showing off the engine and smooth fps, not high res graphics. Plus chris yammering on about all the cool shit they have planned for you to do.

Now the PC requirements are so high it's killing off the potential playerbase to just those who have ultra rigs. Chances are they've already brought their fare share of the game.

Star citizen's current playerbase will never rise above what it is now, even when they release this monster in like 7 years

I do remember Chris straight out saying he wanted to appeal to the high end PCs crowd.
Now there's probably a lot of optimization to be done, it will run better when it is in beta in 2050

>Now the PC requirements are so high it's killing off the potential playerbase to just those who have ultra rigs.

Even back when I first saw the game years ago I was like, "arent these graphics TOO good for mmo?" Like what happens when a bunch of players decide to fight in a smallish area? mass performance drop because of how detailed everything is?

There's no need for a beta in 2050, because we'll already be living in Star Citizen

Steady 26fps
