I really want Bloodstained to be good. But it really should have just been a 3DS game to start with. Unreal and consoles added so much cost and complexity.

I mean, Metroid Samus Returns cost a fraction, and looks decent. Imagiend if Bloodstaiend started as a 3DS game, and got an enhanced version for PC and consoles.

It looks real ugly

I'm really excited for it honestly. i'm a slut for igavanias

it's obvious but all they need is better lighting

That the problem with BS. the visuals look bland but fans of Iga games are used to sprites where every single object naturally pops visually.

Yup, one of the major things that separates last gen titles from current gen is lighting. That shit looks really goddamn flat.

Here's Samus returns, and it's obviously has lower polygons it doesn't look THAT much worse which makes MN9 and Bloodstaind's insistence on Unreal rather perplexing. And Samus Returns seems to have better art design, with characters and enemies "popping" a bit better. Now, imagine if Samus Returns got an enhanced Switch port, running at 60fps, and some better graphics. That's the model MN9+BS should have went with. 30fps 3DS base game, enhanced home versions.

>This looks so flat. Where are the shadows? This is so bland!

>Metroid Samus Returns cost a fraction,
It was also built on an engine already tailored to that hardware years ago.

I don't have a problem with Bloodstained's visual style, but the animations are lacking the 'snappiness' (for lack of a better word) that I'm used to seeing from the 2d Castlevanias. That weapon swing animations of hers should last 4-5 frames for the swing + delayed wait on reusing it, not a whole second to swing itself.

When I backed I managed to convince myself that it all sprites. It's so hideous, at least my expectations have been lowered to the point where I can't possibly be disappointed in the final game :(

That's a 2D game. Expectations are different.

>That's a 2D game. Expectations are different.

Luckily with their choice of engine it's something they can do late in development no prob.

When is this coming out? Taking forever.

Should have been a cool male protagonist edgelord, not Shanoa 2.0.

I like the waifus but Iga really needed to make this game badass.

More excited about that anime Dark Souls from NAMCO.

Nice emulator that allows you to change resolution so the game doesn't look like hot garbage like it does on a actual 3ds.

>When is this coming out? Taking forever.

the project has been a disaster from start to finish, but Iga is making the best of it. Officially it's "early 2018". My guess is that they'll silently drop "early", and it'll probably come out in late 2018.

Speed up the gameplay about 25% and we're good.

A delay announced long long before it's initial release date.
Removal of the cancer known as inti-Creates last year. Demo showing that even a fucking no name phone game company could do their job better. Looking progressively better since last year.
I'm pretty sure you don't know shit sir.

Runs at the exact same speed as SotN. So no. get your eyes checked and "you're" good.

Firing the main developers 1 year into development is sign of a complete disaster.

It could be better though. Watch the webm at 1.25/1.50 speed.

But Bloodstained looks good as it is right now.

That looks so fucking slow. Dropped.

Now it looks like castlevania DS.
Which I didn't back the game for.
So SotN is perfectly fine.

Some things run similar to SOTN, like the speed the girl runs forward. But then when she needs to turn around, she takes like 15 frames. And she has the same super long delay after attacking that Soma had. Alucard had instant rotation and you could use jumps/backdash to cancel attack lag. This is what makes SOTN such an easy game. But it's also better than anything IGA made.

You're still going to play it.
Hell. you backed it at a high tier so you already have the game.
Why be a shit?

I think it looks really good

Well of course. A 3d model turning on a dime looks like jank horse shit. you can't replicate 2d shortcuts in 3d without it looks like complete ass.

Metroid Samus Returns was 70% finished in character, item locations, enemies, map, story, and concept. mercury steam needed only slap better graphics on it and piss on the game with pissbaby easy mode abilities and countering.

They barely had to do fuck all for a remake.

Nintendo did most of the work already before it was passed to mercury stream?

Which is why this game is going to be shit. Trying to make a game that plays like a 2D game with 3D graphics is always a bad idea. Unless it is a full remake like Samus Returns, which doesn't try to play like the previous game.

This is IGAs constant problem. He never realizes he needs to get away from the SotN engine. But every game he makes, even the full 3D ones, just sticks to it.

Yes. By making Metroid II: Samus returns for the game boy.
A remake does't take nearly as long to make nor nearly as much resources manpower or money.
Because it is has most of it's game planning down pat. who the main character is, Enemy placement, map layout, item placement, Item effects, Bosses, game progression, the games mechanics as a whole. All done and released on the gameboy years ago. they just needed to remake it from the ground up to the exact same game but 3d. Which would cost exponentially less and take so so much less time to make than making a brand new game from scratch.

Expect it does. the only reason why it seems fine is because unlike Castlevania. Samus had sprites made for it in samus returns on GB for turning around.
The only thing that stands apart from the original is the parry, free aim, and directional skills.

>The only thing that stands apart from the original is the parry, free aim, and directional skills.
And a dozen new types of doors, transport pads, Metroids are scripted boss fights, tons of new items, etc. Note, I'm not saying all of those are good things. But Samus Returns is about as big of a change from the original as Zero Suit was from Metroid 1. If not moreso.

I wouldn't go nearly that far.
Many lot of pointless additions doesn't make it on par with Zero mission on any stretch of the imagination.

>"this game looks too good/developed"
>"pls give for 3DS"
stop being a stereotype and go buy a real game system
any of them
the game's coming out on all of them

I didn't say it is as good as Zero Mission. I just said it had as many new items/changes as Zero Mission. If not more.

No necessarily a good thing.
