Is HD rumble just a meme?

without a doubt
Not too many games use it well, some do.
youtube.com
Yes because most developers don't even use it.
But desu the rumble is better than the rotary rumble in other controllers and can even make sounds.
it's not even a meme. it's pretty good but it's just vibration.
next gen all consoles will have it for sure.
How else would the Japanese EA be able to jew you out of more money without lying?
If it means taking off half of the price of these things, then hell yeah it is. 90$ for a pro controller is ridiculous.
No since it can be used to the same effect as haptic feedback on the Steam Controller for stuff like gyro aiming. Motion controls are instantly improved with physical feedback.
your mom's pussy can make sounds too
Yes 100%. The new Senran Kagura promised to make HD rumble feel like tits and it's just generic rumble
It's not a meme, but it's not a game changing feature or anything amazing
It's surprising how nice the subtle vibrations feel when playing Odyssey, but it's just a small cool thing, and I guarantee you I could live without it if it meant saying money on controllers
>promised to make HD rumble feel like tits
no rumble in the world will ever manage to achieve that. holy fuck, permavirgin manchildren are already falling for the ruse.
It's literally the same shit as in the steam controller except with a fancy name. Just some tiny linear rumble motors. But yeah, it is a good feature.
Well then they shouldn't make such claims in their advertising
Steam Controller has HD Rumble (fancier rumble thats more versatile) and Haptic Feedback (particular parts of the machine (like trackpads) having a light rumble independent of the rest of the machine), it's two different things but Nintendo is using HD Rumble to ape Haptic feedback to decent effect.
How is this any different than Xbox One's impulse trigger vibration from 2013?
I dont know what that is so I can't say.
The steamcon is the same style of linear motors as the switch, literally just one under each trackpad. It's not that different to being one in each hand.
I just want them to do stuff like how the steamcon handles turbo buttons where you can fear a click each time the virtual button fires, it feels so good.
the xbox rumble applies to the triggers while the joycons rumble applies to the whole controller.
either way, both shits are just marketing memes like how Microsoft was all about "CLOUD PROCESSED GAMING" and Sony was all about "THE POWER OF THE CELL"
HD Rumbles not a deal breaker to have or not but it's certainly nice
>Playing DOOM on my Steam Controller
>The shooting vibration changes when I'm running low on ammo
IIRC Splatoon 2 had something similar
Epic internet WIN!!!
Every steam controller input has haptic besides I think the backpaddles. The sticks, trackpads, and triggers are the main attractions but the face buttons and bumpers have them too
No, it's the same 2 motors doing all of those. You just can't feel the difference when it's done right.
Well fuck. It feels so centralized on my stick and the triggers when I turn it on
It's literally just because they fire in such direct response that your brain corrects for it.
That's why they could do very similar things with the joycon.
when I go to the find controller thing that lets you make the joycons rumble one of them is noticably louder than the other, although it sounds more like something is loose on that one than it being explicitly stronger
should I be worried about this at all? how can I tell what the rumble should be like on each one?
Lmao gottemmm
>JapEA
That'd honest to god be PlayStation.
Well, Microsoft does pretty well with that. Titanfall 1's servers were hosted by MS's Azure program.
If you can hear a small buzzing sound apart from the rumble sound, it shouldn't be doing that.
It's actually not bad but at the same time if I had the option for a switch that was 20$ cheaper with no hd rumble I'd take it in a second.
I was really excited for HD rumble, but yeah, it's not anything special. I've noticed a few instances here and there of it being kind of neat, but usually it's either too subtle or too loud and jarring. Yet to really hit that sweet spot, you know?
And the generic rumble is awful. I hate how whiny it sounds. It sucks because I really thought this would be a huge game changer.
It's actually really great, but not an essential feature. The games that use it we'll use it to provide feedback, like in Splatoon it lets you know how close things are, or how hard your hitting the enemy.
I can on both of them, but it's far more noticable on the left one
am I fucked then
You use steam controller on switch?
You can send it for repairs.
