FAQ >Do I need to play previous games? No, Xenoblade 2 is standalone. It is however closer to XB1, so more story oriented than XBX. You are free to play them in case you want to catch any reference or easter egg, but both games are really long (70h+ for the first playthrough) so you might get burnt out by the time XB2 is released. >Dual audio? Day one dlc. Not before that, so you are stuck with english dub if you got an early copy >Can I change the Rex's outfit? Not confirmed for any character. >What the hell are rare blades? Weapons in the form of characters you obtain from "lootboxes" (it's all in game RNG, no microtransaction bullshit). Consensus among the reviewers is that the game literally throw you toncrap of crystal cores. No confirmation if you can have rare blade dupes though. >Can I transfer blades? Yes, but it require overdrive material, which is said to be rare. Be careful when you decide to open a crystal core with a certain character. >How long is the game? Most reviewers stated they spent like 30-40hours just for the first 4 chapters and they don't think they even reached half of the game, so expect a game at least as long as the previous 2 games. >Is the music as good as the first game? Have a listen for yourself: youtube.com/watch?v=C7Z9fIbLf_c >What's in the special edition box? See the unboxing video (Canadian French) youtube.com/watch?v=6ltyIBNMJJM
The wait is literally killing me. Not sure if I want to grab the digital japanese version to not have to deal with shitty localization or physical english for physical pride. Might end up doing both. Get it digital now and physical when it's on sale. I really hated the meme translation of XBCX and poor translation of XBC1.
Anthony Phillips
If I get the localized physical English version, can I play with japanese VA? Also, if I get the japanese digital version, can I play with english subs?
Alexander Davis
>can I play with japanese VA? Yes but there are a few issues you should be aware of, such as name changes.
>Also, if I get the japanese digital version, can I play with english subs? No.
Lucas Nelson
I'm considering doing the same. Even if it is NoE instead of treelulz or 8-4, the slight script changes in XB1 were big enough to change the characters to a certain degree, even though the dub was pretty good.
That said, XBX tought me the hard way that Japanese technobabble is really annoying to read, and sub quests are unlikely to be voiced, so it will be painful to go through XB2 in full JP for me.
Ryan James
Do we know how many titans there are? I'm concerned there's only the ones we've been shown. There were over 20 different areas in XC1.
Ayden Ward
Is there any indication of the final resolution yet?
Carson Jackson
Read the OP: yes, Japanese voice track is included, but only when the game is released. Script won't change, so expect name changes not reflecting what the character say onscreen.
Also no, the game is the same as FE warriors: JP and western versions are different because how they were handled, so the Japanese version doesn't have neither the english text or voices.
Juan Wright
Every material presented up to this point depicted her as nothing but a generic big titted nice girl. People also have an obnoxious tendency to attribute "the character has a great personality" with their boner. This has happened before with FE14 and Automata. "Judge a book by its cover" would make sense if the only thing shown was the design. It's unfortunately not the case.

Landon Scott
Handheld is "fuzzy" with notably diluted settings. Docked has been estimated at around 1080p by a couple of YouTube previews, but take that with a pinch of salt.
Jayden Ross
>There were over 20 different areas in XC1. But only 2 titans. There's probably multiple areas in the 8 XC2 titans we've seen too, along some other areas like some ships, mini titans, world tree, elysium, maybe something under the cloud sea. The beginning of the game is an ancient ship, not even a titan.
Brayden Brown
If the screenshots and videos on Nintendo.jp are anything to go by it's not good. Looks a little under BotW, and considering they are probably showing the docked version, I'm honestly a little worried for the handheld mode. Thankfully the Switch has a relatively small screen so it should hide a lot of the resolution issues.
Jeremiah Peterson
Most media points at 720p but I dunno
Matthew Hill
It is actually the opposite though: most reviewers are normies and admitted Pyra is a good character despite the design. If anything, the trailers barely show anything relevant regarding her personality aside of her first contact with Rex and few tidbits.
Just imagine XB1 back then if they used the same kind of trailers: people would think Fiora is a plain damsel in distress if they just put snippets of her with Shulk without the scenes where shit hits the fan.
James Bennett
There's literally zero chance the areas we've seen are the only ones so I wouldn't be worried

>Most media points at 720p but I dunno
The switch outputs 720p for the game, this is already known from the twitter screen shots. What I want to know is what resolution does it render at. After counting pixels I'm 100% sure the game is rendered under 720p. The artifacts and aliasing on the edges of the screenshots can't be accounted for by image compression alone. It doesn't look as bad a 520p blown up to 720p so I assume it's somewhere in the 600p range. 1024x600 blown up to 1280 x 720 would look about right for what the screen shots look.
Jacob Wilson
Wouldn't be that for the handheld mode, and dock mode is something around 900p like other games? A lot of reviewers mention 1080 which is unlikely to mistake from 720p.
Jace Thomas
Any one have that clip saved when Rex and co meet with Morag? I really liked Rex's voice acting there.
Asher Foster
Could be. But it seems odd that Nintendo would be using images just from handheld mode when its a lower resolution. Why wouldn't they use docked which should always look better?
Ryan Lee
Nobody really knows yet. The guy above is assuming shit based on compressed twitter screenshots.
Nolan Ross
Chugga claimed it was around 1080p after looking through his footage and running a pixel count iirc.
I'm betting 900p with a dynamic resolution.
Samuel Robinson
>tfw only getting a Switch around Christmas O-only one month left
James Cook
The screenshots I am taking are from Nintendo JP's twitter feed and they are 1280x720. I don't think I have seen a single 1080p image for XBC2. I think 720p is docked, because there is no sense in using lower resolution images as a showcase for the game. If the game renders at sub 720p in docked mode I don't even want to know what it renders at in handheld.
Carter Perry
On the bright side, you'll have three system seller tier games to play

I hope you don't mind spoilers, bro. I have hard time imagining avoiding all spoilers for a full month considering the community hype without quarantining myself from internet.

I was thinking the same thing but the screen shots of the menu and inventory and Hana's modification menu are all at 720p and they all look like they are rendered at 720p.
Ian Wright
They appear to be taken with the Switch screenshot button, which gives 720p screenshots.
However, video footage has also pointed to 720p.
Noah Ortiz
I already have BotW on Wii U.
I don't actually. I got spoiled on too many games to care that much anymore. I still enjoy the games that I've spoiled for myself.
Lincoln Green
720p compressed screenshots at that. My BotW screenshots are all strangely squashed even when taken docked. Hope they patch it.
Mason Gomez
>They appear to be taken with the Switch screenshot button, which gives 720p screenshots. I agree, not only that the compression is very bad which leads to think maybe the screenshot function uses really bad compression so I took a few of my zelda screen shots to compare and the compression artifacts are much worse for the XBC2 SS than my BotW screenshots leading me to think maybe they re-compressed the image in some way or the rendered image was sub 720p. One thing is for sure the game looks markedly worse than BotW if screenshots are anything to go by.
Jayden Collins

Still extremely on the fence about blowing $380 on a game where both of the main characters make me snore. The trailer with them being all lovey dovey is just more insult to injury. The music was fucking good though and if previewers weren't memeing about the gameplay, that as well. And SMT5 isn't happening until 20XX.
Nicholas King
Takahashi isn't known for being subtle when it comes to romance, but if Shulk/Fiora/Melia and Reyn/Sharla is anything to go by, Rex and Pyra probably won't be a plain couple.
Angel White
So here is a little mash of images to show how shitty the compression is. The sharp looking ones are from

Hana and Poppi both refer to flowers. It makes more sense than Fiora to Fiorung.
Also you didn't comment on the others.
Nicholas Stewart
A flower is a flower.
Dominic Edwards
So you're admitting that Green Face to Jade Face was a stupid and meaningless change, yet despite that, the game itself was still fine?
