More powerful Xbox One and PS4

>more powerful Xbox One and PS4
>Switch is just a portable Wii U
>all current consoles are do-overs for the failed start of the eighth gen
>all three even went from glossy to matte

This is not the ninth generation of gaming. It is gen 8.5.

Also, unrelated, but: console brands are now color-coded to R-G-B.

No one is calling these "ninth generation" you autismo, that's like trying to group the GBA SP in a different gen than the GBA

Better than having to buy all my games again for just hardware revisions

Switch is gen 9

Nintendo just waited extremely long to step into the 8th gen. They're doing good though.

All the SP offered was a backlight and better form factor. If you were talking about the DSi, then you might have a point.

>It is gen 8.5.

Yeah, it is. Were we saying otherwise?

This scrotum was.

Switch is current gen. Sony and XBox are last gen (same gen as the Wii U). Sorry sweetie.

Oh, I'm sorry. Is that why it has the Wii U's library?

PS3 remasters
Xbox BC

your “””argument””” = demolished

Xbone and PS4 are last gen. Switch is current gen.

Why is it so hard for people to use logic?

>can't cite a single example

your argument = nonexistent, bromeo.

Is that a political compass?

What logic? You just stated your conclusion without any arguments.

Reminder that the gen each device is in is based on release date, not power.
Reminder that the Switch released inbetween Sony and Microsoft doubling down on their 8th gen consoles.
Reminder that one company can and have had multiple console in one gen

Literally only the most shit eating fanboy thinks the Switch is 9th generation

Is zelda fucking rated M in yurope?

you seen links midriff yet?

I like how Sony adopted blue as it's mainstay just to show how much they were trying to bury Sega.

32X and Sega CD are not "new" consoles, nerd.

Xbone X and PS4 Pro are literally the consoles that were supposed to launch instead of the gimped boxes that we got in 2013.

Sony and Microsoft were expecting another 10 year generation of hardware but Nintendo released the Wii U forcing Sony and Microsoft to rush their hardware to market.

This is why last gen was utter shit and why the PS4 with zero games sold exclusively on marketing hype.

Even if your retarded rambling about how everything wrong this gen is the WiiU faults were true. It still wouldn't make the Switch 9th gen

When did they ever have a 10 year period of hardware stability prior to 360/PS3? I don't think the PS2 or Xbox had a 10 year run and the 360/PS3 era was the era you were referring to.

Will it retroactively make it 9th gen if sony releases a shitty handheld?

Sega's colour was sort of orange when the Dreamcast came along, right?

Anyone can release a console now and use orange, purple (Gamecube)… or yellow. No one's used yellow yet, I don't think.

It's the successor to the Wii U and 3DS. Nintendo have abandoned the Wii brand. It is 9th gen.

Well they've already confirmed that they aren't fucking doing that so it's a non issue. But no I would not.

What that user's saying is totally half-baked. The only reason PS3, 360 and Wii lasted so long was the recession made everyone less interested in buying new consoles.

Switch isn’t a hardware revision. It’s a new console. Ninty singlehandedly started the 9th gen, baby.

Then why is it called the Swiitch?

Also: Nintendo will not coast on the success of a single device. They are going to release a companion that's sort of a smaller switch/more powerful 3DS. Mark my words, it's the safest strategy for them.

Fuck they started a new era desu

Was going to say, most console lifespans prior were lucky to get 5-6 years and most knew their successor at 3-4 even if the name changed.

>They are going to release a companion that's sort of a smaller switch/more powerful 3DS
"No."

You should be a business exec, user. Your ideas are great.

>"We're doing really well with this one product, but we have more ideas we want to try out—"
>No, everything is fine and will stay fine.

>console brands are now color-coded to R-G-B
I wasn't aware that the current year was 2001.

Pfft, if only. I'm not sure what point you're trying to make, though.

I should be. Who is your target market for this product? What is the price point? How do you differentiate the two products? Are the games compatible? How do you not lose your existing base by shitting in their face by releasing the same thing they already have, but cheaper? If they aren't compatible, how do you divide development assets and court third parties? What is the price structure for the games? Is it more profitable than the current one?

I think GameBoy and PS2 were probably the longest. We did get ~10 years with he 360/PS3, but Sony and Microsoft would have preferred the last few years to not have required an 8th gen system and an 8th gen revision.

It worked on Sonys favor, as the xbone launch pretty much destroyed the success the 360 had being the #1 normie/gaymer box two gens ago in the sense that it became the pop culture view of video games for the time.

>What do you do if the successor to your current and only product fails? What do you have to fall back on?

More important questions, you little ingenue.

Answer my questions first and I'll answer yours.

PSRro is just a hardware revision.

but the other two are hard reboots.

The answers aren't my point, it's what Nintendo should be thinking about. They aren't an electronics conglomerate. They don't own the most popular OS in the world. All they have is the Switch and, for now, the 2DS.

Wii was 7th. gen and it got Gamecube games. What's your point?

>GCN > Wii
>add motions controls
>Wii U > Switch
>subtract second screen

So you're saying Wii was a step forward and the Switch is a step back?

Nintendo is a toy and leisure time maker.
Video games are toys and leisure time. They'll be ok.

And until you answer my very first question, nothing else can be done. There has to be a different market or a different product. Marketing 101. Now what are they?

>TLOU Remastered
>Nathan Drake Collection
>GoW 3 Remastered
>Metro Redux
>Bioshock Collection
>Halo MCC
>Wipeout Omega Collection
>Ass Creed Ezio Collection
>Batman Return to Arkham
>Borderlands Collection
>Bulletstorm Full Clip
>Darksiders 1 and 2 remastered
>DMC4 SE
>Gravity Rush Remastered
>Injustice Remastered
>Sleeping Dogs Remastered
>Fucking Skyrim Remastered
>Womb Raider Definitive
And these are just the remasters of gen 7 games (with the exception of MCC).

>TLOU Remastered
Dropped.

Sure. Sure. Phone apps are leisure time toys, too. I guess you would be ok with Nintendo wading into the murk of all-touch interface fee-to-play "video games", then?

No, I'm saying that user has no argument. Where are you getting that from?

You are a fool.

Let's not forget that the wii U, xbone, and ps4 probably all got CoD ghosts and ass creed while they also launched on 360 and ps3 and pc

Sorry what game?

>Switch is ninth gen
>NES Golf built-in

A fool who passed marketing and gets paid to manufacture hype on forums and social media.

Answer the question.

Yep, and GTA V.
But just for the sake of argument, we'll only include last gen remasters.

Not an argument

Looks like you're pretty bad at your job lmao

Who boasts about it to strangers online? I'm tearing up imagining your salary, fool.

Macbooks sell more than 8 year old thinkpads with better specs and none of the price, don't they?

Nobody is claiming this is gen 9.
Sweetie posters should be banned.

>Breath of the Wild
>Rated M
Euro ratings put a letter for which ethnic, class or age group the game might trigger. In this case...

M for muslims
>pic related

>this thread

Wow, it does not take much to irritate nintenbros.

wtf am I reading.

I didn't say the pay was good, but for the fuckall I do being a social engineer or social media consultant or advertising grunt or whatever my job title actually is, it isn't bad.

We met cyber monday quotas, I'm a little completely fucking hammered.

Generations is just a concept. It's not some law of the universe like you guys act like it is.

It should honestly be an amalgamation of colors on top of a black background. I'm not feeling the blue.
