I've got 15 bucks to blow and I feel /jp/ might be biased, but would the touhou game on steam be worth getting into for someone who's been aware of the series for years because of all the music, but never got around to playing?
I played Hisotensoku a few times with some anons, but that's about it.

No, just download the free old games.

The older games are basically abandonware and are fully translated, so try before you buy.
I'd recommend starting with 6 (Scarlet Devil) or 7 (Perfect Cherry Blossom).

Play Touhou 8, it's objectively the best. 16 isn't that good in my opinion, I think the only reason it has so many positive reviews is because it's the first Touhou game to appear on steam

No, it's the worst windows game

no you should play touhou 6 first, and if you dont like that you wont like any of the others

i played 6 and got hooked on the rest of the games.

Enough of a consensus for me. Thanks dudes.

Not OP,
Which are the best games that can be played in English? I see 6 and 8 mentioned a lot, any others?

They're all translated, dude.
Personally I suggest 7, it's the most elegant starting point.
EoSD is very rough, and IN can be overwhelming.

Make sure to take notes and decide which 2hu you would fug.

>EoSD is very rough

pussy

>have 1CC'd IN as every character on hard and a few characters on lunatic
>can't 1CC PCB on easy
I dunno man. Am I just retarded? Everyone says PCB is one of the easiest games and it's taking me the longest to beat.

OP again, I liked that oni one.

Download 6, 7 and 8 and play them in any order you want. You might get frustrated if you focus in just 1 game, even if you like them, and you can always switch to another one of these if you get tired of losing too much to a specific little shit

I don't mean difficulty.
EoSD is rough in design.

I think when they say PCB is easy they mean it's lunatic mode is easier than other lunatic modes. Imperishable Night is probably the easiest easy and normal mode, especially for beginners due to spell practice and last spells

Just play them all, they're all more or less the same quality after 6 which kind of looks dated.
9 and 11 are probably my favorites.

I agree Kasen is great

Fuck, did I say 9? I meant 8.
9 is terrible and is probably the only one worth skipping.

The fuck are you implying?

Fuck you

She's hiding the goods under those buns I'm telling you

Why are these two so perfect?

Who the fuck makes all those fashionable clothes if they're trapped in monster infested late feudal japan? Shit mang just look at those white boots, /fa/ as fuck

Apparently, Rinnosuke makes all of Reimu's clothes. Might make Marisa's clothes too.

The fact that this is what Kourin thinks of when he hears "Shrine Maiden" worries me.

What?

That's true honestly. If all the other touhou games had been released on steam before 16 it would be filled with unfairly negative reviews instead of unfairly positive reviews. Touhou fans are like that.

Because they're not trapped, forgotten stuff pops out of the outside world and into gensokyo constantly, and gensokyo was sealed off in 1885, not in the mud eating middle ages.
