How many 3DS series will make the AA jump to the Switch?
How many 3DS series will make the AA jump to the Switch?
probably uhhh etrian odyssey VI
I can't wait the disappointment that'll ensue when the Switch Pokemon title releases.
People are still going to eat it up.
monster hunter 5
Pokémon
Ace Attorney
Layton
Inazuma Eleven
Shin Megami Tensei
Senran Kagura
Fire Emblem
are already confirmed. I'm sure other series like Etrian Odyssey also will. Bravely too when a third one is made.
Given the popularity of the franchise and the need of big IPs on the switch, most owners of the console would get it
It's gonna sell more than 5M for sure
>"we dont care about graphix gameplay is kiiing!!!!"
>"I dont want to play 3ds anymore cuz graphix is a shiiiit"
all of them, its not like nintendo is going to come up with something new
Everyone, I can't wait for Metroid 5 to be announced and come to the Switch.
*Every one of them
>"I dont want to play 3ds anymore cuz graphix is a shiiiit"
Said who?
>Pokemon Switch revealed
>It's another Rumble title
Monster Hunter World is Monster Hunter 5, was developed as Monster Hunter 5 and you have to deal with it.
The only reason the name was changed to MHW was because newcomers would be more willing to enter the franchise with a name like MHW instead of MH5 because no one wants to have the 5th installment of a game to be the 1rst one they play.
>It's gonna sell more than 5M for sure
And that would be a failure.... Pokemon sells 15m on 3DS.
Said no one ever. 3ds' graphics were shit on release.
Doubt much would.
Most of those games work because they are cheap to develop and cost $40.
If they jump to Swtich dev cost get higher, the games would be sold at $60 and they would have to compete with AAA shit like RDR, GTA and every other single normiecore game.
>gee should I spend $60 on a Layton puzzle game or $60 on RDR2? What a hard choice.
I have some faith, user. The fact that Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon were cheaply similar to the originals makes me believe that they've been using their time to work on the Switch game.
Besides, GameFreak always works two titles in advance:
>worked on HGSS while also working on Pt
>worked on BW while also working on HGSS
>Worked on XY while also working on B2W2
But this has never happened yet.
You're assuming that an handheld franchise moved to Switch would have the same scope, graphics, budget as if it was on 3DS. That's retarded.
Pick one.
This is the dumbest fucking argument. Square has already stated they're aggressively pursuing midbudget titles for the platform like their former DS games and I'm sure all the other companies will follow suit. Just because the console is more powerful doesn't suddenly mean only AAA games are allowed to be sold on it and you need to sell at AAA prices.
Thats exactly my point, it would have higher budget, which is compensated by a higher selling price ($60 vs $40). But that would mean the franchise would be competing against AAA normiecore titles.
me. I love my 3ds, but I was very excited to see monhun back on a home console. sadly, the graphic updated was not as big as I expected, but being able to use better controls was a good enough improvement.
seriously, the 3ds would be a better system if they dropped the 3D gimmick, and instead called it DS:HD.
But Switch games are $60, thats the standard.
You will be getting midbudget for that price when you could get high budget AAA games for that price.
Why do you think it would need a higher budget? Do you think Octopath has a massively bigger budget than Bravely Default which was made by the exact same team in roughly the same amount of time?
You could make games that are exactly the same as their 3DS predecessors except rendered at a higher resolution and it would not drive the development costs up in the slightest.
>But Switch games are $60, thats the standard.
but that's not true.
>Most of those games work because they are cheap to develop and cost $40.
are you serious? the games would still be cheap to develop for the switch, and could be priced at 50/60. they're not about to use horizon and uncharted graphics for pokemon and etrian.
Literally the same model with different lighting.
Except barely any games on the console are selling for 60 bucks, only the big budget AAA titles. 40 seems to be the standard for non AAA games that get physical releases and most digital only games are even cheaper than that.
unironically left
You do know Microsoft and Sony sell AA games that don't cost $60 on their consoles right?
All of them
Would actually throw my monitor at a wall.
hopefully all. It's basically a home console/handheld device.
Would also make much more sense development wise and in 3rd party support.
Developers would only have to focus on making games for a single device, instead of cutting corners, optimizing handheld ports, and actually having to learn how to make decent games for a handheld system, with all it's limited capabilities.
I see more consoles going this route in the future. It's apparent for everyone, that this is the comfiest console ever made. Give it a couple years, and there will a something like a PS4/5-handheld VR hybrid as well
>still no chance for a rune factory 5
Why live?
PLEASE I would be so sad if the best new franchise from the last 2 generations is killed off/not replaced by same thing in all but name because we lose the 2nd screen
What with the 2ds/xl releases thats pretty much what they've done.
the 3ds is also 7 years old and is barely getting new games
The alternative to moving to the switch is moving to mobile or dying
>Give it a couple years, and there will a something like a PS4/5-handheld VR hybrid as well
Not gonna happen because Sony drank the high-end graphics kool-aid. They recently said they don't see the hybrid market being a viable one, despite Nintendo clearly proving them wrong.
Hopefully it continues the trend of SMT ports because I like them
Animated 2D sprites
Its gonna be sad, we are going to experience a jump from something in between a n64 and a gamecube in power (3ds) to a ps360 with almost 10 times more memory (switch), yet they are going to release the same game as always, but rendered in a higher resolution.
