Starting out Xenoblade Chronicles X and getting caught up with my backlog.
What are some good pointers starting this out or things to think about ahead of time?

Don't expect something similar to the first Xenoblade. It's a very different game.
Game is very obtuse in teaching you its systems. If you're confused about something just look it up or ask someone.
Main story is kind of weak, don't expect too much. The bulk of "story" comes from sidequesting and slowly getting to grips with the city and its characters (like settling on a new planet if you will)
You don't get a mech for a while. Get used to exploring on foot (most find it more fun to explore on foot anyway once the novelty of the mech wears off)
Remove most of the HUD shit to get rid of clutter. The first six story chapters are essentially tutorials so try to do those first, as the sixth one unlocks your final attack. Don't ignore your probe placement because you'll need the money/resources later on. The quest board calls up random quests every time you click on it so feel free to browse. You're stuck with two (technically three) of the most annoying-ass party members for the main story but everyone gets some pretty neat missions of their own.
Also I hope you fucking love wifebeater shirts because that'll be your reward 80% of the time.
Out of the 3 field skills you get, prioritize the tech one. You need to get as many probes as you can place ASAP. You can also visit the northern area right away but it's slow as shit pre-mech and so not recommended.
It took me forever to figure out what I was doing but you can get by pretty well by being completely clueless so if you are ever confused just soldier on.
Get the mech with bunny ears and the big ass sword, the sword is stupid strong and makes the game easy cake
Thanks anons. What are probes and why ASAP?
That's a long ways away.
Don't just assume that leveling up and equipping stronger armor is all it takes to cheese through the game. That might fly with the main campaign but believe me, enemies that appear off the beaten path can still fuck you up big time even at max level. Focus on getting a decent augment build as well as utilizing auras.
Later on you'll gain the ability to go into Overdrive which can give your character a huge attack strength multiplier. Mastering it can make most enemies in the game, including the final boss seem trivial.
Is there any way to have Audio come from the tablet only. Wanted to play with headphones, but still play on the TV. That made BotW fun
Mute your TV and switch the screen display on your gamepad, you can always switch back to the map if needed.
Explore the world completely BEFORE you get the mech. Much better experience that way
Hope you like grinding. Them mech repairs ain't cheap and if you manage to blow up a few it's probably better to just savescum it.
As long as its not korean poop sock, I'm fine.
As soon as you can explore all of the map and install as much data probes as your low level will allow, even in areas where normal mobs will one shot you.
It will help later when questing and stuff.
The mining metagame is essential to progression don’t overlook it early on.
Is cemu sound problem fixed yet?
Also when attacking switch weapons constantly between ranged and melee to build up power. They cool down even if you switch so you can always be attacking.
Upgrade your Arts
Upgrade and assign your Skills
Don't forget to change class every time you reach level 10 in a class
When you change class you might need to reassign your skills
If you fully complete a class tree (Full Metal Jaguar, etc.), you can now equip that class's weapons (and thus arts) while leveling up any other classes
Your Potential stat dictates how many HP you heal from Soul Voices and how much damage you deal with TP arts, it's a very important stat
READ THE MANUAL
OP here, Says I'm a Rank 7 Drifter, so once that is rank 10 then change?
Yep.
Roughly how far into the game do you get the mech?
Max out the dual machine gun class first. The Dodge skill (ghost Walker I think it was called?) is the best defensive skill in the game.
IIRC after Chapter 6, so about 30 hours in if you're doing sidequests.
Decoy is such an overpowered buff, what the fuck were Monolith thinking?
are you referring to the volume issue? Theres a fix in the description of this video
youtu.be
Just replace the sound file with the one you download from here
The game doesn't do a good job of telling you this, but when you max out a class, you can use that class' weapons with any class going forward. It let's you mix and match the ranged and melee skills of two unrelated classes.
Is there a way to uncensor the game?
MAX OUT MECHANICAL FIELD SKILL FIRST
Further to that, there's a sidequest chain that you have to do to get the licence.
Get to chapter 6, then another 10 hours.
More things OP, I'm also just staring out, 30 hours in and starting chapter 5.
Get you mechanical skill up to level 3 ASAP, then biological and archaelogical to 2, then mechanical up to 5.
You can see your Blade rank exp when you press start/+, there is no notification the let's you know when you level up.
You can use BP to upgrade skills (passive buffs) like HP+10% -> HP+15% etc. I just found this out.
Dump you Miranium into fetch quests ASAP, if there are no Miranium fetch quest, dump it in to Weapons Manufacturers before you hit the Miranium cap as it can easily cap every income trigger. Install a storage probe every time you cap out to avoid wasted Miranium.
There's an early sidequest with Lin that has no direction marker but is a materials fetch quest, it's kinda bullshit so worth looking up a guide for that one, or just agree with Tastu to get dinner instead/slightly less exp from the quest.
2 things:
- KILL THE BABY PIGS
- DON'T LET HER TAKE A SHOWER
there's should be a couple more but i forgot which wire to cut
How well does it run in cemu these days?
Blue = true
Red = dead
At what point does the DLC become available?
The DLC is a bunch of additional party members, pretty sure they become available really early on, when the rest of the non-DLC party members start being available as well
Fun fact: The ability to use fashion slots was also part of the DLC in Japan.
I have the 1st guy and 3rd guy unlocked, were they originally DLC in Japan?
Yeah, everyone in that pic is DLC, which is why they Affinity missions and Heart-to-Hearts don't actually count toward overall NLA survey rate.
RIP Squad Chat
>LOL EAT TATSU
>LOL SHULK REALLY FEELING IT
>MORE STALE MEMES!
And nothing of value was lost
nope. as far as i know, nobody has done any sort of text/translation patches for the japanese version for cemu or hacked wii u's
>Not coordinating with your squad to finish task and missions in under 15 minutes
I pity you.
>mfw I never beat it
I just don't have time to go back and beat it... and with XC2 coming out, i'll never get back to it.
>Not communicating solely via emotes and Soul Voices
>Not being overpowered enough to solo most if not all squad missions in under 5 minutes
Get rid of Elma's Sliding Slinger ASAP. That's the worst skill in the entire game.
>Get blown out
>Resorting to shitposting and implausible scenarios.
Ignore Memewalker builds.
>Uses Miiverse
>Takes 15 minutes to clear online missions
>Says he "blew out" anyone
>He thinks he can solo all the tasks in 15 minute
>He doesn't aim for special
>KILL THE BABY PIGS
That lazy fuck should have done his own job.
Get ready for Elmo and potato girl. They're forced for most story events. Main story is a fucking joke, but side quests can be some cool shit. Nagi is a priority teammate to get if struggling to do something. Certain builds are infinitely better than others.
Not particularly soloing, but just doing whatever on my own while my teammates do the same. There's no deep strategy or effort needed to beat those missions that'd require team chat to pull off
I missed that one and I didn't even feel bad about the guy.
If you're doing it blind and without any communication, it makes it a hell of a lot harder if 3 people choose the same task and ignore the others.
You're making it sound like there's any kind of deep strategy and resource management involved in online missions, while it's always just "kill all monsters" with a few instances of "cut off body part X" and "mash A on those probes" sprinkled in from time to time
CUT THE BLUE WIRE!
STOP ALEX!
It does because of the numbers if you want to do it efficiently.
>DON'T LET HER TAKE A SHOWER
Has anybody ever failed that one? I mean, how obvious could that be?
The difference between doing it "effectively" or not is a couple of minutes, max, if even that, considering you're wasting time typing shit in fucking Miiverse.
You'd be surprised the number of DSP-tier retards I saw in early XCX threads going WOOOOOOOW NO ONE TOLD ME SHE COULDN'T TAKE A SHOWER! THANKS KOJIMA!
It's like these faggots had never watched a single horror movie in their lives
Seriously read the manual.
...
You don't even need to watch horror movies, you only need some common sense, for crying out loud.
...
>considering you're wasting time typing shit in fucking Miiverse.
Have you actually played the game? It ain't slow.
Is there an online multiplayer to this game?
I'm going to rush this ablity, but if I change classes how do I retain the ability?
I Rank 10'd Drifter and now a Commando but no retention of it's abilities. So I have to dump points into the Arts of drifter to "Max" a class?
>No sidequest to rebuild NLA.
Yes, it's still active, they shut down the in game communication part of it though.
I will need to update my System's firmware and CFW then, I'm still 5.1
No, you just have to rank 10 the advanced classes to freely use its arts regardless of class. Dropping points makes your arts stronger, don't waste em.
Don't try to cheat to much. Nintendo actually takes the time to ban the idiots who really bring attention to themselves.
...
I haven't even found out how to cheat games, only game I wanted to cheat was Hyrule Warriors so I dont have to grind rupees.
What are people doing to draw attention?
...
Don't hack your character and gear. Especially the latter. They tend to show up on leader boards and Nintendo is still pretty diligent about checking them and banning people.

Less whining, more doing solders!

New LA is kind of a small city. Most of it is full of holes. Also I love how humanity becomes a mirror to the ganglion. Where the Ganglion make alliances via fear and subjugation, Humanity genuinely inspires loyalty in the alien races, Except possibly the cat people, but even then theres genuine respect.
I need help with the worms in sylvalum. I'm using a basic meme walker build because I'm lazy. Can use resistance augment to survive the hits?\
of Ares 90 with resistance augments?
The cats were the best, I hope they come back in X2.
I usually don't cheat games like this.
I'm at the point of selecting a Division. Anons above were stressing Probing being important. Should I just go for Pathfinder or is there a best choice?
...
Pervert. Mia is pure. Her father wouldn't approve.
The Prone are my favorite race. They are a genuinely spiritual culture.
...
Has anyone made a build using the legendary Nopopopopon sword.

Man, Sylvalum was the best.
So was the White Whale the only ship to make it off earth?
I think topple resist gems might be a great help, haven't done those fights myself though
No. Sidequests reveal that Tokyo and Paris also made it out at least far enough to send messages to the WW before it crashed.
