nothing went wrong, but nothing went right.

I miss it so much

Long load times, and hard drive space.
Also not enough mainstream support. They could reboot a similar service on PS5 and it would be successful, if they integrate it into the main menu, with zero load times and planned events and giveaways.

>tfw you could have a comfy home on ff13 eden
youtu.be/Fo5-F8HUFFs

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH

did it ever go out of beta?

>Microtransactions

>yfw you spent money on PS Home

no real ingame currency you needed real money for everything
lack of interactions
long load times
took up asstonnes of harddrive space
bad graphics
typing with a controller
no voice chats
frequently crashed

i doubt it would work out since it would be an always online thing.
and you should know by now that shit like that generally doesnt work.

I still thought home was a neat idea though. just wish shit was implemented better.
i dont think it was a huge failure though. thousands of people actually used it from day to day because of that chat features.

I don't even give a fuck how terrible it was, PS Home was a fucking hilarious experience and I doubt there can be anything like it again.

>glitching into hidden places in the graveyard level
>going up to two people "flirting" and standing/dancing between them and making them legit angry
>seeing actual autists and children intermingle with total douchebags
>basically miiverse but an mmo

...bring it back bros

>what went wrong

Very poor support from Sony, and very poorly managed. If Sony had thrown a decent developer team behind it, it could have been great. Even though it was shitty it was still pretty relaxing to hang out in. You could easily end up pouring a lot of hours into it doing fuck all. Basically a lot of wasted potential.

it was the epitome of a game with the comfiest locales though

It dosent mean It has to be online only.

You could still have a menu, but an optional virtual social hub integrated.

>comfy underwater house for your waifu

>second life lite

I'm just not sure the idea was even that good. There was not much to do, the loading times were terrible, all the somewhat cool stuff costed money that you'd rather spend on actual games anyway. I already have a friend list and if I want to play with my friends I send them a message. There are more convenient ways to get in touch with them than Home, and when I play with strangers there's always a way to find randoms in-game. Home served little purpose, it was poorly supported, you felt like they were trying to trick money out of you, and it just wasn't fun and convenient to use as software.

I think this thing bombed the moment it started.
It was an interesting concept but just another bandwagon on the Mii craze, like Xbox tried to do.

I miss bullying people on this with my friend

I spent so much on clothes. Granzella had the best stuff

No

More games should have had furniture as an achievement reward, I remember I had a giant White Knight statue from doing something in White Knight Chronicles.

If it was a virtual hub to show off all of your neat memorabilia from achievements I think it would've been better

>had to wait in line for activities
I remember I never got to play the Siren Blood Curse minigame because the line was too long

Its like second life but has no Yiffing in it.
Whats the point?

*freezes you*

>sports stadium on the outskirts of the city right next to a cliff
who designed this city?

thats actually smart. why would you have it in the middle of the city where it would cause a shit ton of traffic?

> glitches ontop an object then proceeds to dance

They actually had voice chat. When it initially launched it was a free for all and people would just idle blasting music so then they made it invite only (party based) but was still in the game

and open chat in private spaces

I like that idea, actually. Though would devs really like creating stuff for Home?

Remember that theater mode that Netflix had on the 360 where a bunch of people's avatars sat in front of a screen to watch a movie? I miss that.

>used to play Playstation Home for hours on end in elementary school

I'm 18 now and I miss it everyday.

AHHHHH

it takes like 3 hours for a ps3 game to install no way was i gonna install ps home

Same.
Bought the ratchet and clank house

what does one have to do with the other?

both take a long ass time to install?

Home? It was pretty quick to install. Just took a long fucking time to boot up. Not 3 hours, though. Like 10 minutes.

its stupid how they added trophy's only to shut the server after a few months and some of them you had to pay to unlock like having a certain amount of premium outfits in your wardrobe

Most people don't have enough free time to fuck around in it and play video games.

>premium outfits
No, I think there might have been one for obtaining a certain amount of outfits, but they could be earned through in-game rewards. None of the trophies you had to pay for.

Fuck me, this

>tfw vrchat is almost everything PS Home ever wanted to be

You could glitch inside the game area and fuck with the players. I would try to find ways to distract them so the enemies would kill them.

Console owners are known to have attention spans that are on the short end of the spectrum. While the load times weren't unusually long for an online based game the fact there was no immediate action following loading added to the perception of long load times.

A large percentage of ps3 players were far too young to remember or appreciate chat rooms, which is basically all home was.

The development team didn't care enough about the project. Many technical issues that never got sorted out. Many proposed features that were never worked into it.

Third party was largely absent for most of its life. Not until ps3 was reaching end of life did third party devs really put out interesting content.

Sony never bothered to clarify important information. Literally 9 out if 10 people had no idea any USB keyboard worked on the ps3.

Currently there is NEBULA REALMS which very much is a reincarnation of home, including a remake of the studio apartment. It's still not home but it's free and it's a walk in the past

>NEBULA REALMS
fucking hell, they somehow managed to make avatars even uglier than playstation home

It didnt release at the launch of the PS3 or anywhere close to it. By the time it did come out years later it was completely forgotten.
Had it released at the beginning of the PS3 life cycle it probably would have been huge.

I miss fucking around with my Bomberman suit.

Oh shit I did

It's pretty much inferior to home in every way possible. Nostalgia though.
>and hamsters

>it's just a bunch of fat fucks pretending to be anime girls.

This seemed so ahead of its time actually.
I loved calling everybody niggers back when I had no games for ps3

is this a hamster for ants

...

>play chess with random people at one of these public spots
i really do miss it

It was ahead of its time. I remember most people at that time were still uncomfortable with micro transactions. I suspect that a why home suffered from a serious lack of content for much if it's early life

VR wasn't a thing yet.

Yep. $15 or so total.

...

>If it was a virtual hub to show off all of your neat memorabilia from achievements I think it would've been better
This. You should've been able to furnish your home using furniture / decorations unlocked via achievements. Then again, this would negate the pay for furni scheme Sony would prefer, but if I understand correctly, Playstation Home was very successful for them and turned over a large profit, not because of the virtual furni people buy, but the ad space they offered to companies.

I'm a massive trophy whore so I would've gone full autist decorating my home with furni unlocked via trophies. Give us more freedom, go full Sims, give us the ability to build our homes, maybe certain number of platinums (10+) unlock an actual house rather than an apartment. Would be cool if you could place defeated bosses into your home as an NPC to roam around / stand guard.

I liked playing hold em there

Is there any current console versions of something like Home.
I remember being bored I would just chill in PS Home and wander around.
Even if there isn't a current Home, is there a PC substitute instead of Second Life?

Lurk Moar

>nebula realms already mentioned

Too many pedophiles grooming kids with in game purchases.

I read the first posts and skipped the rest to ask my question.
Thanks though, I did go back and reread.

That pic.

Tfw they said trophy displays
Tfw there was never trophy displays

That's why lurk moar

Be wanred, the community in nebula realms is far more elitist than home when it comes to being a default avi noob

Elitist in a f2p Home simulator?
LOL I gotta check this out.

It's pretty much the stereotypical noob hate, but it's more widespread than is was in home.

Product placement. Too much focus on advertising with no real compelling content.

Nothing, it was really fun.
Wish it stuck around.

>>used to play Playstation Home for hours on end in elementary school
Underaged B&...oh

When are they gonna bring this back for PS4 with PSVR support?

Walk simulator with 5$ ugly furnitures taking 5 hours to load
