What went wrong?

What went wrong?

really shouldnt have centered the game around finding your black baby that you dont care about

it's an ok game

there's nothing really wrong with it, nothing really great about it

The settlements

Everything

nothing. i loved this game

Could have done without the voiced protag other than that nothing.

It was fum

Not an RPG.

No wonder NV fags hate it so much.

Like chum?

> Want to watch a hockey game
> Turn on a basketball game
> Complain it is a horrible hockey game

is the same as

> Enjoy oldschool RPGs
> Play a Bethesda game
> Complain it is a horrible oldschool RPG

No shit retards

Tell em bro

Die

It made too much money, thus proving to bethesda that the horrible game design choices they made were actually brilliant

Your stats don't matter as soon as you find a suit of power armor. It's sort of like Pokemon mega evolutions. It feels like you're improving your stats in order to be an inferior version of what you could be in power armor.

bathesda

>want to play a fallout game
>play a fallout game
>its not a fallout game

Who could be behind this post??

They merged perks and skills for some reason, the dialogue system was shit, the factions were poor in general and the side quests were just go to this dungeon and kill/collect x

Bethesda saw that gimmicky mods were really popular, so they made a game filled entirely with little gimmicks instead of actual quality gameplay.

It's not New Vegas

Settlements. Everything about them. How they work, what they do, making them, maintaining them, the amount of them. Everything.
Nate and Nora were simultaneously shittily written characters and shittily manufactured self inserts. Each of these things caused the other.
Guns were definitely more pleasant to use but everything else about them was shit. Models, sounds, the stupid legendary systems. Etc. Also > finally add grenade button but forget to add grenade key to VATS jesus fuck
Radiant questing is AIDS.
Shittily written story that doesn't make sense with shittily written characters that aren't annoying at their very best and are Preston Garvey, Cait and her garbage accent, and Deacons abhorrently awful jokes at their worst.
There are very few things that fallout 4 isn't shitty at.

Exactly how I feel. I've logged just as many hours as I did with 3 and NV, and enjoyed every minute. Yeah the voice acting limited the dialogue which sucked compared the previous games, but the gun play and exploration made up for it.

Also with a couple mods the settlement building was kinda fun. If they found a way to incorporate the settlement building with waves of enemies it would have been glorious.

Go back.

>Want to play new vegas
>play fallout 4
>complain that it isnt new vegas

FTFY

I didn't mind the Settlement building, but I did enjoy the RTS mod for new vegas

The writting is just god awful, the characters are so painfully generic and unbelievable they are like cartoons made by aliens who only concept of people comes from ficticious stories.

The combat is clunky as always and for a shooting game to have invisible blockage in every corner of every geometry is just unforgivable.

The art style suffers from a heavy cartoonization and lightening of the tone, its the same treatment diablo3 got from diablo2.

The sound is ok, the voices too if you give actors the excuse to the crap they had to work with.

Gameplaywise there are good ideas but it was all dumbed down coming very close to being a mineycrafty desert survival but with gore.

Enemies are dumb as fuck, everyone is dumb as fuck, bulletsponges, you are a bulletsponge too everyone takes forever to die and its just boils down sometimes to two people within 5 meter shooting each other in the face repeteadly until one dies.

The highier difficulties increase the bulletspongeness factor but remove your bullet spongeness so thats fun and challenging right?
no todd, it isan't, often you just cheese the a.i. into a corner of geometry that they can't walk around or shoot through and waste in-game day shooting them to death with your best gun.

The building mechanic is cool, although settlements are not attacked as they should and consequences for an attack are very minimal, wasted potential.

Where to?

Not a fallout game?
I believe that matter was settled by the Supreme Court in the landmark case Autist v Reality.

The late Justice Scalia summed it up best in his Majority Opinion when he said and I quote

"Your 4 hour youtube video is not a legally binding document retard"

Nothing, NVfags are just people who pretend to like a shitty game.

Why did they not make the institute good.
You Have them build robots that don't know they are robots and replace small parts of the population.
Then build a robot workforce to build up any secret factories/mines.
Build a Fuck huge army and workforce.
Then take control of citys with spies and force and guard them with robots from any bandits/muties.
Worker robots rebuild restore and farm.
Then have them constantly in fight so the people running the institute want different things one wants to genocide and rebuild one wants non hostile takeovers but at the same time they are replacing people far to much and another is trying to clone humans. (sorry this is part is fo3 tier writing but make it more complex so that each one is equally fucked up after you see how they run things)
But they will in fight till you come and pick and win a side or just destroy it.

dude Minecraft lmao

There were some interesting side quests, but they were short and few inbetween. The main quest is better off not existing.

Perks became collectathon. Increasing Special stats uses the same resource as upgrading perks.

Settlements are nice in concept but is far from complete. Everything looks like a run down shack and there is not much practicality. There is no point in making a strong settlement when raiders can still bulldoze the place without your presence.

The 'cities' are just pathetic.

None of the companions were memorable.

They want to stay underground as the surface is a shit hole, they mostly only to the surface for materials. They already have synth infiltrators and control Diamond city and their bird army. They could have used more fleshing out

Nothing, it was a pretty good game.

Settlements. It made Fallout from a series that made you want to make a new character to try out different quests in a different way to something you want to keep only one character of because starting a new character means all the shit you built up in one save is all pointless. In Fallout 1 I can star the game with a character that has max luck and go get rich through gambling, or I could go get a high energy weapons guy and rush the glow for some of the best equipment in the game. Meanwhile Fallout 4 it's all the same blurred crap.

...

The fanbase

>caesar
>not house

>House
>Not Yes Man

I just did an institute play through and they never really explained why synths were necessary. The robots you meet in the wasteland could do the labor and security they currently use synths for, so why make something that has a risk of running away? especially when a viable less risky alternative has existed for quite some time

NCR was the villain of NV tho

It's to kill off people in the Commonwealth and replace them with synths so the Institute is always in control

Who says that?

Is there any in game info where that's stated?

The story is horrendous and is completely lost if you play as Nora.

No matter how large your settlement is it has zero bearing on what goes on in the world

...

It's a game of very confused priorities

it was called fallout 4

...

...

fpbp

...

jesus christ

At least Father isn't spouting as much cringy bullshit as Caesar.
>long term sustainability of Rome

>long term sustainability of Rome
versus what? replacing some random jack off in waste with a synth and never telling the player because Emile sucks at writing

It all began when Bethesda bought the rights to Fallout instead of Troika.

>DUDE LIBERTY PRIME IS BACK LMAO
>DUDE LETS JUST REVERSE THE STORY FROM FALLOUT 3 LMAO
>DUDE LETS REMOVE ROLEPLAYING MECHANICS FROM AN RPG SERIES LMAO
>DUDE SEASON PASS LMAO

Underrated post

...

nailed it, im still desperate for a mod that removes the baby plotline altogether

What heartens me is that the guttersnipes from NMA will all die from old age soon, thus leaving the true fans to reclaim the wastes like Vault Dwellers out of the caves.

>5 minutes of clicking through dialogue and speech checks
>get railroaded into every scenario anyway because as soon as quest starts dialogue trees pop up with the 5 named NPCs in the settlement or you just randsack one of their containers to bypass the dialogue
>second option of killing Papa Khan is actually (or should be) a whole different quest yet it somehow made it into this list
>every part of dialogue is laid out as separate objective in NV, even refusing to kill Papa Khan

...

A concept that already failed nearly 2000 years ago is worse than an unexplained concept.

The Roman empire lasted over 1000 years

Holy Rome and Byzantium don't count.

far harbor was cool
nick valentine was cool
rest was doodoo

Byzantium does count

...

Byzantium is literally the same thing though.

Simple.
Bethesda wanted to make Fallout's FPS and action elements better.
By doing this, they made the RPG elements worse.
The end result was a shitty RPG that's a below average FPS, rather than a below average RPG that's a shitty FPS.

...

Yes it does brainlet, read a history book

...

They were nothing but a catalyst for the Crusades

It's an fps masquerading as an rpg.

I'm agreeing that Byzantium counts as the Roman empire, the capitol was switched to Constantinople before the western empire fell.

>A concept that already failed nearly 2000 years ago
A concept that MAY work in a post-apocalyptic society

Again, read a history book

removed any sense of making a complete character

Hurrka durr, humpdety-doo to you as well.

I know, I quoted the wrong nigger

Something you Legionfags could do as well.

the roman republic was a becon of national pride that stood for centuries, increasing it's size nearly two hundred times from the early days of the roman kingdom. The roman empire barely grew and began the day that Julius Caesar decided not to obey an execution order (his own)

the empire WAS the fall. please do not use the empire as an example of civilization done right. the roman empire was rome after it betrayed it's foundation myth. The foundation myth (romulous and remus found rome, remus breaks the law and gets executed) was the grounds for everything they believed: NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW.
once assassination was commonplace the consuls and eventually emperors did whatever the fuck they wanted. the senate would plot and scheme and eventually the plebeians were given their own senate to play around in and wouldn't you fucking know it they voted themselves more money and everything went to shit as a result.

Pros:
shooting and combat was fun
looting and exploring was fun
modifying guns and robots was fun

Cons:
dialogue choices were ass
story was ass
quests were ass
settlements not being optional

it's a fun shooting adventure game, but an awful rpg

>implying I don't go independent/house

I still remember my first playthrough

>Decided to go the Railroad route
>Forgot I was supposed to infilitrate the Institute
>Refused to join like a dumbass
>Oh shit, let's ask Mona how to proceed
>That was our only shot, it's up to the Minuteman now

Fucking seriously? If I want to go the Minuteman route I would have done that already. Not like it isn't already shoved into our face. I don't even remember why Minuteman was able to do it but the Railroad couldn't.

I choose to believe The Courier in the Independent ending is actually The Emperor.

Wife's son you mean?

The DLC seems shit, one or two of them is for building shit, right?

I personally feel they went for the wrong tone, mainly. Where 3 and NV had an empty feeling to the wastelands, 4 tried to make you mourn a world you never knew, and could never know, because even just going to that Veteran's Hall thing would have taken way too long for an intro
And besides, if you knew anything about pre-war america, its honestly better gone. Maybe it could have done with a non-nuclear removal, but it still needed to go and stay go

>one or two of them is for building shit
3 workshop DLCs
Far Harbor was great

Nick valentine was way better than he had any right to be

>siding with the railroad
go liberate some hipster's Ipad or something

literally this

then why was Augustus the first Emperor and NOT Julius?

They made a shitty game
