Isn't that the premise of the first Torchlight game? Also
>there will never be a game that executes the idea with the grandeur and mysticism of Made in Abyss

your mom

Fate
Torchlight

Persona 5

What are some video games that are getting a movie adaption?

I'm more interested in a dungeon that extends upwards.
I thought the dungeon in Danmachi was like this at first.

This is why I liked Demons Souls and Dark Souls 2 to an extent. Coming back to the hub always felt like coming back to camp to prepare yourself before setting off deeper into the dungeon. I think Dark souls lost this feeling with its persistent world and interconnected dungeons.

Stardew Valley

The classic Wizardry

Crimson Tears

user, it's getting a 2nd season, not a movie.

Let It Die has that.

>Made in Abyss
is it good? or is it generic weeb garbage

Some Etrian Odyssey games go up, some down, except IV.

Demise: The Revelation

You got like 32 floors to get through and all the characters you make can be partied together or played solo or you can play online with other people up to 16 per server wandering around the dungeon...if you die you have to send another character in to retrieve your corpse or you can resurrect but it takes time off your life...and yeah, your characters age and if you're human and hit 100 you die and that's it, though I think you can find potions of youth.

Wizardry and Etrian Odyssey.
Hell P3 with Tartarus as a whole.

Prove it.

Multiplayer wizardry?

I'm going to have to look that shit up

I dunno what's really considered generic weeb garbage, but I read through the entire manga over the course of the last few days, and I enjoyed it. Just be warned, it can get very dark, and it becomes loli/shota torture porn at times. Despite that fact, it has a very interesting premise, and feels a lot like a video game at times. I'd say give it a try. It shouldn't take you more than five or six hours to read what there is already.

And where does it mention it's a 2nd season bub?

what about the anime?

What? Why didn't I know about this? I spent ages looking for some cracked version of Ascesion.

Dark Souls really should have done that.

LoZ Phantom Hourglass

We don't know if it's a second season or just an OVA. There isn't even enough material for an S2 anyways since the source material releases 1 chapter every 4-6 months.

>ywn make a game that starts out as a generic action rpg but slowly converts to a psychological horror as you descend deeper down the abyss

Very good art and world building. Good adaption in general but doesn't get to the best part.

I haven't watched the anime, but apparently the first season ends before a big villain shows up? That's why I chose to read the manga instead. I might watch the anime for fun.

looks great actually. will download the manga. thanks

What´s this from?

watch the anime

Made in Abyss.
Read the thread next time.

The shadow tower games.

>20k
>deep
lol

I saw that artwork and then some anime screenshots and i though you guys were trolling.
That depiction of the abyss is gorgeous, but the anime looks like shit desu.

Is this actually good or an Sup Forums meme.

My life

are you retarded

No U
It's a fantasy, should be something like 100-200k

/thread

Zelda Phantom Hourglass.

Neverwinter Nights Hordes of the Underdark had that.

then why did you ask?

>anime
wew

Thing is I can list off so much anime that does this but hard to find actual games
There is grimrock but you're constantly in the dungeon.
I do wish someone made a game implementing that aspect more lovingly. Like say you get to see that giant tower you need to climb. The whole thing would technically be in a dungeon but you could have parts where you're scaling it from outside where you can look around and really notice how vast the tower actually is, really hammering in the scale of it all

I agree. There's so much potential, and it's great because the setting is a character as well.

I remember playing the Neverwinter MMO and the final leveling area was just like Made in Abyss.

Spelunky

Etrian Odyssey series.
Some of them even feel a bit like MiA.

>persistent

pls

You've got to be persistent to get to Yama

;D

What video games let me travel through a mysterious post-apocalyptic wasteland?

ayyy

>watching anime in 2017
>PARTY ROCKERS IN THE HOUSE TONIGHT

>generic weeb garbage
This. It completely wastes the interesting setting and sets up generic anime bad guy. Don't forget gratuitous loli and shota fanservice.

Literally turned it from an 8/10 to a 6/10

If no one ever reached the bottom how do they know it is the bottom?

>and sets up generic anime bad guy
What? Nigger isn't the main villain. Hell, he's basically not even a villain.

It's pretty good, but there were better shows this year. Sup Forums started to shit on it once MiA became popular, in case you care about things like that.

>Hell, he's basically not even a villain.

>Sup Forums started to shit on it once MiA became popular

But aren't they the ones who translated the manga in the first place?

Sup Forums has the worst taste in anime, nobody cares about their opinion.

is nanachi going to die?

Many older CRPGs like Wizardry, Pool of Radiance, Ultima, or The Bard's Tale.
From the Abyss
Summon Night Swordcraft Story
Persona 3
Etrian Odyssey
Strange Journey
Class of Heroes
Spenlunky
Rogue Legacy
Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup
Treasures of Tarmin
Gauntlet, Gauntlet II, and the Gauntlet reboot/remake

Faxanadu does this, you're climbing the World Tree.

just like Sup Forums with video games

they were probably the first english speaking fanbase who cared about the manga but it's popular now so too bad, people hate it.

>Hell, he's basically not even a villain.

What are some video games where you play as an immortal aspect of humanity that loses everything near and dear for something almost incomprehensible?

Oh wait that's Nier Automata shit.

But Bondrewd was only an obstacle they passed past and continued on down to the most interesting arc in the story.

>Rogue Legacy
wrong

>his voice actor has voiced sephiroth, kira, griffith and now bondrewd

Am I seeing a pattern here?

ADoM
Has a literally endless dungeon.

>Mengele wasn't evil because his needlessly cruel human experiments maybe helped the medical field

Turn into an immortal abomination of pain and suffering user.

Grimrock 2?

I guess you're right, it's not descending so much as ascending, descending, and heading to the right.

Unadulterated exploration and survival story in varied alien environments with bizzare and dangerous organisms would've been great and somewhat fresh.
Instead we've spent vast majority of the time interacting with other humanoids in ways not really any different from other manga stories.
Yawn.

Just wanted to share the first level map as well.

Dragons dogma bitterblack isle

There is no way to interact with animals that want to eat you.

Speaking of anime and towers, Pandora's Tower is just what you're describing.

Not even a bad game either, although not a revelation.

Fight for survival?

Dark Souls

There absolutely is, or you'd get eaten.

There must be some kind of morality difference here because there is nothing evil about the pursuit of knowledge.

Everyone's going to die

But they did that already.

PoE had a nice dungeon
fuck the ogre layer. though

>it's another the means justifies the end villain who did ""nothing wrong"""

Is this worth playing if i really liked Lost Oddysey but felt The Last Story was basically garbage?

I wanted to love The Last Story too, but it fell too short in too many respects; I really loved the gritty cinematography-esque presentation and art style, but the overall game designs and choices just fell short in every way.

Always kind of wanted to buy Pandora's Tower

So, generic battle shounen?

Hollow Knight is if you want the True Ending.

Looks cool, shame they made it for a console nobody even knew was a console

Like twice. You know there is a simple pleasure in reading a story about survival with a tight cast and imaginative environments and creatures.
Instead we get le bunny girl, twisted genius doctor, etc. You could shift the whole story into a slum and keep the same characters with minimal changes.
Battle shounen is nothing like survival story tard.

Xenoblade Chronicles does the largescale setting fantastically

The whole time you're living on top of these two giant dead robots, and can see the different parts of each robot from the various areas you're on

The sequel looks like it'll also have backgrounds in that regard, on smaller but actually living continent organisms

That's a good guess, but the more I think about it the more Automata is almost a perfect fit:
>Porcelain skin of the androids = Gem skin
>Human behaviour coded in = Human features inherited
>Struggle and fight against an endless, unfathomable foe.
>Humanity is extinct

Etc etc, I love it.
