Doom

How is this game? Will it last longer than a day / any replayability?

>Will it last longer than a day / any replayability?
Not unless you care about chasing high scores.

Just play Brutal Doom and be done with it.

Took me 3 days to beat it while playing extensively each day, it's not the typical shooter, it takes more than 10 hours on average, and a lot more if you're trying to find all the upgrades. I replayed it on the PS4 immediately after I beat the game since it's that good.

It takes 14 switch charges to beat it

Care to elaborate what makes this game so good?

If you like the combat, you'll like the rest of the game because that's pretty much all there is.

Glory kills seem like a gimmick to me, does it play like the original doom games?

>not playing the packed multiplayer

Not at all.

Not that guy but it rewards moving costantly and having an offensive approach, the levels while linear are fairly large and hide lots of secrets, the guns are all fun to use and the lack of some modern staples (no sprinting, no reload, no covers) make for a unique experience

>brutal doom babs

Unlike most shooters where you take cover and regenerate health, the game makes you play aggressively and always be on the move, and you restore health by killing enemies and picking up health. Doom guy moves really fast so you can dodge enemy projectiles and melee attacks without needing cover. And obviously fighting a variety of demons with different attacks and patterns is more fun and thrilling than just fighting gunmen. The weapons are also a lot of fun and have a variety of different upgrades and mods. It's just a really fast paced and action filled game, it's a lot of fun and makes you feel badass.

I was very skeptical about Glory Kills going in, but they're actually a really great and smart feature.

It encourages you to get more aggressive to heal, rather than searching for medkits.

Of course you can always turn them off if you don't like them.

Yes it is, it plays a lot like the original doom, except now you can aim and there's glory kills to recover some health. Movement is still a large part of the gameplay just like the original game, and the weapons are very similar as well.

>I have autism and I must spurg

People are too quick to judge and think of it as some QTE shit that's only there for show, but it's not. It's really fast, and makes Doom guy just look like an efficient killer. It's a risk reward kind of thing. If you stagger an enemy from far you'll have to run all the way up to them, and certain weapons are better for setting up for glory kills, since doing too much damage will just kill them.

It's shit
>Will it last longer than a day
about 8 hours
>any replayability?
not really you can replay levels with all the upgrades but everything just plays out the same every time and it's extremely boring, snapmap could have been it's saving grace but the core gameplay is so fucked up it's not worth it.
>really great and smart feature.
completely fucked up the game's design and balance
and no you can't just turn them off

>playing team deathmatch
lol

Its on random team games

fair enough. team play mix is good. i always just back out when a bad mode wins the vote though

They're only similar in that you can move around and shoot guns.

I'm playing with a group of friends online can't lol

Name me 5 objective things that are wrong with Brutal Doom on Classic mode while playing Doom 1 or 2

You'll beat it once and then go back to Doom 2 modding.

Is the single player good? If just been multiplayer

Name me 5 objective things that are good about Brutal Doom on Classic mode while playing Doom 1 or 2.

>it plays a lot like the original doom
it plays nothing like the original
movement is not the same, there is no dodging, positioning or tactics in the new game just run around in circles
>weapons are very similar as well.
Wrong each weapon in the original is divided into damage tiers and functionality also gives them more variety each weapon serves a purpose same with the enemies, the new game completely ditches this concept for gimmicks that let you "play how YOU want to play", outside of the pistol and gauss (minus special meme weapons) they may as well all be generic rifle-gun.

>glory kills
When I played through this game I barely used glory kills at all past the first few levels. Just run up to everything with the super shotgun and they die.

>Better death animations
>More impactful, meatier sounds for weapons
>More choices for difficulty
>More detail in general
>Glory kills that aren't a gimmick needed to stay alive

Your turn

>>Glory kills that aren't a gimmick needed to stay alive
But that's a default feature of normal Doom.

He was comparing it to DOOM 4/2016 because that's what the thread started on
