He's a complete loner with nigh on zero social skills and basically no form of connection with any people beyond "hey, it's that guy". He's hasn't exactly gotten away Scott free mentally speaking, he's just seen it so much that it's not shocking anymore and nothing particularly bad has happened to him in that hour for over 5 years beyond not being able to use headphones. Anyone would be fine with puddles of blood and green hues after that long, it's not too hard to believe. Also, MC didn't suddenly just wake up one night.
