Why are Steam sales so underwhelming now?

Why are Steam sales so underwhelming now?

no daily deal hype

They're been progressively more jewy as time goes on

The discounts are much lower, the games themselves don't really lower in base price anymore, the sales typically don't have any daily specials, and steam has been crammed full of awful dogshit games so lots of the games that go on sale are garbage that you wouldn't buy at any price anyway

I liked it when they did the little things like the coal thing but they don't have the exciting daily deals anymore because people would ask for refunds because they bought a game then it goes down $20 the next day

Blame the faggots on holiday sale 2011 who abused the system for coal.
After that steam sales became pure no fun allowed.

refund fags

All this and the sales are so common its not a big "event" anymore, plus GreenMan and HumbleStore will usually have stuff at the same price. Hell, Total Warhammer 2 isnt even part of the sale yet but I got it for 30% off on pre-order from a legit key seller, probably 2018 before it will drop to the price I payed for it yet I have over 100 hours in it.

The prices are not unique for the sales anymore, just the same discounted price you will see over the year, whether on of the bi-weekly sales or tied to a "free weekend" type situation.

Steam isnt the only player in the game now, and this shows by the not bothering making the daily specials to entice people each day...people will just show up as its their default way to access PC games now.

should i pull the trigger?

>should i pull the trigger?

If you are planning to play GG you have to buy the 30 bucks bundle for a upgrade. Otherwise you will not find anybody to play with

>falling for this bullshit new lie

I've got some snake oil to sell you. Steam sales had been consistently worse over a period of years before refunds ever existed. You were merely fed some anti consumer rhetoric, which you were all too happy to shove down your throat like your dad's cock

Ask the publishers, they're the ones setting sale prices.

As for why they don't do any fun events, blame the fucking cunts that would bot and account spam every little event where Valve dared to give out anything.

shut the fuck up, redditor

Because publisher can't pick them anymore and valve force a fixed %

Is Mankind Divided worth $10?

Is the DLC shit?

This is coming from someone who grew up with the original Deus Ex and found the reboot to be mildly entertaining

the coal mines were hell

You're retarded my man

They have been going downhill but they're still at their nadir after refundfags

If you liked HR, you'll probably like MD. Just keep in mind that the plot abruptly ends when it starts to pick up. Haven't touched the DLC, though.

Many companies don't drop their prices below 10-15 euros. They have probably done the math and seen that the increase in copies sold don't justify the decrease in profit per copy. A couple of years ago we were probably in the experimentation phase where companies gathered data. Sadly it probably won't come back. With the prices in the sale today and the frequency of sales there are hardly any reason to buy a ton of games just to put them in your backlog.

because you already own most of the games you want

This. The fuck do I do now

in the average year, there are more steam sales than good games released. so they start feeling worse and worse over time

Masturbate and shitpost.

play the games you have

Nah

Refunds are a thing now, so daily deals and the like no longer work, without that front page press there is no incentive for companies to do anything more than 50% off, the only games you'll see on higher percentage discounts are old games that want to hard sell to people who otherwise wouldn't be customers.

play the games

Because the industry isn't make the kind of games that i want.

>They play games
You're on the wrong board faggots.

...

I need to keep this under 20.

Also any other hidden cheap gems? Open for anything interesting.

Removed the minigames. Removed daily sales. Removed flash sales. Removed the interactivity. Removed fun.
Claiming that dailies and flash sales were removed because of refunds is idiotic.

>people STILL bitching about no more lightning deals

YOU ALL WANTED REFUNDS

YOU GOT WHAT YOU WANTED

This is the kind of fag that is helping corporations ruin games with his brainwashed soyboy thinking

Because in an ironic twist of fate, the steam shop has become such a cesspool of mediocrity and asset flipping that by comparison, it’s still better than what PSN (which i use) and Microsoft, let alone the origins and uplays of the world but Nintendo probably has the best shop to go with the Switch. That’s how fucking low steam has sunk in terms of being once able to balance curated quality games, even if it meant that the shop wasn’t as accessible for devs

We went from club Too rich for my blood, to hey there’s a balance, to basically becoming a dumping ground for assholes and oppurtnunsits alike to make money off you Pc brats and you’re aversion to quality control.

It's worth $10, and what's there is pretty fun, but like that other guy said, the plot just suddenly comes to a halt. I still got 54 hours out of it before beating it, because I like squeezing all of the exploration out of the game that I can, and still didn't get find everything or get all of the achievements. The development time of the shitty Breach arcade mode should have gone into expanding the campaign; you can give it a try, but it's not really worth anyone's time. I can't speak for the DLC.

Found the soyboy

Okay refund then

Did I fucking say refunds were bad, it's just a factual side effect of the system faggot.

So wait whats this soyboy shit, consuming a lot of soy products make you whiny or somethig?

every time i see a game i want its like at least 15-20 bucks

used to be it would be like 1-5 bucks

How the fuck is it? All you have to do is to lock refunds until the end of the sale and the problem is gone.

Any thoughts of Deserts of Kharak?

I can get it for $11

I miss when I could get a bunch of older big titles for £5

something about estrogen and commies stealing our precious bodily fluids

The prices suck

I always use New Vegas as an example for Steam jewery. The ultimate edition was on sale in 2013 and 2014 for $4.99 every big sale, and now 3-4 years later it's always $9.99.

That's not legal in enough countries to be a headache, also the stats on sales show no real decrease in purchases before and after they got bad, the average consumer doesn't care about it being worse, they just see "sale" and open their wallets.

normies
they'll buy it anyway, they don't know the sales of olde

Because you've already gotten all the shit you want. Back in the early days you were grabbing classics that you never had the chance to play for pennies, or newer games at a slightly discounted price, but as more and more sales happen you begin to run out of games that you have a strong desire to play, and in most situations the newer games that are only ten or so dollars of just aren't as appealing.

It's a joke insult based on the joke theory that soy products turn you into a low testosterone faggot.

I hope it's a joke anyway.

>New Vegas

I will never not be mad about downgrading my yurobucks to RUS

Because you generally at this point already own all the hidden gems.

My steam link has like 300 games. So when new stuff comes out that I want I usually just buy it day 1.

It's memes. There's nothing to "get."

never fear, the x-mas sales are a month away

Oh boy, I can't wait to browse through the exact same games with the same discounts since there's nothing special about individual sales now.

Nobody seems to be revealing the obvious answer.

You own all the games you'd want to buy in the first place. A person's best Steam sale is always their first.

You have to look elsewhere for good sales these days. Humble monthly bundles are occasionally worth it (XCOM 2), Bundle Stars/Fanatical usually has good seasonal sales, and Greenmangaming has good discounts on newer games sometimes.

No flash sales to add artificial "excitement" only retards fall for. Steam sales now are better than ever.

In what sense?
