My summer car

There aren't any. Get out their and rev up that training montage.

Mafia II and Deadly Premonition

>licence class: D

how about you go and train some more instead of playing fucking videogames

Why do so many people fail their driving test on their first attempt? I passed mine on my first attempt.

I hope you're not American

Practice driving dickhead

I passed mine because the dude who examined me apparently didn't want to do his job so he just made me drive around the block and call it a day

I've heard it's piss easy in America but in my country it honestly depends on the instructor. If he's in a bad mood, then he will always find an excuse to fail you

Dirt Rally

i've been told they have a quota they have to meet daily. they have to fail so many people per day. it's honestly best to schedule as early as possible.

It's easy in America because unless you live in NY your destination is going to be at least 50 miles away.

Where in NY did you take this?
I took mine in fucking red hook Brooklyn and got a perfect score you absolute pleb

American here, I failed my first one because he took me on a type of intersection I have never seen before. Had a turning light that I didn't notice because all the turning lights in my area turn red and switch to green, but in this area they turned off when they were unavailable so I got confused.
Felt pretty dumb about it.

None. Driving tests have nothing to do with racing.

Though it is 2017... The DMV really should have some sort of free virtual training program by now, even if they have to resort to reddit graphics.

Was there anything you did right?
Go play GTA 5 and follow the traffic rules.

initial d arcade stage

...

I had to change the driving school because my instructor was an old choleric asshole with a hair trigger. Completely sucked out the fun in driving for me.

This. Also take your test in an unpopulated area.

I live in California and I took my test in Oakland. The proctor fucking tricked me into making a right on a no-right-on-red turn (which I still performed safely) and continued the test even though I aced every other part of it.

He said I was a very good driver but couldn't pass me due to this violation. What a fucking shithead.

I failed my first try because I didn't look over my shoulder when pulling off the curb onto a completely deserted side street

>Failed first driving test because instructor thought hand over hand is too dangerous
>Did hand over hand for the next one and he passed me

Games aren't going to make you a better driver, you need to practice in a real vehicle.

It seems like most people either fail because they flat up cannot drive, or their instructor just fucks with them.

I failed my first driving test because my examiner didn't like how loose his seatbelt was. I failed my second test because the examiner thought it was nervous due to how i had such a tight grip on the wheel.

>Speed 10
>Turning 10
>Observing 10
Are those numbers scores or the amount of mistakes you made in that area?

>unable to park properly
>poor judgement approaching intersections

Fucking off yourself you retard.

In what country do you live that they hand a driving test receipt?

The DMV is really just a place for shitty people to take their failures out on society.

Pirate the second one, and stop being a suker.

This is the only acceptable answer.
GTAV is probably the best city driving simulator out there. The whole city follows a pretty accurate algortihm for driving rules. Pedestrians and cars all follow the rules to a certain extent. And you have miles and miles of road and intersections to practice on.

>Tfw passed on my 4th try

All my friends passed on the first or second try. It made me feel really bad. I haven't told them I failed 3 times.

>Pick up speed gradually by pressing gas a few times in a row like teacher told me was safest
>First instructor told me that was bad and took off points, said it was unsafe on ice even though it was early october
>Second instructor said he appreciates it and that it is an effective way of speeding up
They should really homogenize this.

Any Initial D game

America NY

I fucked up majorly on my test like forgetting to signal and hitting the curb.
I looked so pissed off i think they let me pass

>pressing gas a few times in a row

Who the fuck gave your instructor his license... that's the most ridiculous thing I've heard.

I think mistakes, as the bottom claims getting more than 30 is bad.

>Take driving test
>Get a receipt

I apparently did perfectly on my test but when returning to the DMV I "drove too quickly in the parking lot" which apparently means going at 20km/s instead of 15km/s and that was an instant fail

Not flooring it, just gradually tap it. He got real mad at me if I didn't.
I have kinda lost the habit over time though,

Don't worry user, it took me two tries to get my drivers license. First time the instructor said I wasn't looking both ways when the intersection turned green, I didn't turn my wheels to the curb when I parked uphill and downhill, and I wasn't shoulder-checking, even though the car I borrowed had those blind spot mini mirrors that stick to the side mirrors. I don't understand the scoring system there though. How do you turn badly? Did you cover two lanes? Were you going too slow/fast when turning? Signalling should be a no-brainer as well. On my second test the instructor told me I signalled too early when I turned left on streets without a turning lane. I told her that's so people behind could switch lanes ahead of time and pass, and she dropped it. What did your test guy mean by poor steering control? That shits worth 15 points.

Gran Turismo 6 or Asetto Corsa. The latter is on Steam too, I think.

>keep seeing these threads
>test is in 2 days

Failed the computer test with 1 point below average. One question in particular fucked me over when it asked "a vehicle like the one in the top-down picture passed by speeding, what do you tell the cop to identify it?" It had a truck bed, and truck was an option so I thought that would make the most sense when describing it to a cop. Turns out the answer is automobile, which I thought was five different leagues of retarded.

And the driving portion I failed because I made a clear turn without seeing the red light with must've changed at the last second. 2nd try I got it done.

I failed my first time because I started the car before putting on my seat belt, didn't put it in drive before tho which honestly I'm still slightly salty that they failed me for that.

>20km/s

No wonder you failed you were going mach 2.

Same happened to me.
But I haven't been pulled over or had an accident in the 10 years i've been driving so I had to have learned something.

5 times here

And didnt get mine until I was 19
To be fair When I was 16 I lived with my abusive mother who screamed at me and hit me while we were practice driving if I made the smallest mistake

It's not that hard. Speaking from my and friend's experiences, most people fail due to the instant fail mistakes rather than simple ones like bad turning. The only time I had an instant fail one is when the instructor tried to fool me. Be on your toes.

I failed my permit test 5 times.
Don't even feel bad about fucking up one driving test.

What kind of retarded marking system is that?

Only know one person who failed:
>gets in the car, does all the checks
>wants to start driving
>doesn't work
>she starts gassing and revving it up
>keeps doing this
>THEN realises she didn't disengage the hand brake

Do you americans have an instructor you drive with for some amount of hours before going on the test?

>20km/s

I laughed.
Do they use Wipeout vehicles for driving tests now?

Fuck lmao you're right, it's 4am I mean km/h

>Failed first time because my instructor fooled me by taking me down a road, asking me to K turn and then telling me I wasn't supposed to K turn on a road like that
>Second was because I forgot a single piece of paperwork
It was the same dmv, same guy too. Think he would have remembered I had it last time. It wasn't even something important it was just the slip saying I did driving school.

Yeah, the parking lot where I took my test has a bunch of T-intersections and and keep clear zones stacked together specifically to sucker people into doing something that's an instant fail.

...

Aren't American driving test piss easy?

>failing test on automatic gearbox

Literally impossible, americans are retarded.

the idea of driving something so fat scares me, seem way to easy to scratch past some shit or have a mini crash.too used to riding a motorbike i guess and being a quarter the size of the road space
its not like ill ever have friends or women that requires a car to transport anyway

I charmed my female instructor. I know I made a couple of silly mistakes, but talking and making jokes with her put her in a good mood.

I dunno, just going off of context clues.
The one in my area is if you make 3 or more small mistakes you fail, or if you make 1 big mistake you fail.

what the fuck. they give you an actual score now? i remember that shit just used to be pass/fail

I went 22mph in a 20mph. it was downhill and I was still braking so it's not like I was being reckless. She was just being anal. next week I didn't take any chances.

No. You just schedule a test whenever and do it. They don't care what your previous experience is.

depends on where you take it but usually yes

>tfw still can't reliably take off on manual without the car stopping
forever a brainlet

How do you learn to drive then?

>completely fucked up my parallel park
>even go into the incoming traffic lane at one point
>still pass

Thanks I guess

Yes, you have to accumulate a set number of hours before taking a road test.

Seconding Don't worry about it too much, user. Also, remember you can always ask for clarification - if your instructor tells you to do something and you're not sure exactly what they said, or if it's unclear (like 'turn right at the lights' when you have two intersections ahead of you) you can always ask them to repeat it. It's always better to ask for clarification than to do something that might be unsafe.

You CAN do driving school and practice, but it is not required. You are expected to do it on your own time.
For example my sister practiced for almost a full year, while practiced for a month or two.

Parents. Or you pay for classes. Up to you.

>Some amount of hours

God no; I really doubt anyone wants to spend more than 10 minutes with a new driver each and every day of work. They do a small test once the driver's ready to go by driving around the location in the public roads in a circle for a small bit, tell them what turns to make, then back to the location. Then they say whether you're good or not. At least that's how it is in Memphis. Pre-test practice is on the driver to do themselves.

I passed my test using a manual transmission
American btw
Prefer it over automatic

user...
Assuming you start in neutral
>press on the clutch (most left pedal)
>until you hear the engine (you'll recognise the sound after a while) and see the nose of the car pull up
>slowly let the clutch pedal come up
>press down slowly on the gas pedal (most right)
Voila, and you're off.

When I was 15 I drove for almost a year without a permit until I got pulled in a checkpoint and they had to call my mom, my mom had to pay a $500 Fine and I was banned from driving until I was 18.
Years later I was almost fined for driving with an expired license that expired just the day before.
If under 18 you have to do "x amount of hours" for a learner permit before you can get a driving license and you need an adult with a valid driver's license with you.
It depends on State laws mostly how many hours.

I failed twice, I had the same instructor both times and he was a complete chode who literally made up reasons to fail me. 3rd time I got someone else and aced it

>get my drivers license
>never drive anywhere

i haven’t driven a car in 4 years

Honestly OP you just need to practice more

I failed my first time and was absolutely crushed, but I passed on my second attempt a week later after hours of practice

no you didnt
americans are too retarded to drive manual

Took me three times to get mine.

Failed twice on parallel parking, third time didn't have it.

I fucked that one up. You also need to put it in first gear or you're going nowhere.

because people arrive at the test not knowing how to drive
waiting to get a license to go out and practice drive will result in you not having enough practice to get the license that allows you to legally do just that

How is that a fail? It doesn't present any danger to road users, pedestrians, or the driver. I've seen people do that all the time.

Parking doesn't really matter unless you actually hit something or look like you're going to, which is more about the fact that you can't judge when you're doing something that's unsafe. Once you have your licence if you can't park somewhere you can just park somewhere else.

If you're in the US you have no excuse.
If you live in Europe then driving exams are such a cunt most instructors don't even bother teaching you how to properly drive, they just teach you how to get by the exam.

None is better than the other if you ask me tho. Fucking cancer is what it is.

I passed mine with only one mistake which was not using a turn signal when turning to park. That shit is fucking brain dead easy and it's all common sense

>How is that a fail? It doesn't present any danger to road users, pedestrians, or the driver. I've seen people do that all the time.
You're not demonstrating full understanding of the vehicle you are using.

>driving manual vehicle
>fully stop at an incline
>car pulls up too close behind me
>Have to rev like a mad cunt at start or I'll possibly roll into them

If you can't see my back tires then you're too fucking close. I'm posting this because I know a lot of you are young and getting licenses and probably not learning from the best examples.

20 km/s is pretty fucking fast for a parking lot, man.

Which is funny, because parking lots are private property and traffic laws don't actually apply. It's entirely down to courtesy, unless it's owned by the government.

>completely fuck up reverse parking
>still pass

Probably cause that's the only mistake I made. To this day I still never reverse park fuck that shit

I took my whole driving test with the hand break pulled. Still passed.

Yeah, but it still gives absolutely no advantage, except maybe extra wear because revs go up and down even if it's a little bit.

>most instructors don't even bother teaching you how to properly drive, they just teach you how to get by the exam.
Are they really that difficult?

>How is that a fail?
Not knowing your car. In my area they ask you to switch on both signals, high beams, wipers, and barking brake before starting and auto fail you if you mess it up.
