Easy to download and go. Both players have to be using the same version of the game that's being netplayed so having a "standard" is easiest.
It's even easier to do vanilla was my point. I've played a good amount of melee here but never heard anyone ask for 20xx.
Last time I checked, you don't just download a 20xx iso. You have to make it yourself using a melee I so, granted it's been to a one click process but you it's a mod which requires the base game.
Also using 20xx on netplay friendlies with strangers is silly. You forgot to mention you need an adapter to plug the GameCube controller in

Well you also said "controller of choice" so if you're implying that melee is even remotely playable with anything but a GameCube controller you are retarded.
You also need to change your USB drivers with zadig to utilize dolphins native input mapping too

It's pretty playable with 360, spacies are mad easier.
No you can use 360, steam controller, Gamecube, whatever you want. A friend of mine plays with a steam controller.

ggs Falco player, I dunno how people move on netplay it feels like I just get stuck and can't do shit or tech anything.
ggs man. You are just feeling overwhelmed because you are getting combo'd. Focus on DI and mixup your techs. Also work on your neutral game. You'll get used to the delay I guess.
Nah I get comboed enough. I just can't into Yoshi neutral game zip-zoppin' around platforms when I can't move around properly. Very frustrating since if you're not movin' and groovin' you might as well just run off the edge. Also free lasers because forget about powershielding that shit online kek
Makes me wanna go back to Street Fighter where I can just press back and forth.
