What were your best and worst impulse buys Sup Forums? It had to be a game you bought without any forethought or planning.
What were your best and worst impulse buys Sup Forums...
BEST:
MAFIA III.
WORST:
Killing Floor.
>impulse buying
kek
>buys
>bought
Best: TWEWY
Knew absolutely NOTHING, literally only saw the tin pin slammer promo art and thought "eh, why not".
Worst: Megaman Battle Network 4.
Enjoyed the fuck out of 3, picked up 4 randomly, holy fuck it was awful.
Grabbed a Dreamcast on a whim. Best purchase ever.
Bought Ar Tonelico based on box art alone. Too embarrassing to even finish. Holy fucking hell that game.
Best: La-mulana, easily. Honorable mention goes to dangan ronpa, solely because I went in expecting a typical highschool vn that had a neat aesthetic on a whim only to find out its phoenix wright: despair edition.
Worst was easily owlboy. That game insulted me as a videogame player in so many ways
Best: Not sure, I've had a few work out well, but I can't pick my favorite of the bunch. Recently, I ended up giving Arms a shot barely knowing anything at all about it (I also missed the test-punch) and liked it.
Worst: Too many, thankfully they were mostly when I was a kid though. This shit-heap ranks up pretty high, but I give them credit for the amount of animations they put in.
>That game insulted me as a videogame player in so many ways
Do tell.
How much did you pay for Rayearth? I think I paid $150 for my copy back in 2013.
Best: Bloodborne, I had heard about Dark Souls before, never played it, but didn't know BB was made by the same people and had heard almost nothing about it as most of my friends are PC gamers.
Worst: Perfect Dark Zero, I used to love Rare so when I saw their logo I jumped for it. I remember playing the original PD at a friends house so figured this would be great. It wasn't.
BEST: Harvest Moon 64. I went to the store for Kirby Crystal Shards and they didn't have it. I didn't want to go home empty handed so I picked the most anime looking shit in the case.
WORST: Ephemeral Fantasia. Fuck everything about that game. I just wanted a JRPG for the PS2. Just so happened to be my first PS2 software purchase as well.
The culmination of all of owlboy's problems comes from the very tutorial, where you toss and break the pot. The game forces you to make terrible decisions to progress the plot and it handholds you through some of the easiest dungeons in vidya. The game doesn't let up, even at the very end, where the obviously-not-bad-person tells you to not interfere during his obviously-going-to-save-the-world chant, and you can either disrupt him by attacking him or do nothing. Attack him and the ending sequence of you fucking everything up and unfucking it by sacrificing yourself plays out. Don't attack him.. the chant loops forever until you attack him. It is a failure of a videogame.
Best: Probably Mass Effect.
Worst: The Surge. I like Souls, I like Sci-Fi, but the game was just dull bullshit. I really did try to like it, but ultimately I never finished it.
My worst impulse buy was fucking Sticker Star. I bought it digitally too.
Best: XCOM
Worst: Lords of the Fallen
Best: The Rift I'm posting from
Worst: Pillars of Eternity
Boy, you saying you don't like Eternia?
I wish namco would release it again, either digital or physical for modern consoles/pc, I don't care which as long as it isn't $300 or some shit like either the ps1 or psp version is now.
>spoiler
That's fucking disgusting. I absolutely hate shit like that.
Best: Alundra
Worst: Mario Color Splash
We warned you. We FUCKING warned you!
Best: Dundertale, noticed it before the hype, bought it immediately, good game, got out before it became a meme
Worst: Brink, holy fuck
Like all tales sequels, it just feels like pandering+fanfiction of the original.
>Best
Freedom Planet. Damn, that was a good game.
>Worst
Strike Vector. Fucking dead ass game.
Got it at launch. Don't remember the price but probably like $70.
Best: Jumping Flash. Not many PlayStation games in the early days of the system's life caught my eye but I gave this one a shot and it's still one of my favorites of the "old" PlayStation era pre-FFVII.
Worst: Beyond the Beyond. I was really into SNES RPGs and this was again pre-FFVII so I nabbed it. What a garbage game.
