You forgot Gen 5 put the Pokemart and the Pokemon Center into one, single goddamn building and thereby saved the entire franchise.

Gen 4 will always be the absolute best thing to happen to the game as a whole. Completely changed movesets for a ton of Pokemon and brought some Pokemon from the brink of nonexistence. Got Silver on the 3DS VC recently and it's been pretty fucking lame remembering how shitty some types are. The entire Ghastly line is almost useless with no STAB attacks to match their higher stats.

5 also combined the mart and centre
6 also added horde battles and Amie/Refresh
7 also removed HMs and by extension HM slaves

How about Gyarados? You remember that Pokemon with the really high attack stat and nothing to use it on because all water moves scale from Sp.A? Was anyone really hurt by the Special split?

It's baffling how ghost and dark-type moves dealt the opposite type of damage their respective pokemon had until Gen 4.

What you see in USUM is her true self.
In SM it shows that she only became like this after an accident with a wormhole where the beast bit her, since she was obsessed with finding her husband who had been lost to one.
In USUM no such accident happened yet she still was obsessed with the wormholes and finding him, which she did. Best scene in the game desu.

At least Gengar still did quite well for itself before the Physical/Special split.

Why can't I skip cutscenes and dialogue in Ultra Sun&Moon? They did almost nothing to make it less annoying than the first game so why not just let people skip it?

I thought Totem Pokemon and Lusamine Jellyfish Monster with a souped up team were cool additions to the series. I wish there were more weird encounters in the game.

I know people shit on Lillie for being waifubait but SM was seriously only carried by her. It was honestly an interesting take on the formula basically having her be the main character and you just being an accessory to the story. Of course USUM just throws all this shit out the fucking window and makes a really convoluted story that tries to be the typical post-Gen 3 story of "Save the world from literally Satan, the Pokemon" while also trying to include all the plot points from SM while also creating an entirely new plot about a civilization from a different dimension and on top of all this shit continuing to force Lillie on you despite her no longer being the main focus of the story.

Even though not being able to skip cutscenes suck Sun Moon had some good twists on the formula. Totem Pokemon are basically true boss Pokemon that really exist to fuck with you. Like Totem Togedemaru was basically designed to fuck with you because not only can you not poison it because of its Steel typing but it can also summon Skarmory to give it a Tailwind, Torment you, and set Spikes. And if you kill the Skarmory then it'll summon Dedenne which can ruin your attack stat if you don't kill it fast. All the while Togedemaru can just keep attack you and even put up Spiky Shield just in case you decide to throw a Z move at it. Just to mess with you.

There's a couple other devious combinations like Totem Salazzle summoning Salandits that can Toxic you, which not only puts you on a time limit but lets Salazzle get bonus damage off of Venoshocks. There's Totem Lurantis that can summon Pokemon to give it Sunny Day which not only lets it get one turn Solar Blades but also gives it boosted heals with Synthesis. It's all so much better and more devious than gym battles who are basically glorified trainer NPCs.

So why would they fuck it up by making the trainer NPCs so terrible? Is there a single one that has more than 3 Pokemon?

Oh and Sun/ Moon got rid of HMs which already makes travelling around so much better. If DexNav was in this game it would be hands down the best way to walk around the Pokemon world.

Lillie doesn't need to carry around underwear. She lives with the Professor and she can Ride Pager wherever she needs to go even if she gets lost half the time.

Except that it wasn't interesting at all and being forced to deal with Lillie's mummy issues was obnoxious when I didn't give a fuck about her.
Here's a better idea: Make it about the player character's shitty mother instead. Hell, that'd explain why the protags in S&M constantly have that blank slasher smile on their faces.

I think lick was the only actual ghost type attack for a while besides night shade which is different.

Gengar was one of the most popular Pokemon back in the day. No one ran any Ghost moves on it because all Ghost moves scaled on Attack and Gengar's base attack was 65. Versus its Special Attack which was 130. So instead you ran Thunderbolt, put it to sleep with Hypnosis, trapped with Destiny Bond, and/or put some other special attacking coverage move on you short of blowing yourself up with Explosion.

It wiped my whole fucking team. First time I ever lost in the single-player. I won on the second try, but had to sacrifice a Focus Sash I found earlier just to put it to sleep. Bring a Dark type.

Night Shade always does fixed damage depending on level so it wasn't counted in terms of Ghost STAB.

Fucking this. Every trainer I fight has fucking nothing. Even the kahuna guy only had three. Sure his Z move nuked 75% of my HP on ONE one my pokemon but he was nothing. I did not have to try in any way because I outnumber him. My HP pool by default means I will win even outside of type advantage OHKOing.

That's the other thing about this game I'm not liking at all. All it is is rock paper scissors. Who ever type advantages first auto wins. There are all these moves like baby doll eyes and shit that make the game look like it has combat depth when in reality the only thing that maters is using the move they are weak to.

Why would I use a move like copycat when I could instead just one shot them? Why sit there and boost my stats when I could instead just one shot them?

This is true for certain shitmon's in Gen 1-3 like Sneasel and Sharpedo but this is NOT true when talking about Gengar. Gengar didn't give a fuck about having no STAB when it had some of the best coverage in the game combined with god tier stats, typing and in Gen 3 a god tier ability. The fucker was pretty much an A-tier character for 6 generations.

I was taking note of this. Before the elite four there are literally only two trainers that have more than three pokemon, and one is the obligatory 6 low level trashmon joke battle.

I really hope you're new to Pokemon or are just talking about in-game because that's one of the most pleb opinions to have about these games. Pokemon is legit one of the most complex games out there if you actually play against competent people.

Because in online matches your level will be scaled to 50 or 100 anyways. Also SE moves don't always one hit. An Ice Shard from a level 1 Swinub isn't going to fucking 1 shot a level 100 Garchomp. More realistically a Landorus-Therian isn't going to 1-shot a Toxapex with Earthquake despite Toxapex being weak to Earthquake and Landorus-Therian also getting STAB from Earthquake. There's a lot of shit to factor in when actually determining what the most optimal play is in a Pokemon battle. Not only that but you have to memorize what over 200 moves do, what over 200 abilities do and the general stat spreads of over 800 Pokemon if you want to have any chance of winning against a competent player.

Pokemon is just advanced RPS and build knowledge.
There really is no real skill needed. It's all meta. Outside the game. I mean, I like it. It's fun. But, it's not all that complex.

Super Training was absolutely a gimmick. It had almost zero new functionality and was existed completely separate from the rest of the game

Fairy type isnt a gimmick per se, but it is a lazy, poorly thought out fix to long standing balance problems

Open up the progression and flatten damage values a little so you're not totally fucked if you're facing multiple mons 20 levels higher
Axe HMs and make their properties implicit to certain pokemon. (i.e. if you have a Pokemon like Lapras it can always carry you across water), scale their efficiency to encourage use of certain pokemon (i.e. Sandslash and Drilbur have a very fast dig compared to say, Furret)

Biking back and forth literally takes 5 minutes AT MOST to hatch an egg with Flame Body/Magma Armor. What you're suggesting is make egg hatching take an absurdly long amount of time just to make it seem "realistic".

Gen 7 tells you exactly what patch of grass everything spawns in for the most part.

No. You're wrong. Super training was great, because it allowed you to EV train your pokemon relatively quick and simple. You could see their EVs and there was never any confusion about what you had to do.
EV training in previous games was a fucking nightmare. You HAD to look up shit online. See what pokemon gave which amount of EVs when defeated and very carefully count it all manually. It took forever.
It was a goddamn godsend.
