The voices in Sonic Adventure forever killed Sonic's cool factor.
The games would be really cool if they created larger, more intricate hub worlds, and had the complete removal of slow characters.
Like them. I only played SA2 for the first time fairly recently as well.
The pinnacle of sonic games anyone who disagrees has plebian taste
go play mario 64 and come back to me.
LIVE AND LEARN > open your heart.
no
the biggest shit i've ever played, and i played Sonic Blast.
SA2 is only good because of some Sonic/Shadow levels and the Chao.
Scratch that, SA2 is a shitty mini game attached to the better Tamogachi game.
Yes. You will understand when you get older.

Mmm, that pinball and throwback.
Still amazing to think that SA2 was so many people's first Sonic game and the way they first played the classic games was on those Sonic Mega/Gems Collection packs.
>CAN'T HOLLLD ON MUCH LONGER
>WHEN YOU CAN'T HELP BUT FOLLOW
Open your heart kicks so much ass and is inspirational, but Live and Learn actually has a deep meaning in it that can be applied to real life. This is a tough one Sup Forums
Seven rings in hand > the rest
odd choice senpai
Why did perfect chaos have the cool vocal song for phase 1 and the generic spooky music for phase 2?
Surely the opposite would have fit better? The way it was was super underwhelming.
I played SA2 in middle school
the Chao Garden was the best content
>tfw they did again in Generations.
A-Alright.
Both of them aged terribly. The best stages in both were the speed stages, but they're just one third of the actual game. The rest ranged from meh to awful. One example being Knuckles, especially since his gameplay got worse in SA2. On the other hand, I honestly want an Adventure styled game again, but without the other playable characters.
>cutscene revs up the vocal song
>song kicks in when the fight starts
Never understood why everyone had a problem with that. It'd sound really awkward to have the vocal theme rev up during the cutscene only to have it cut away to a completely different song. What I don't understand is why the music changes at all.

best hub music
1 > 2
And don't let anyone tell you any different.
Sonic Adventure 1 did a halfway decent job of translating Sonic into 3D while keeping the core gameplay ideas intact, but the level design was too linear to really take advantage of it.
Sonic Adventure 2 doubled down on linear hallway level design and pure speed, and that's pretty much all 3D Sonic has been ever since.
>M-MUH LINEAR
>M-MUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH LINEARRRRRRRRRRRR
Adventure 1 did the Searching and Shooting stages batter than adventure 2
Sonic is debatable as he controls better in adventure 1 is most instances but adventure 2 makes the light speed dash easier to use and generally has a larger moveset
Adventure 1 also has a plethora of awful ports getting worse by each release while adventure 2 doesn't have as many issues But fuck sega for making the Battle release DLC for the HD version
Oh trust me I already know Adventure 1 is superior
...
>MUH X
>Oh shit, he said "MUH X"! Now I can't say X is true anymore!
>Rank C
yeah shame that rank is based off rings mostly. actually going fast is pretty negligible. I just want a 3d sonic game where the levels are designed to be traversed like in that gif, and you have the freedom to choose which parts of it to use in order to maximize and maintain your speed.
Contrary to popular belief, the faster Sonic is going, the slower your inputs have to become in order to keep the weight of Sonic stable, thus the linear level design.

The strange irony about going "fast" on a racing circuit is that your technique is slow and measured.
Fun games.
I wish they kept how the characters worked in SA1 for SA2 though.
This is some slick shit. Wish Sonic would get his own version of New Donk City.
Why are the streets blue?
SONIC'S STREETS ARE NOT BLUE.
It was nice going back to it with the Dreamcast conversion mod. Never knew how much of a mess the DX ports were.
I'm starting to think it was Sonic Team's best attempt at translating the classic style of gameplay into 3D. The series has improved on different elements over the years, but the core gameplay itself was pretty much on point.
Can't say much for SA2 since I never played it as a kid. Only got onto it when the HD version released a few years back and I do remember liking it. Maybe not so much as SA1 but I should give it another try soon.
SA1 i dont care for. I dont think its bad but i feel like there is zero incentive to come back to it. Pretty good story, levels, and experience the first time though. Big is also very fun. However the controls are perfect
SA2 is much better in just about every way. I still come back to it all the time. Controls were slightly downgraded but still very good
Sonic Adventure 1 was a great game that has aged decently. The acting was bad, the movements was bad but it was fun.
Sonic Adventure 2 has aged like milk, it was a BAD game, Sonic didnt control the same but worse like that weak spin, the story was beyond stupid, Tails/Robnik Levels and more.
Still they contributed to the series nicely
Better than boost.
Prefacing this post by saying I'm 100% a Classicfag; I like Adventure 1 in a guilty pleasure sense but I don't care for Adventure 2 at all. I feel the level design in SA2 is too focused on going fast for the Sonic/Shadow stages, the mech levels suck and they messed up the treasure hunting stages by nerfing the radar. SA1 has a much better balance between speed and platforming my opinion, Tails actually plays similar to the 2D games, Knuckles' stages are better, really I find it fun to play as all the characters besides Big and Gamma. Adventure 1 is hugely flawed but it did a lot right despite its clunky execution in my opinion, while SA2 was a step in the wrong direction. If they ever make another Adventure game I hope they take more inspiration from 1 than 2.
>If they ever make another Adventure game I hope they take more inspiration from 1 than 2.
They tried that with Sonic 06.
Emerald Coast - Wave Ocean
Windy Valley - Kingdom Valley
Ice Cap - White Acropolis
Red Mountain - Flame Core
Final Egg - Aquatic Base
Shadow ruined the entire franchise
If SA1 had SA2's engine, it would be the best Sonic game without flaws.
Chao Gardens. Awesome multiplayer. Cringy awesome Sonic storytelling
Just with the music 1 crushes 2.
SA2 had a much shorter developement I think. I can tell that they tried to be clever with some design choices that ultimately came off has a downgrade.
1 has better Sonic gameplay.
2 has multiplayer and a better Chao Garden.
They were both fun steps in the wrong direction.
Sonic Heroes had way more potential and deserves a 2nd game.
Shadow saved the franchise.
Maybe in an alternate timeline where there was no tedious melee combat, the physics weren't shit, and you could play as the Flight characters without carrying your team.
It's based on enemies and combo more than rings.
I'D RATHER FLEX MY MUSCLES
>M-MUHHHHHHHHHH PHY-PH-PHYSICSS
>M-MUHH PHYSIIIIIIIIIICS
Yep. Stuff that's important in a game where you move around.
Tails/Eggman levels gave me cancer and Knuckles/Rouge levels gave me AIDS.
SA2 had some pretty good g2gfast levels but really that first song was the biggest redeemer.
>you
Generations is objectively the best Sonic game of all time. Debate me.
Half the game is shit though, Classic Sonic controls like shit.
They're just as bad as Sonic 2006. I bet Sega was absolutely confused why people ate Adventure and asked for seconds but didn't swallow 2006. Everything that is bad about 2006, including the city, the terrible gameplay, the god-awful gltiches, is also in Adventure.
I thought about creating such a game, then I remembered I was lazy af
Sure does feel like a godsend after going back to it from Forces. Far from perfect but at least enjoyable.
>basing your entire opinion of a game off of one gif
Tried the first one the other day and I really don't get why it gets so much praise.
It literally feels like an unfinished game.
