Should I play the ps1 directors cut or the GameCube remake

Should I play the ps1 directors cut or the GameCube remake.

My laptop can't run the new hd one so don't suggest that.

REmake is probably the best way to play this game in the current year.

Both in release order

So GameCube one then?

Yeah.

Play the original/DS remake for the hilarious voice acting and to play the first game in the franchise. Then play the Remake to appreciatie how much better it is then the original.

Play the PS1 version first.

REmake's a fucking masterpiece but you will truly appreciate what it improves if you play the PS1 game first. Any other answer is a retarded underb& that never played RE1.

Seconding this. I didn't play RE1 and REmake until much later but I played in release order and don't regret it.

No. Both are different enough to warrant a playthrough. Non-dualshock DC has the normal music. The DS version is probably the best of the very original.

director's cut sounds weird

>Resident Evil: Director's Cut: DualShock OST
There's your problem retard. The non-dual shock director's cut exists.

Yeah well I just wanna play one and then then move on to the second game so if it's only one playthrough choose GameCube.

Seconding the DS version. In the PS1 version you have to swap between your guns and knife but in RE DS you get a knife button. You can also skip the room transition scenes. Both are welcome changes that still preserve the experience. Worst offense of the DS version was changing the guns' names to generic names.

>I want to rush my way through the series
You'd probably have skipped RE2 entirely as well if the RE2make was out. Plebs will do what they wanna do.

play the REmake on gamecube.

it's just the superior version and I would find it a waste of time to experience it in any other way. The original has quite a few nice surprises which the REmake includes and it puts it in nicer overal package.

What's your point man?
I don't play single player games I just have a couple weeks where I only have my shitty laptop so I wanna emulate some old games.

>Play videogames
>Still calls other people pleb
Lmao :)

Why even make the thread? It's clear you were already set to play the REmake and just wanted confirmation. Get along little doggie.

(You)

This isn't the way to do it.

No? I would play what people suggested?

I don't give a shit about the graphics I just want to play the superior game

>would play what people suggested?
Is that why you hopped on the first confirmation of REmake and said gamecube it is? They're both great and like I said, different enough. You're honestly missing out by not playing either.

sage

Well remakes tend to improve things about games you know making them the superior modern experience.

Not all remakes though, so if people say that the remake is better I would tend to believe the remake is better. But in. It arguing this anymore.

If I really love the remake I'll give the ps version a try. Just for you friend.

Resident Evil games are usually seen as inherently clunky today anyway. The improvements are honestly really in tone and atmoshere. The two are like day and night.

play REmake

How did I fucking know this would be the comparison, without even clicking the links.

The Gamecube remake which also had a port to the Wii, both are the same.

But if you really want to try the original I suggest the DS port which had many new features on the rebirth mode.

Don't play the director's cut version, is shit. The original release and the DS version are good.

Play both original and REmake, both are good and short games.

Emulate RE2 as your first RE. It was a lot of people's first RE outside of RE4, it sold almost 5 million copies.

RE2 has the quality of life adjustments to solve the things that made OG RE1 a bit of a pain. Play RE2, then the 1996 RE1. Go Director's cut afterwards as a bonus. THEN play the REmake.

You'll really appreciate the games that way, I think.

No, 1 sets up 2 perfectly.

>This whole post

Fair point. But then OP should specifically find the Directors Cut non-dualshock edition for the lock-on feature alone and without the music being ruined.

Fucking idiot. I'll say it again so that you and the people in the back can hear. That's Dualshock Edition not Director's Cut.

>dualshock edition
Fuck off retard
Play the DC PS1 first.

...

REmake

I hate underage fags.

This is the only correct way to play the first 5 good RE games. Play the PSX RE Director's Cut. NOT the Dual-Shock version. Then play RE2 Dual-Shock version, followed by RE3. REmake next, and finally RE4.

Why RE2 Dualshock version?

>t. never played Dualshock version

t. underage

No, you can't appreciate the changes without playing the original. Its also not that fuckiong hard to adapt to it old "clunky" gameplay. RE1-3 have probably the best tank controls of the early earliest 3D console gaming era.

t. underage triggered soyboi

>Why RE2 Dualshock version?
It has quick turn.

>It has quick turn.

Doesn't it come with more postgame bullshit?

>Doesn't it come with more postgame bullshit?
A shitty Arrange version where the only difference is they give you some powerful weapons after beating the game, and unlocks Easy mode. Nothing really worth the title of Arrange. The RE1 Director's Cut Arrange is practically rearrange all the key objects, and certain ammo placements. Far more fun, and a good challenge to someone who hasn't played that version of the game enough.

Yeah, I played RE1DC's arrange mode just a few days ago. Despite playing the 1996 edition and remake loads of times, I really appreciated the shakeup of the key items. Felt almost like a new scenario.

>Recommends RE Director's Cut
>Not appreciating the horror inducing RE Dualshock OST

>Felt almost like a new scenario.
Yeah, I must had replayed both versions so many time. I still enjoy the the. It is always fun experimenting how well you can avoid the enemies, and save shotgun ammo for mid-late game just to only have to carry 1 weapon + ammo in your inventory.

I have all the versions o the first game. I love Resident Evil. It will always be my first, and favorite survival horror. Don't get me wrong. I'm just telling user my best overall way to play for gameplay purposes.

The dualshock soundtrack unironically fits the game better. Play the gamecube version if you want to be scared and play the dualshock version if you want to laugh at a cheesy b movie. All other version are obsolete.

What's your favorite version and why is it the GCN version?

Yeah it actually sounds like a Japanese horror game, compared to the original.

youtu.be/0jiKienmRiQ

Listen to how Silent Hill was, people on Sup Forums nitpicking the ost even though they probably never even played the DS version.

I honestly still prefer the original version more, because I've played it more. REmake is close second overall. The only thing I had against it was the better serious take with the voice acting. Coming off after getting the corny Leon Kennedy in RE4, they decided to REmake being a more serious game.

>people in the back
Fuck off with this Reddit tier shit

Have you tried playing it with the PSX voice acting mod?

>Coming off after getting the corny Leon Kennedy in RE4, they decided to REmake being a more serious game.
I'm not sure what you mean here, REmake predates RE4 by nearly three years.

you're both complete and utter idiots

>Coming off after getting the corny Leon Kennedy in RE4, they decided to REmake being a more serious game.

REmake came out years before RE4.
