why is this game so boring? its packed with tons of quest and content and yet it is so goddamn boring.

settlements are boring, no interesting locations, no interesting quests, and it has a boring opening like most modern bethesda games
its fun on survival mode
I've just been stuffing the game full of mods to get my entertainment.
It is actually really good with mods. I had my game modded like STALKER but I deleted it because the performance was so shit. I got a 1080 Ti recently and wanted to try it again and I'm stuck either waiting for someone to upload the cracked latest patch or buying a key.
I was ok with the game, but too much content seemed to be reused (and I don't mean the radiant quests). There are some interesting areas, but they end too quickly. The only side quests I really enjoyed were the Chinese sub and retarded robots blasting off a building
That's every Bethesda game though.
It's not an RPG, its a generic FPS masquerading as an RPG. Nothing you do actually matters and you can't play the character you want. Every improvement that was made over previous entries is either implemented poorly or hampered by some other feature
It's just a bad fucking game
shitty rpg
shitty shooter
looks and feels like it was designed for legit 10 years old kids
into the trash it goes
>why is this game so boring? its packed with tons of quest and content and yet it is so goddamn boring.
Probably because the combat is shit.
It has the worst gunplay of any AAA shooter. The aiming is shit, the gun sounds are shit and the impact feedback is shit. Not only that but the AI is shit too and not even remotely challenging.
Fallout 4 would be a GOTYAY if it had good gunplay and better enemy AI.
Because the core gameplay is terrible and the game attempts to cover up by having all the extraneous activities available in massive quantities.
> I had my game modded like STALKER
Why? It would be nothing like it no matter how much you mod it
Plot is boring and uninteresting
Very few builds to make
Roleplay is very strict with voiced character + essential NPCs
Settlement building is nothing but a facebook-tier minigame
Only 1 city hub
Quests are all "go there and kill x" or "go there and take y"
The only cool thing I saw in this game was that NPCs react to heavy firepower. Seeing raiders shit their pants when I brought a minigun was priceless.
Then again, Bethesda is lazy, and they won't have the same reaction with other heavy weaponry like missile launchers.
It was all about the openin scene that gave you the power. They only tried on that one quest and everything else they half assed
>why is this game so boring?
just build settlements and ignore the main story
what are some good mods? And good quest mods?
nexusmods.com
there are a few
Because there's no reason to do anything. You get access to some of the best shit pretty early. They tried to make a super action shooter and the combat is OK, but the characters are all a fucking joke. Even the "twist" was presented in such a boring and shitty way. Fo4 wasn't bad it was just mediocre. Just like all Bethesda games they have great potential but they drop the ball at every opportunity
>Even the "twist" was presented in such a boring and shitty way.
there was no twist
>crashes the toaster that is my PC
Yea comes a point in which you have to rely on mods to extend your enjoyment with it. But unlike some games where you use mods to extend the fun you're having, in FO4 you download mods to have fun but to also fix the game.
This, mostly focusing on the "access to the best shit" part, you will reach a level high enough to overpower everything and it helps lose interest when you can steamroll anything that crosses your path.
Any good sex mods yet?
not yet but soon
>tons of quests and content
I remember how hyped I felt to meet that weird scientist dude with the immaculately perfect house who sends you to the asylum to get an alien artifact and/or kill his psychopathic dad that is possessed by the artifact. Then you can set him free and turn on the scientist, killing him and the rest of the family.
Your reward is a forgettable buff and nothing happens, ever, it's never mentioned again that you let some agent of space cthulu out of his cell and killed anyone who knew about or could stop him.
It's like settlements. Sure, it's content, but who cares? They don't even give you the illusion that anything you do matters.
The only time I enjoyed the game was when I booted up survival mode, got to the point where all factions are active and fighting. Then just exploring on foot the whole game. A survival experience - watching war break out across boston.
The story was absolute dogshit. I wanted to wipe out the shitty hippie Railroad, take over the institute - cease Synthetic production - unite with the Brotherhood of Steel and then absorb the minute men.
But instead I was given only one way of solving a problem. My skills meant nothing. Speech checks / alternative branching dialogue only lead to being paid slightly more and nothing more.
>a forgettable buff and nothing happens, ever, it's never mentioned again
holy fuck this, I thought aliens were going to invade but nothing happened. I actually had to look up to see if it was a glitch or not
What about soon Loli sex mods?
I disagree, I modded the shit out of it but I honestly had more fun browsing mods than playing the game, even with mods.
if the regular sex mods aren't working, then the loli are definitely not up and running. And the guy that made the loli animation in Skyrim quit because "nobody was giving me money"
This was me with Skyrim. Spent more time figuring out what mods to use than playing the game.
The same reason why all the elder scrolls games are boring
They put quantity over quality and instead of jumping into the deep sea of an entertaining and interesting RPG you are waddling through an ocean of ankle deep shallow gameplay.
I just got Oblivion cause i wanted to give it another chance. I actually had a bit of fun with it but already in the first dungeon I realized: It's just one encounter after the other and it's always the same. Even if it looks different. Even if its different enemies, at the end of the day its just whacking your way through hordes of monsters and maybe a tiny bit of lockpicking (or hacking in fallout) if you have the skill.
There are barely any alternative routes, no way to influence the game in your way, no way to individualize the experience.
It basically takes whatever makes RPGs good, throws it out the window, and leaves you with boring combat and skill checks.
That is the reason why all of the Bethesda games are so fucking boring - I dare not taking a look at Morrowind these days, because I might realize it is the same
If Bethesda had even a shred of creativity left in it they'd give you dungeons like Arx Fatalis.
They have the framework (or most of it), they're just not using it.
Damn, the mods would have been better with vr.
I liked if.
That's a fat ass.
are those puppies custom made?
I actually mean that as a legitimate question. Are these just "stock" 3D models or are people making these giant tiddy characters from scratch and just for these mods?
Cause they don't look like they are from a generator.
upgrading house in fucking far cry is more fun than this shit
>are those puppies custom made?
Play New Vegas instead.
same
>quests and content
>its literally >go to location A, kill 4 dudes, pick up X > head back to quest giver, the game
I'm not sure which one exactly he refers to but there is a twist.
If he meant the "your son is the director of the Institute" twist then yea it was poorly executed with only a few hints that are thrown at your face instead of you finding them yourself.
If he meant the "twist" involving Institute's goal to rebuild humanity with synths then that one was poorly executed too with it all amounting to "You people don't understand, we're doing all of this for the greater good."
Either way it all boils down to a simple greentext:
>the absolute state of Fallout 4's writing.
>If Bethesda had even a shred of creativity left in it they'd give you dungeons like Arx Fatalis.
What the fuck are you talking about? Arx Fatalis is one giant dungeon. You are comparing a small part of Bethesda's world with the entire map of another game. How about you compare the two entire maps to each other?
>no way to influence the game in your way, no way to individualize the experience
And it's funny you bring up these complaints and then say Bethesda needs to be more like Arx Fatalis. Arx Fatalis is way fucking worse than any TES game as far as allowing any semblance of roleplaying.
I really like Fallout 3 and New Vegas and just want the chance to explore another world with the same kind of atmosphere, humor, etc.
Is it really that bad? It still has all the different costumes and weapons and shit right? I don't need it to be some D&D "you can do anything" experience.
>Is it really that bad?
yes and some of the protagonists voice acting is spliced together in some parts
Voiced protagonist killed the game for me.
I've been playing the series since F1, and I gotta say, F4 is the laziest most uninspired one yet. Really hope Bethesda doesn't take this approach with ES6
>I really like Fallout 3 and New Vegas
clear indicator that you won't like fall out 4
fucking fakefactory tier mods
The gunplay was the least of Fallout 4's problems
Any of you have a good mod list for someone trying to run a Four Play play through? Every time I try to set up Four Play my shit crashes like crazy, even when I follow the Guide. I've done the Sexlab play through of Skyrim, now just want to do one for Fallout 4.
it's shallow as fuck. no drama, no horror, no humor. music, dialogues, design everything is so plain. i want to compare it with disney cartoon but disney cartoons have actual characters and story sometimes
I actually played Arx recently and after playing Oblivion now I only confirmed what I already suspected. The one is a small game with strong design, the other is a vast game with weak design.
Size is pretty much the only quality bethesda games can bring to the table.
And I aint shittin you either here.
>How about you compare the two entire maps to each other?
Even then Arx is several magnitudes more inventive with its design.
Compare just a part of a level in Arx with lets say a part of the world in a TES game. Arx completely blows TES out of the water wrt puzzles, environment design/layouts, NPC design (even the "memorable" ones in TES are faceless as fuck) and back in the day even combat and magic (TES' melee is fine by now, but even in Skyrim that isn't a highlight or anything)
Arx design is concise and thought through. Elder scrolls almost always throws at you whatever the current level designer could find in the asset browser and maybe brushes over it with a bunch of flavor text in scrolls/dialogue.
> Arx Fatalis is way fucking worse than any TES game as far as allowing any semblance of roleplaying.
user, roleplayin isn't dressing up funny and acting like you're an NPC.
Arx gives the player several possibilities wrt problem solution, pretty much aping several small Pen & Paper scenarios. Decision making and finding different solutions is what makes RPGs the games they are.
Talking about decisions: Spending points in Arx character stat system actually has some weight gameplay wise. Unlike in most of TES.
Bethesda should take the guys from Arkane and have them work on parts of the next TES. Haven't bought them for nothing after all.
I also find that they completely botched their chance to show the world before the war. Making that whole portion of the story arc meaningless.
You could have done multiple things prior to the bombs falling which could have had roll on effects later in the game. As well as making smaller choices which could have changed your occupation and other characteristics. Think of how Tyranny allowed to make major decisions at the start.
I also cannot stand the fact i'm forced to care about my wife or child. That every dialogue option is my character screaming SHAUN!! like a bitch. When I speak with preston at the start and only have the option to tell him "Oh yeah, this was my neighborhood i'm a cryogenically frozen pre-war citizen". A fact that I would have rather left to myself.
post that picture where nv has 9 shotguns and fallout4 only 2
>"improves the gunplay"
>has shit guns
God I really hated this.
Want an unique weapon with its own model? Nah man, have a standard weapon with a legendary effect on it.
Gamebyro shit
And the combat shotgun is just the combat rifle with some slight differences
Has someone made a total overhaul mod of Fallout 4 called Alt F4? If not, this is a missed opportunity.
You're wrong user, its called the Creation Engine, we made it from scratch and it makes Fallout a better more immersive experience than ever.
Also buy Todd's Fallout 4 GOTY Edition with a 50% discount now!
the F4SE isn't even complete yet... and I still can't play as a Raider
It's great without mods you contrarian fags
>thinks "roleplaying" amounts to swinging swords and talking to retarded npcs that dont matter in towns that have 4 inhabitants
Yeah man, I too found this game boring as fuck.
Yea, if it's your first Fallout game and your playtime hasn't exceeded 20 hours.
Meant for
>Nah man, have a standard weapon with a legendary effect on it.
They did the same with the enemies. Why did they think Legendary Enemies were a good idea?
>Not a single pump action shotgun
>Not even in any of the DLCs
There was a grand total of maybe 3 weapons I liked in FO4.
Because they're the closest thing to a challenge the game puts up at higher levels. Or by that point on my playthroughs, my companion's problems.
Its kinda fun roleplaying as that one overpowered anime boss who has his right hand lackey do all of the attacking.
>Why did they think Legendary Enemies were a good idea?
I could understand legendary creatures like radscorpions or deathclaw. But irradiated legendary raiders is retarded
we want the borderlands audience
>walking somewhere
>aggro something
>roll your eyes because the combat is an awful chore
hey i enjoy the game because its fun
It's still a great game besides that.
the gunplay is ok, and the settlement building with mods can be fun
>go in stealth mode
>shoot raider in the head with your 11x damage silenced pistol
>wait 15 seconds so enemies stop looking for you
>repeat
I actually enjoy the story, although I much prefer the story and atmosphere of new Vegas. I'm currently on my first playthrough as a charisma and luck based character. I'm level 18 and I haven't even attempted to build a settlement yet
I got enjoyment out of it by cranking the difficulty up, playing a Charisma/Luck character with heavy emphasis on Charisma skills, avoiding traders and playing on a controller. Having enemies be an actual threat was nice but I still eventually outscaled them due to weapon upgrades.
>mfw i enjoyed 3 and NV and put hundreds of hours into both
>mfw I enjoyed 4 and put hundreds of hours into it
All three have their flaws, especially new vegas at launch on consoles, and the dialog options in 4 but meh i liked them all
