Why don't more tactical/military shooters include a planning phase like the original Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon games? I get that the mainstream gamer crowd just wants to jump in for instant action but I can't believe there isn't a niche market for these types of games.
Why don't more tactical/military shooters include a planning phase like the original Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon games...
>niche market
Yeah, there's a niche market but it's just that, niche.
Also, check out Hidden&Dangerous games.
The real question you should be asking is "why don't more games let us gun down sandniggers?"
>Hidden&Dangerous
I was really wondering why we don't get new games in the genre. Also, as far as I am aware these games don't have a planning phase they just have loadouts and briefings.
There is a niche market for it. Only problem is that no one seems to want to tap into it for a while now. There is an upcoming SWAT spiritual successor though. Can't recall the title.
Ummm... racist and sexist much?
>I can't believe there isn't a niche market for these types of games
who the fuck says there isn't? The problem is that you can make a game for the niche and make thousands or you can make a game for EVERYONE EVER and make BILLIONS
True except that niche games get made in other genres all the time.
you should play Arma 3 then
Those other genres don't require as much effort to make a game for as a tactical shooter in the vein of the older R6, Ghost Recon and SWAT.
That makes sense. The only other niche game with a ton of depth that comes to mind right now is m&b 2 and we can all see how well that is going. Maybe it will be released in the next decade.
gotta make game about evul white christians instead
Been playing rainbow six Vegas 2 one of the best fps games I've ever played also one of the hardest fucking aimbot sniper A.I its all bout that timing
You just described Siege
Play....most military shooters in the last decade?
don't reply to me
siege isn't a real rainbow six game
it's a travesty that rainbow six is even in the name desu.
what a shame that ubi hasn't made a good game since chaos theory.
You probably came from the same thread I did, but I'll say again: I want a new game in the vein of Rogue Spear and Raven Shield. The newer Clancy games are fine, but they have so little to do with the originals in both spirit and aesthetic that they might as well be completely new IPs at this point.
>You probably came from the same thread I did
I didn't I just made this thread on a whim.
lol(laugh out loud)
...
Oops, this was meant for
I have pretty much given hope that any so called AAA developers will make a game I want to play ever again.
>Hidden&Dangerous
These looks pretty good user, thanks.
Yeah, mostly this.
Because videos are made for the mass market and that means making them accessible to people who have no patience and lack the intellctual capacity to figure out how things in an environment uncommon to them work. Planning mode means thinking, means being able to adapt. In this day and age video game production has become so insanely expensive from all the visual fidelity and design the consumer expects that you can't risk not selling the game to more people by introducing challenge or complexity. You have to look to indie games with low production value for that because if that one guy who worked on the game fucks up and nobody buys it there's no imminent bankruptcy looming over him.
Hidden and Dangerous 2 is the best game of the franchise but 1 and 3 are still good .
