Playing both of them, I think I prefer Cold Steel. They're both good though.

If you're asking which one you should buy on sale:

Tales:

>Complete story in one game, for the most part

Trails:

If you're looking for a franchise, trilogy, Cold Steel. Honestly I'd recommend Trails in the Sky first unless you really can't deal with its slight-datedness.

Cold Steel is better but both are great.

Is the main character of Berseria as edgy as she seems from the trailer. It was almost comical

She's very angry for good reason, but she's actual perfect wife material once she cools off. She does take a while to open up, though.

Trails of Cold Steel is to Tales of Berseria what Tales of Berseria is to Tales of Zestiria.

Berseria is much better.

90% of the time isn't just boring fetch/kill quest that plagues Cold Steel. Cold Steel literally goes nowhere in the game. I'm at 70 hours and now I have to do some stupid shrine kill monster quest.

At least Berseria has tons of things to break up the monotomy. And the characters in Berseria play off of each other much better. Cold Steel is only with Rean. They don't banter with the others too mcuh. ONly a line here and there. IN Berseria it's all over the place and feels like an actual party.

You would be too if your brother in law killed your little brother, cut of your hand and locked you in a fucking dark hole for a long ass time. Plus when you get out your brother-in-law is also worshiped world-wide as pretty much Jesus.

It's okay because she's cute.

Pity the Tales dungeons designs are still fucking awful and that alone puts me off.

Any Trails are better than post-Baba Tales.

instead of treating it as a chore, treat it as 9 whole game expierences. dont play a game soley just becauses its a prerequisite to the newer games.

Berseria's not bad as long as you avoid actually playing as Velvet. Her gameplay basically boils down to button mashing.
