Also why are my temps so high?

those temps are not high

Long live Devil's Canyon

...

What GPU would you guys recommend I get?

...

There are a variety of factors for high temps

>dust
>not enough air flow in and out of the case
>fans not operating at optimum efficiency or not on
>cpu might need thermal paste replacement
>cpu heatsink might not be on properly

Also some games can cause a GPU to run at high temperature. I know for a fact that Xenoverse 2 can push my 970 to around 80 degrees

...

I'm and my PC collects alot of dust easily due to being under my desk but I do clean it out to a minimum every week and the end of every month I thoroughly clean it out. Why have I never reached such high temps?

>single-channel 16GB

nigga just off yourself

I have the same build as you except for the ram and storage :)

Pretty sure OP was joking about his low temps.

you actually clean it and/or you don't live in a tropical country

built this baby back in 2013, been looking to get a new GPU but trying to wait out these bitcoin fucks first. clean it out probably every 6 months or so

oh and my processor is also actually clocked at around 3.8GHz typically

What's wrong with that? Is there a setting I should change?

if you have two sticks of RAM consult your mobo manual to see how you're supposed to arrange the RAM on the motherboard itself
1-2-3-4 let's say are the slots, sometimes you have to install at 1 and 3 and not 1 and 2, or 2 and 4 and not 3 and 4

it's actually not that big of a deal, I'm just fucking around

but essentially single channel means you only have one RAM stick in your PC as opposed to the typical two or sometimes 3/4
all this means is that certain processes will run a fraction slower than if you had dual channel

btw look into what settings you should have your RAM at in your BIOS, I know for gaming 800MHz is typically seen as the standard

It said 1 and 2 so that is what I did.
I had no idea

Guys, after the new year, I'll be going the i5 8600k route with 16gb ram. Which monitor and CPU cooler should I get?

I think you fucked up, try 1 and 3.

Upgrade to Windows 10 first.

I did initially and I ran into issues and I read the manual and it said 1 and 2 so I changed it and everything was fine until now I find out this single channel stuff

You know 8600k is deprecated? Intel's coming out with 9000 series.

Just look at your motherboard manual and it'll tell you what slots to use when inserting RAM.

Post screencap of manual's instructions on how-to RAM.

I'll wait for the 9001 series.

Yeah will do that with new SSD

Doin alright, can run all games on ultra at 60fps for now.

They are burried somewhere ever since I built it, I'll mess around with the RAM slots when I get a chance I guess.

yours is good but p hot for the winter time

>tfw when building this I thought to myself "I'll buy 8gb more when this shitty price drops down"
>tfw the price hasn't dropped but actually increased even more
>tfw RAMlet
and the GPU reaches like 90 on full load, dunno if that's acceptable or no, but don't plan to fiddle with thermal paste as long as the warranty is live

>that build
>that shitty screen
what the hell m8
>2047MB NVIDIA GEForce GTX 1060 6GB
what the fuck

>90

oh fuck user I start to flip out when mine is approaching 60. your bitch is boiling

Screen doesn't bother me, right now my order of shit is headphones>keyboard>monitor.

90C is quite a bit. Is your case getting proper airflow?

r8 my potato

it's a r9 280x btw

It wasn't yesterday, apparently I forgot to clean my dust filters for a couple of months, didn't make the impact I was hoping desu, doesn't reach 90 now, but 87 or so is basically 90 in the making
>60
what the hell ? are you sure it's on full load ?

How is zotac?

>Kingston
>Seagate

Everything else its ok, you might want to look for some cheap Haswells or look for a cheap used I5-4690K.
Or atleast a $15-30 I5-4460/4590.

I checked task manager and it says it detects I have two RAM sticks, could I just change something in BIOs to make it dual channel?

zotac is a cheap brand. Cards might run a bit hot and/or loud, but generally they're good enough

What's my bottleneck?

CPU, mobo, RAM > screens

Is your air exhaust blocked? My GPU is designed to never go above 79c and the highest I've seen it go was 75c since PUBG is unoptomized garbage.

90c is extremely hot. Something is wrong.

Try turning the computer off, then remove the RAM sticks (while still plugged in so the BIOS detects the change), then put them back. Perhaps the BIOS will detect the change and properly correct it.

The ones that are open to the world are clear and seem fine, but the red box shows like the separator between possible PCI slots and apparently blocks half the exhaust and I can't really do shit about it
Also only the GPU reaches high temps, the cooling in my case is pretty fucking good I would imagine (although a mATX "silent" case (Define Mini C) it has 2x140mm front intake, 2x140mm on CPU heatsink and a 120mm exhaust in the back), CPU never heats up, but GPU is bitchin hot when on load (1440p, high settings, recent games) although I still read online that it's not really the end of the world and logically thinking 90 degrees won't do shit for GPU components

Haven't upgraded this year

i too prefer playing at ultra 1080p than medium/high 4k

Finally bought a new monitor. It's pretty nice.

>1600
>165hz

Absolutely retarded, holy fuck. Enjoy your massive CPU bottleneck

Still no SDD, outside of that I'm happy with what I have, simple, but good enough.

I bought a meme gaming laptop.

How do I make my TV show the games? It only ever displays on the laptop screen even when set as bit the primary screen. I wanna just be able to close my laptop and play on TV with a controller

...

...

I also have a 3570k. With a modest overclock, a 1070 is just starting be bottle necked by my CPU. Probably the last GPU for this build.

superuser.com/questions/88548/prevent-monitor-switching-when-closing-laptop-lid

Kinda retarded that this isn't a built-in thing, but this works, I've done it myself. Just make sure to make it so the screen turns off 5 minutes after being inactive.

Hey build brother. Yeah the thing stopping me from getting a new CPU is the fact that 60% of my PC will also need replacing at the same time.

7600k
1070
1400p 144hz

on my laptop now, no speccy

This is my first build from a round two years ago.

oops 1440p

There's no CPU bottleneck, friend. I have the 1600 at 4GHz and my overclocked 1080 Ti is completely maxed out in anything more demanding than World of Warcraft. Enjoy falling for memes on Sup Forums.

Same. new board, new RAM new CPU. I'm thinking I might just keep this setup until the next major die shrink.

Fuck oz summer

cpu: sits at 4.3ghz
gpu: sits at 2112 core, no idea where the memory sits right now think something between 4500-4600
audio: standalone AMP and DAC

>i7
>1080
>1080p/60hz
You literally wasted 500 dollars in total (200 more than a i5 shit a fucking ryzen if that build is recent) and 300 more that a 1060 in most cases just to play in 1080p 60hz

Congrats

...

proc oc'd to 3.6 with stock cooler, this shit is fucking magical

forgot pic

Hello, fellow Gamers™!

>CPU bottleneck
>1440p

Top jej. Enjoy jerking your little Incel pindick to those 720p benchmarks, Pajeet.

>1070
>8gb single channel 800mhz ram
>shitty intel i5

jesus fucking christ the bottleneck is real

>all these high end pc's
>still bitches about games being too expensive and not on sale
FUCKING LMAO the state of pcbros, guess you need the extra cash for dem RGB ram sticks

>commenting on RAM speed in speccy thread
Are you lost? Where's your handler?

inb4 no hdd

I've noticed a little bit of microstuttering here and there, but not enough to warrant buying a new mobo and CPU for right now. The new GPU and monitor had given me immediate enjoyable improvements, however.

>when you can't burn money fast enough

Should I kill myself today?

>Implying most of the "AAA" titles released today are worth anything close to 90 dollars plus the 50 dollar season pass plus all the loot boxes you have to buy to unlock anything

...

Non sense you're among friends.

You're retarded.

>I'd rather pay 100+ dollarydoos for a half-assed EA turd that will die out in 3 months rather than spending the same amount of money on a PC part that I will be able to use for 3-8 years

Pro tip: placing AIO radiator tubes ABOVE your hardware ensures longer pump life span and cooler temps.

Just a third world poor fag passing trough

Are you under load? If you are, that's not high at all.
If you're not, is your room hot?

That is false for newer coolers from 2015 and on

Front or top there is pro and cons for both and it comes down to preference

Are you fuckin stupid?

more like you traveled to third world to get your PC out of the trash

this bad boy still has a few years left in it

OP was being sarcastic, you imbecile.

Are you?

These threads belong on Sup Forums.

"trough" and "through" are two very different words just fyi

...

its decent

also gc/wii games are getting 60fps patches now. you can play xenoblade in 4k in 60 fps. normally the game is locked at 30fps but they found ways around it.
