I bought this from a Black Friday sale and holy shit the buyer's remorse is real.

The map design is garbage. 80% of the map is open field with virtually no clutter on it. Terrain features like ditches and contours are really fucking bad by today's standards (on the rare occasion that they actually exist), it's basically on par with the original Operation Flashpoint if not worse. There's extremely little cover anywhere, so operating tactically, like in DayZ or the Arma2/3 Battle Royale mods is right out of the window. In Chernarus and Altis even the most open areas had hedgerows, stone walls and other clutter you could use for cover, as well as the actual terrain geometry being more varied.

Everyone gets infinite sprint that makes you move at like 30 mph, and bunnyhopping is more effective than in actual ADD arcade shooters. Even fucking Fortnite has a mechanic where your character's legs get tired if you bunnyhop constantly, but for some reason this piece of Korean shovelware garbage doesn't. The sprinting, zigzagging, and bunnyhopping turn the game into a retarded rambofest. Tactical movement and planning go out the window because it's way more effective to just sprint around like a brainless retard and zig-zag behind the closest tree (of which there aren't many) in case someone shoots at you.

Absolute fucking garbage that's worse than the Arma3 mod in almost every way. The only things it has an edge on are the interface and control scheme being more adapted to this kind of gameplay. How this shit got so popular is beyond me. Fortnite is objectively the better game.

this is actual criticism. i agree, i noticed immediately the lack of a stamina feature, which is why you have assclowns like shroud running and gunning like it's fucking cs:go. there is no punishment for haste or failure to plan a route of escape, like you said, you can simply strafe like a retard and expect to survive most hard contact, whereas in arma if you've been sprinting then you're shit out of luck if you aim to hit anything beyond cqb range.

on top of that, there was also the issue in arma where the grass textures didn't show up at farther ranges if you turned your graphics down, but the character model was still hidden, or partially concealed at least, if you were prone and someone was looking for you in an open field from 100 yards away. in PUBG you stick out like a sore thumb, and actual concealment can only come into play with the use of bushes, and still pretty bad at that.

i wish they had kept some of the more hardcore elements of arma. the encumbrance system could have been implemented alongside the stamina system, allowing players who prefer to travel light a distinct movement speed and endurance advantage over people who feel they need a rifle, sniper, sidearm, pan, several grenades, a full combat loadout of ammo and enough meds to cure africa of aids. they missed an opportunity with that sort of thing.

I have 250 hours into the game but I don't get it either. Like, 200+ hours is average to me and most players before getting bored of a multiplayer game, I think. I'm down to just playing it one day a week when my cousin and I have a day off from work the same day. Hundreds of thousands of players I get, but millions seems retarded. Given that you make money from crates, I can almost guarantee a good chunk of those are just idlers. Even in NA, the first 10-20 dead in a game were idlers, it's probably like half in Asia servers.

Never underestimate genre desperation. Countless horror fans wade through bad story after bad story because there simply aren't that many great tales of horror. Likewise, there are fans of horror games, RTS, and the so called "Hunger games" battle royale -- people whom have been asking for something in an under-serviced genre, and they're always on the hunt for the next attempt.

So why not shovel garbage down their throats and make some money, right? No, the point I'm getting at is that genre fans will cut designers and storytellers a lot of slack, so don't pay too much heed to expectations and that is what PUBG takes advantage of (other than absurd loot drop rates). It is increasingly unpolished, no context whatsoever, and and is only as fun if you have taken the time to memorize the best parts of the map to run to. But it does not matter, it is more "hunger games" than the official tie-in adventure game and people want to play it because nothing else does the same thing.

It's a pretty fun idea/concept, I just don't think it's executed that well. They used the same stiff, clunky mechanics DayZ uses for some reason. I just don't like the way it feels, or looks really. The graphics are incredibly bland and look like something that belongs on the PS3. It's a fun game for like 30 hours, but I lost interest pretty quick and only play if friends invite me to play with them.

The only good part of the game is selling boxes for steambucks. Even with infinite stamina, moving around feels like shit, vaulting should've been since day 1, but I guess it kinda will be because this piece of shit is still in early access and they're rich for it.
Fortnite was kinda shit too, but at least the movement was smooth and you picked items/opened doors without any lag, not like pubg, which always go laggy the first seconds of the game a.k.a., the time when some retard will pick the weapon before you and kill you without being able to do anything.
