People have been saying it's the best AC game for years, you're late to the party.

The tailing missions almost ruin it.

I really wish it had nothing to do with the AC series.

is Unity any good?

all of the actual ass creed elements weigh it down like a 6 ton anchor

Should have just let it be the Windwaker HD remaster it wanted to be

YEAH, IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE WATCH_DOGS SERIES.

>not hacking the enemy rudder or sails

Fuck those missions and shanties

I installed a CFW on my PS3 and I'm living the dream alone while shitters are in other parties

This and origins are actually pretty good to be fair.

Assassin's Creed is cinematic trash, and even the spectacle is spoiled by the horrible writing. It's an insult to history.

It sucks though, it only seems good by comparison because 3 was so fucking bad.

Do you know better games in comparison? Same genre

Assassin's Creed 1 through Brotherhood.

Syndicate was good as well.

FUcking this. Why didn't they just drop the asscreed cancer and make a full on new pirate IP.
I stopped caring about the story after they introduced the AYY LMAO in 2 or brotherhood, I can't remember.

I'd say it is. I played it to completion on Xbox One in the middle of 2015. I don't recall running into any issues other than a few matchmaking troubles for the co-op missions. Unity's reputation was blemished because of its buggy launch but the game has long improved since then. I really liked Unity. Arno wasn't an interesting character and was basically an Ezio knock-off, but I liked the changes to the combat to make it a little more challenging compared to the previous games where you can just easily counter and chainkill large groups of enemies. And Unity finally added the ability to crouch when you sneak around, which was long overdue in a "stealth" series. It also let you approach assassination targets in a variety of ways. I still think Unity is one of the more impressive looking games on console too. If you can get a cheap copy of Unity for around $5 it's an easy recommendation.

IV and Rogue > Unity > Syndicate > III > I > Ezio trilogy
Haven't played Origins yet.

>Why didn't they just drop the asscreed cancer and make a full on new pirate IP.
They did.

>That ranking

Sailing and islands in Ass Creed IV was god tier

>multiplayer pvp twitch streamer garbage
Yeah, no.

it's mediocre

How can anyone actually think this?
>Get near island
>Stop boat, jump off
>Swim for 20 seconds to the island
>Open a chest for some shitty reward
>Swim for 30 seconds back to the boat because it drifts away if you stop it too close to the shore
>Repeat 200 times
All of the seafaring content in 4 is only entertaining for a few hours after which it becomes endless tedium and grind that builds up to a tiny amount of actual fun again when you fight the boss boats around the world.

The Ezio games don't handle very well anymore. They feel so dated. The franchise became annualized with II, and the annualization of Assassin's Creed was one of the worst things to happen to the franchise. I liked the Ezio trilogy back when I played it in 2009-2011, but I don't look back on it fondly.

I THOUGHT I HEARD THE OLD MAN SAY

It's a good AC game but AC games aren't really good.

>The Ezio games don't handle very well anymore.
I for one miss having high profile movement separated from jumping movement. Brotherhood combining it was the worst decision the series ever made in regards to control, but 2 still controls wonderfully, as does 1.
>The franchise became annualized with II, and the annualization of Assassin's Creed was one of the worst things to happen to the franchise.
Do you even read what you write? How did the annual releases fuck it up when they were annual since the second game? Never mind that Ezio's games were all far better than the absolute shit pile that was 3, which was developed over several years by the team that made 2 while a separate team pumped out Brotherhood and Revelations.
>I liked the Ezio trilogy back when I played it in 2009-2011, but I don't look back on it fondly.
I certainly look back on it a lot more fondly than 3 or 4, and that you actually ranked 3 higher than anything at all only tells me you don't have even the slightest taste.

It's just comfy, but I agree with you. Endless repetition and shitty rewards. I liked killing fauna in fabulous ways tho.

I could write a god damn book about how this game is objectively the best entry into the series. At the very least it was the freshest. It's only flaw was the heavy reliance on tailing missions, but every other aspect was just such a god damn surprise.
I remember getting home from school the day it came out, and pulling up a walkthrough of the opening mission. I always watch walkthroughs of games I don't have any intention of buying or playing, but I'm curious about the story. I was expecting to skip this after AC3 was underwhelming and the advertising didn't sell me on it.
But I watched through the introduction, shut it off, walked to EB Games and traded all the other games in for it, and binged it for the next two days. Years later when I got my Xbox One, it came with Black Flag again, and I played it through again, and when I get it on PC, I'm gonna play it through a third time, it is just that fucking good, and I don't think the series will ever top it.

Can you rec me better similar games?

ending is fucking trash and grinding naval shit is tiring

fuck you the ending is great

The story is trash in general. I remember them hyping up Edward as being a cool new likeable protagonist after everyone hated Connor, and then Edward just ends up being a stubborn, arrogant retard who spends the entire game refusing to listen to anyone and fucking everything up. So basically being Connor all over again.

youtu.be/QpSp5gYb3yE?t=566
> He thinks this art is trash

literally the only ass creed I enjoyed

LEAVE HER JOHNNY, LEAVE HER

I dropped this game instantly the moment i understood you didn't play a characters but you played a boat

literally pointless plus it's another ubisoft shovelware they'll give up after 1 year of forced supports
i expected a Blackwake: but better or that other cartoon pirate game with great graphics but nooo they had to make it a boat control simulators only

SAAAAALLY BROWN SHE'S THE GAL FOR ME BOYS

>watch AC Origins footage
>the running animation looks awful, the character looks like he's skating
lmao ubisoft

Yeah I LOVE the tailing and eavesdrop missions that are recycled over and over. DON'T forget the ship stronge hold fights that play out the same way each time. Or the stealth assassination missions that are just run to one bush to the next! EPIC GAME and not clearly the most boring and repetitive one since AC1!

I was really hoping the story was going to be the assassins and templars going after each other and Kenway fucking it up for everyone because he's greedy. I didn't want him to join any faction just inadvertently cause major upheavals because he wanted some loot, like attacks and siezes a templar convoy and they have one of those alien doohickeys and he throws it the fuck overboard because it looks worthless.

Honestly the gameplay is the best in the series.

I'd be 100% ok if they made Black Flag its own IP and distanced itself from AC

It doesn't get any better than cruising the seas with an aryan pirate and his african sidekick hunting for booty

The whole time during the E3 preview I kept getting For Honor vibes. That shit will be dead in less than a year.

This

Just like real life british pirates

It's pretty good now. It's a meme with the glitches and shit but it's been fixed up, and honestly looks fantastic to boot.

anyone else enjoying Origins?

Excepted that For Honor is an actually good game

...

How many new things you can add in an open world wanna be game?

I hate the ass creed series even though I liked the first one despite it´s flaws.

Before I drop the dosh. How is origins storywise?

Unity is great. Most people give it shit because of MUH story and the broken release.

Unity fixed so much that was wrong about AC after AC2. It got rid of the counter klls. Replacing a with a parry that just knocks the enemies back instead of giving a free easy kill. They got rid of the kill streaks making so you don't got a get out of free jail card if alerted. And made the enemies more aggressive so they won't just wait to be killed. But also gave you more to do in battle so it wasn't just "press x to win" You can push/trip enemies. Go for down stabs for falling enemies and charge attacks. It also finally gave you actual stealth mechanics and let you build the assassin based on your play style. Which is cool but a little unforgiving at the beginning. France is amazing looking with fantastic and atmospheric locations. And in my opinion the best thing about Unity is how France is designed from a gameplay perspective. There is a level of depth in how you traverse. You can enter buildings through many ways. From above, underground, through hidden areas or just through the front door. I love that and wish other open world stealth games had that level of depth.(talking about fucking mgsv) Last but not least the stealth missions are amazing and the best in the series. It gives you complete freedom in how you approach. There are no bushes to hide in or paths guiding the player. It's all up to you and really makes you feel like a true assassin. Which is something only AC1 did before. The game is not perfect though and still runs hard for some. Also getting use to the freerunning mechanics take a bit of time because pass AC had one button do everything. But once you get use to it and the weightvof your character it feels good. It a great but flawed game. The story is boring and the characters forgetable(not bad tho) but the world and gameplay mechanics are good and throughout the play through there are some crazy ass shit that are really cool.

ROLL, BOYS, ROLL BOYS ROLL!

The two things I had the hardest time with (other than the bugs) in Unity was the drastic change in gunplay from Black Flag and the fact that everyone in France during the Revolution had a fucking british accent. I see the reasoning behind the gunplay change although I did miss being able to drop into the middle of a group and waste everybody. The voices though...how the fuck are you going to make a big effort and waive your dicks around about historical accuracy and then pull that shit. Fucked my immersion up.

DOWN TO TRINIDAD TO SEE SALLY BROWN BOYS

WAY HIGH, MISS SALLY BROWN!

You'd think they'd have french accents at the very least

Yeah its really weird seeing as how Ubisoft is French too

LOWLANDS

no it wasnt

OP, here. What other AC games should I play and what games should I avoid? Syndicate? Rogue? Unity? I'm confused

>3 and 1 above ezio trilogy
Of the ones I've played
IV > II > Brotherhood > Origins > Revelations >>> I > III > Syndicate

The fuck is wrong with the graphics?

WE ARE OUTWARD BOUND FOR KINGSTON TOWN

high tier opinion

Yeah, they're awesome pirate games...

As someone playing Asscreed 4 gokaiger for the first time currently I have to say this user is right. 2 saga is the best of assassins creed.

>Ubi Montreal still THIS salty a game developed piecemeal by Chinese code farmers is the most beloved of the franchise
The absolute state

WITH A HEAVE-HO HAUL

AND WE'LL HEAVE THE OLD WHEEL ROUND AND ROUND

What do we tell to the drunken sailor?

You can change the voices to french if like. I think they wanted to do a AC1 thing where the animus affected the voices for the user. Like how Altair had an american accent. Or maybe they thought french accents sound to silly certain situations and would be better just to give the player an dub option.

>best AC game
>all the good parts are not AC related
>all the typical AC parts are boring and shit

Exactly

Worst in the series

>using sync points makes your spread collectibles in your map like a nasty STD, some of which you cant even get because they are locked behind a certain skill which leave us
>Hey guise lets put a fucking skill tree because everyone else is doing it! It doesnt matter it fucking halts the pace of the game to a fucking crawl and you need to invest points in shit like be able to fucking sit on benches and to go incognito!
>Unless you are playing on PC the game is a shitshow of variable framerate often dipping to 20 FPS
>Protagonist is a cabron copy of Ezio from AC 2.

GOOD MORNING LADIES ALL

>that flying chair at 0:29

If you speedrun the unbearable main missions the game finally lets you have fun. The main missions are ALMOST as bad as AC3.

But once that shit's out of the way and you can just do what you want, it's extremely fun. This was the only AC game I 100%ed in order to get the ghost crew. Finding all the shanties early is also worth it just to hear them while sailing around.

It's a shame you can't refight the legendary ships though. Once you 100% the game it really is true to the term "100%". There's nothing left to do but just sail around terrorizing ships with your ghost ship, which is fun in its own right.

What I liked about it was that ultimately he has to choose a side. The whole point is that once you find out about the assassins and Templars, you can't remain neutral. Edward tries to play both sides without committing, and he pisses off everybody. He pisses off the Assassins when he kills the team who wants the sage. He pisses off the Templars when he fakes being Walpole. He pisses off the pirates when he spends more time chasing after the observatory than raping and pillaging.

I'd say that Edward has the best character arc in the series, and that's a big part of why Black Flag is one of the best games in the series.
