You have been given the task to redesign Sonic. What will you do?

You have been given the task to redesign Sonic. What will you do?

Make his arms and legs even longer

give him his attitude from the dreamcast era back

Roll back to this.

I like modern sonic games sometimes, but they can never be as rich or original as the classic side of the series.

The redesign Tyson Hesse gave him is perfect.

Make his arms blue.

Make him Red and an Echidna.

/thread

also make his belly blue

Use Yuji Naka's joke design

Something like this but no neck as usual and the legs should be a ᵗᵉᵉᶰʸ bit longer

Make him edgy as fuck. Edgier than Shadow and Infinite combined. True edge. No gay shit.

Go back to the Toei style. He's a hedgehog, he should be spiky, not droopy.

Your mom has droopy tits.

Make him Vunerable

That's a legitimately good design.

I used a reference, but this is what I would do.

Make a 3rd storybook game,
Main team make adventure 1 remake
Get to work with mania team,
Explore sonic heroes 2 and unleashed 2

I'd rather redesign his friends.

Give him back the fucking bracelet he's supposed to be wearing after Sonic Unleashed.

i took some liberties with the concept but i think you can agree ive improved it immensely. no need to thank me.

no u

Make him a purple female cat with fire powers.

If i was in charge of sonic team, id have sonic have that in unleashed 2
My plan is to separate adventure, heroes, modern and classic sonic SEPARATE

>tranny sonic

Christine chan already has this covered. But it's not terrible reasoning, given the current trends.

I have no comment on that but id prefer to keep a gender confused hedgehog separate to the Modern, classic, boom, dreamcast split.

post more sonic art and ill edit that too. im drunk on power.

I request sir sonic and lucario
They both have a strong aura

do you like this version?

Flat as an ironing board.

Make him a wicked cool white hedgehog with psychokenetic powers.

I'm not hearing any issues here.

Make him look like this. Make the game about capturing small animals and putting them into robots.

DRUNK I SAY

Sonic needs to cover up how about a sailor shirt

Oh, and good job

so why does he put the animals in the robots? are they all just running off hamster wheels?

Roll back to his CD/OVA design and get rid of all the over the top edgy modern era bullshit.
The series being a lighthearted comedy with moderately arrogant Sonic and troublemaker shitposter Robotnik was the best formula.

I like to build upon legacy
So i support a adventure/classic/modern split
This is what nintendo does

DRUUUUUUNK
thanks man.

My heart!

You think you can do sailor sonic in this legendary art?

...

Classic Sonic's design was literal perfection. It appeals to almost everyone, and is capable of being both cute and cool at the same time.

Changing it to what became the Modern design in a desperate attempt to "stay hip" was one of the first (of many) mistakes they made when bringing Sonic into 3D. The kiddies that grew up on Modern Sonic will never understand why his design is inferior to Classic's, and it breaks my heart to know that Sonic Team has forced them to settle for less from what was once a truly great series.

I have a soft spot for Modern too, but there's so much more to love about Classic in general that it's not even a contest, really.

>but it's not fair to compare the two
It absolutely is. What, you think people didn't do that when Super Mario 64 came out? Or SA1, for that matter? Just because the format changed doesn't mean you can't expect the same level of quality from the same team that brought you games like Sonic 3. The fact is, Classic, in relation to the main games and not the spin offs, was a labor of love. Modern, on the other hand, was and still is just running down a checklist of things to add into their games so they can grab as much cash as possible while maybe making a fun game every once and a while on accident. This is the sad reality that most Modern kids can't accept. I don't say this out of hatred towards Modern Sonic. I say it because it's the truth.

To the Modernfags who I surely triggered by saying all this: you can call me a Classicfag all you want, but at least I don't have to go through Olympian-tier mental gymnastics to defend my version of Sonic when it fucked up. The fact that people try to compare the flaws that Modern Sonic has to Classic's, as if that suddenly absolves Modern of any fault, is deeply depressing and indicative of just how far in denial they are about the state of their favorite franchise.

tl;dr Fuck Sega, fuck Sonic Team, and fuck Takashi Iizuka. Eat shit /sthg/.

Sonic now spreading islam, eggman is christianitys last hope.

don't forget his mouth

Why is silver only ever in the bad games

Never explained. I guess them being on a hamster wheel could work, but that doesn't explain him using animals like birds and turtles. They're probably not in pain with wires and shit going into them since you can obviously destroy the robot with them inside and they'll be fine. Maybe they don't serve as batteries, but instead have their brainwaves harnessed to make the badniks move around in lieu of a real AI.

Go to bed, Egghead

Because Sega doesn't know how to make a hedgehog that has the move objects with your mind power have actual fun and engaging gameplay, with problem solving.

Nah instead they'll just slap him into the background and if playable just make him a slow hedgehog with slightly different abilities.

Real talk though, I want a Silver the Hedgehog game. Untapped potential there.

>Take Sonic Adventure and Sonic Boom
>Fuse them

give bobble

Well, valve is who id think would make a good silver game, also nintendo

Boom's horrible designs have actually grown on me. They're not amazing, but neither is Sonic.

Make sonic a realistic looking hedgehog.

If Sega had been smart back in the day they would have capitalized on Sonic's side characters like Nintendo did with Wario and Yoshi, but instead we only got
>2 games for Tails on a handheld, only one of which was good and released outside Japan
>a game for Knuckles on a failed addon, which wasn't even marketed as a Knuckles game in Japan and instead was the launch of a bunch of what were at the time literally whos, also just played like a shittier version of normal Genesis Sonic
>a game for Shadow that was just a shittier version of regular Adventure Sonic
>all this plus negative reception to the inclusion of side characters like Big in Adventure 1 and the awful playstyles of Silver and Shadow in '06
So unfortunately, there's not much likelihood of any more titles with a side character as the star.

I admit, boom has grown on me too.
But its better to keep them seperate

nice

cute

Knuckles - Hueg Edition has manged to worm his way into my heart as the preferred design of the character, but I don't much care for any of the others except Eggman and Amy, and Amy really wasn't that drastic of a change.

I guess it shows that even good writing can make the most oddest of designs look good by association.

Make him red.

>What, you think people didn't do that when Super Mario 64 came out?
Well, for one, SM64 was actually a great game, while pretty much all of Sonic Team's attempts after 3&K have glaring flaws.

Two, that's part of the problem with the fans: people expect this 1:1 recreation of classic Sonic in 3D, but games like Mario and Zelda redefined how they played when they made the jump to 3D. Modern Sonic games have a lot of fucking issues, but it always gets me when people bitch about shit like not playing like the Genesis games, as if that's the reason why the games are bad.

funnily enough, i did better with the more detailed picture. huh. oh well.
heres this piece of shit. im going to bed.

Make them all humans. There, fixed.

Im realyl feeling it!
Thanks!
Enjoy sleep!

>Mario and Zelda redefined how they played when they made the jump to 3D.
Which is why they never successfuly made the jump to 3D. SM64 played completely differently to Mario even when you separate it from its 3D presentation. BotW has come the closest to Zelda making the jump to 3D, but there is still a long way to go.

Since Mario and Zelda never properly transitioned to 3D, Sonic never had a chance.

Make him go faster.

They did that, it didnt work,
>mach speed sections
>boost
Turns out that speed destroys non linear platforming unlike classic 2d level design

>Which is why they never successfuly made the jump to 3D
I wouldn't say that. 3D Land/World is basically what 2D Mario would be like in 3D, and 3D Zelda generally followed the same formula laid out by ALttP. Regardless of how "true" they are to their predecessors, I don't think that makes it a failure of a transition. It's a given that shit that works in 2D might not necessarily work in 3D and vice-versa, and that's something to keep in mind with Sonic as well.

For example, Utopia looks interesting, but we haven't actually seen anything besides a sandbox to fuck around in.

Utopia shows potential, i feel it

>3D Land/World is basically what 2D Mario would be like in 3D
3D Land and 3D World are the ultimate proof that Mario does not work in 3D and never can. They were terrible games.

>and 3D Zelda generally followed the same formula laid out by ALttP.
From a plot and progression perspective, sure. But in terms of an open world and survival, no. From LttP onward, the series focused more and more on puzzles instead of exploration in a dangerous world. People forget that the original Zelda was extremely popular because of it required exploration and survival, not its "puzzles," of which they were practically nonexistent. BotW did the correct thing by taking inspiration from the original Zelda, but much more needs to be done. There need to be more dungeons, the shrines need to go, weapon durability needs to go in order to make equipment more meaningful, and there needs to be more of a focus on combat with a wider array of enemies.

>For example, Utopia looks interesting, but we haven't actually seen anything besides a sandbox to fuck around in.
Utopia looks like garbage, and the lack of focus and terrible camera are the glaring reasons why.

This but with Unleashed quills and shade of blue

The Chad hedgehog

Utopia is an polished jem plus to get something like sonic mania sega was desparate

>3D world is ultimate proof that Mario doesn’t work in 3D
Nigger what. 3d world was a great game, but even disregarding that, Mario Odyssey is the best game released this year. Mario works great in 3d.

Too many sequels, needs more original content to build off of

>3D Land and 3D World are the ultimate proof that Mario does not work in 3D and never can. They were terrible games.
Mario has worked in 3D for over twenty years now and 3D Land and 3D World were fine.

give him a big ol' cock

>dude shitposting LMAO
how much of a contrarian faggot would you have to be to genuinely consider Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time bad games lol

...

With Knuckles, he needed a better visual representation of his character. He was basically red sonic, but was apparently really strong so they just gave him his oversized hands. Being fuckhuge actually gave him the appearance of a strong character.

Sonic Boom's character design was pretty good all things considered.

>Mario does not work in 3D and never can
Thanks for posting that, now I know you're just a faggot.

Not entirely, adventure/modern split is is going to happen over time.
People want a heroes 2
Unleashed 2

>Utopia is an polished jem
Absolutely not. The camera frequently panning down while running ruins it. Not being able to see where you're going in a game where you can go fast is a cardinal sin.

>3d world was a great game
It was trash.

>but even disregarding that, Mario Odyssey is the best game released this year.
It was not. It has far too much filler.

>Mario has worked in 3D for over twenty years now
3D games with Mario in them have existed for over 20 years, but Mario does not and has never worked in 3D. There are fundamental differences between the way 2D Mario and 3D Mario plays, and even in 3D Land and 3D World those differences exist. The fact that Nintendo continues to steal ideas and content from 2D Mario for 3D Mario is proof enough that 3D Mario cannot stand on its own.

Furthermore, 3D Mario doesn't move hardware and never has. NSMBW, as bland and uninspired as it was, outsold both Galaxies combined. NMSB outsold SM64DS, NSMB2 outsold 3D Land, NSMBU outsold 3D World. If Nintendo actually put effort into a 2D Mario it would blow Odyssey's sales out of the fucking water. Mario is THE franchise that built Nintendo, and yet their flagship 3D games starring Mario get outsold by half-assed Mario games.
2D Mario is Mario, always has been, always will be.

I didn't say they were bad games, I said that they were not successful jumps to 3D, because they weren't. There's a difference.

>and even in 3D Land and 3D World those differences exist.
Well no shit. That has nothing to do with whether 3D Mario "works" or not.

Better than generations, camera control gets better dont forget utopia is a proof of concept.

Classic head & spikes, Adventure torso, slightly shorter arms and legs.

When was the last time Sonic Team gave a shit about including what people want? And don't say Mania, they didn't make that game.

Exactly, thats the problem, sonic heroes 2 would sell more than forces and its not boost gameplay,
Generations was going to be hard to top and we all knew it wasnt going to happen

Should've been obvious based on this bout of autistic pseudo-intellectual videogame analyzation.
Obviously shit changes when you transition to 3D. The only real differences between Mario 64 and 3D World come from the level design. 64 Takes the concept of going from point A to B, and places point B on the highest area of the map. 3D World instead places it at the end of a tunnel like a 2D game. It's a difference sure, but how is that enough to say it's not a successful transition? It takes the concept of reaching the end of a level, and takes the end's placement into account considering the fact that there is now a Z-axis. 3D World takes the cheap way out, and limits your access to the Z-axis.

Galaxy did 2d to 3d linear course clear gameplay the best, 3d world never stood a chance
>galaxyfags wanted Galaxy 3

>this denial

Take his gloves off

How about fingerless gloves?

I hate the way modern Sonic's spines move around like weird tentacles in the newer games. They should be perky, like a nice pair of tits.

If you genuinely believe this stuff you’ve been autistically blogposting, I feel bad for you

Why do grown """"""men"""""" care about Sonic in 2017?

>64 Takes the concept of going from point A to B, and places point B on the highest area of the map.
That's a very simplistic viewpoint. 64's entire structure is drastically different. 64 is built on the idea of collecting trinkets and using those trinkets as gatekeepers of progress. 2D Mario has warps allowing you to choose how you wish to progress in the game and nothing to collect other than entirely optional coins for extra lives.

The added moves also diluted the platforming. Suddenly you can punch, kick, and dive into enemies to kill them instead of needing to jump on them or jump over them. Things like the long jump and triple jump trivialized obstacles and dangers. There were no actual power-ups, just caps that are used for puzzle-solving. Mario is not about puzzles.

Nintendo changed absolutely everything about Mario with SM64, and thus, SM64 was no longer Mario.

Breast physics for sonics spines?
Like marios nose?
