I'm about the play this, any tips I should know before playing? it's my first SMT game

Basically just know you picked an Etrian game as your first SMT.

If you are stuck on a boss, fuse your demons to counter it, don't grind.

If you get hit with Macca beam, just reload your save.

Reload save until you get a STR based result from your personality quiz at the beginning.

Save the elemental rocks for bosses.

Have fun witn Etrian Odyssey, OP.

Don't waste time with Sukukaja/Accuracy/Evasion buffs.
Every other buff is perfectly fine to use however.

what demons have good fire attacks? I tried with Pyro Jack but he's too weak to fight ouroboros and I dont want to grind to get his source

i spammed war cry with two demons so that it would lose turns using dekunda and it's attack wouldn't do any damage.

sj isn't hard until the very end when it hits a bullshit difficulty spike.

Nocturne is also pretty boring play Digital Devil Saga instead

I agree, but that still makes it the hardest SMT since most of them are never hard at any point and are in fact easiest at the end once you have your elemental bullets, or broken demons, or OP stat spread+abilities on the MC, or -karn spam, or whatever super obvious OP thing that trivializes that specific title that everyone ends up figuring out. SMT being hard or tactical jrpgs has always been a dumb meme.
