will bitcoin mining overnight and while im not playing my games have any effect on my 1080s performance when i do use it to game?

I dont want to ruin my card but it would be nice to recoup part of the cost of the rig since electricity is free here.

No

You can't play and mine at the same time
because it throttles your PC so much.

Also mining these days with one pc isn't worth it

I mean mine in the off time while Im not playing

Why the fuck are you mining bitcoin with a GPU nowadays? Even with free power it's been a long time since you could get anything out of it.

>Why the fuck are you mining bitcoin with a GPU nowadays?
Are you implying a cpu would be better?
>it's been a long time since you could get anything out of it.
There are alternate coins with lower difficulties.

On another note, assume I have free electricity, is it worth it to get some ASIC miners and pay them off in the span of a year?

The OP specifically said bitcoin and since when did I say anything about a CPU? Only ASICs are viable for bitcoin.

quick and easy mining guide anywhere?

I've been mining with my gpu for a while on and off and it's still fine after a couple hundred hours or so. Keep the fan speed a bit higher than usual and you should be fine. Also, actually know what the fuck you're doing before you start this, first and foremost not attempt to mine bitcoin with a GPU. Mine something like ETH or Monero.

discord shilling I know, but went here when I first started out. Lots of people who will help you start out with mining.

Is ETH even good to mine still? I did a little but at the start of the year, mined a few coins. Thank God I swapped into BTC when I did. ETH is going no where.

doesn't help that $300 million worth of ETH just up and vanished

almost at 500$ now, seems to be doing well

mining bitcoin is impossible with a GPU now, AISC miners have taken over that industry

If you're going to mine on a gaming PC you'd better have a spare 1 TB HDD (at least) lying around for the bitcore.

Would installing an invisible gpu miner in a game at 25% usage while playing and 10% while user is afk be acceptable?

No

What about 10%?

I just mean in general no.

Oh well it's not currently picked up by virustotal when i upload so I am interested if I should do this.

Oh you mean using other people's computers.
Then yes, use 10%

whats the point?

You could have invested $500 real money and turned it in $12K and then bought a whole new fucking gaming PC

It will reduce the lifespan of your fan but the actual silicon should be fine.
