Now that the dust has settled, why was Fallout 3 the best in the series?

...

you misspelled Fallout 2

>Fallout 3
Literally any other fallout is better

I don't think you'll find many people who agree it's the best, but it was pretty good imo.

I enjoyed it more than NV anyway.

Because it doesn't railroad you like New Vegas does. You can leave the Vault and explore the wasteland without ever going to Megaton at all.

Kys nufags -_-

TOP KEK

git gud.....

You can go straight to Vegas if you wanted. You just have to run past the deathclaws.

not an easy task

>new vegas' map is empty and boring but fallout 3's isn't. fuck off

but fallout 3's main quest is literally a railroad, and if you're just talking about the game map, you can go anywhere from the start in new vegas also

>tfw you walk in a random vault and hear "Gaaaaryyyy" for the first time
New Vegas could never hope to have anything atmospheric like this.

I AM SILLY
Still mostly accurate.

>greentext fail
Hello nu Sup Forumsegas fag

Fuckin' saved for the next time I run into a NV shill

It's better than New Vegas.
Better DLC too.

This
Nu vegas and failout 3 babies will never understand role playing as a cockslut

Agreed. Even 4 is better since it has tolerable gameplay.

Fallout 3 >>> Nu Vegas

>not an easy task

Is that a bad thing?

Yeah and if you try to go north or east from Goodsprings at low level you just get destroyed by cazadores and deathclaws

...

no I'm not saying that at all. I love NV. I'm just saying that's not an easy thing to do.

Watching people try to defend Todd's game is a hoot

Fallout/Fallout2 > Fallout: New Vegas > dogshit > all the others

Skyrim was best

Reminder that Fallout New Vegas was made on a time limit and the finished product was incomplete. Not to mention the game was made on the abortion known as the Gamebryo engine. Bethesda is the reason Fallout NV wasn't the greatest game of its generation instead of being a mere masterpiece that it is.

>Calling tactics worse than dogshit
Nigga did you just...

It's funny, you wrote all those words but all I'm reading are excuses.

>Agreed. Even 4 is better since it has tolerable gameplay.
this. The stories are about equally bad but at least 4 had a couple more factions to choose from and better shooting. And it looks way better, 3 has that patented Oblivion-era shittiness to it PLUS a green filter over everything

>mfw a Bethkiddy tries to defend Fallout 3 near me

Make a 10/10 game in a year in a half then. And make sure it not only lives up to the expectations set by fallout 3, but also surpasses them.

Majora's Mask and Sly Cooper 3

should have specified that tactics wasnt included in that

Thanks for the clarification

k now i know you're trolling thank you for confirming my suspicions

Doom 2

>he can't kill cazadores with dynamite and drugs

Are you high? Both of those games came out roughly a year after their previous games and were significant improvements.

>YOU ARE OUT OF UNIFORM SOLDIER! WHERE IS YOUR POWER ARMOR?!

i disagree

What power armor?

...

Just because something is possible once doesn't make it applicable to all situations.

Well there's that thing we don't like talking about called "Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel"...

It's okay user, we're all wrong sometimes.

oh shit

F3 and BoS are on equal playing fields

Saved for future Obsidiots

As much as I don't like 3, no, not even close.

>*takes breath*
>FIVE HUNDRED YEARS

except i'm not because opinions are subjective. it's a fact that fallout nv was a rushed product and was incomplete. it's a fact that there is a great rpg hidden under a decidedly shitty game engine. See the difference between objectivity and subjectivity?

Why are you making an ass of yourself? New Vegas and 3 play exactly the same and have equally terrible stories. I suppose NV is in the same league as BoS too, right?

I was talking about your saying MM and SC3 were somehow not superior to OoT and SC2 despite coming out only a year later

>DON'T HAVE ANY? YOU EXPECT ME TO BELIEVE THAT, MAGGOT? THE TRUTH IS YOU LOST AN EXPENSIVE PIECE OF ARMY-ISSUE EQUIPMENT. THAT SUIT IS GOING TO COME OUT OF YOUR PAY, AND YOU WILL REMAIN IN THIS MANS ARMY UNTIL YOU ARE FIVE HUNDRED AND TEN YEARS OLD, WHICH IS THE NUMBER OF YEARS IT WILL TAKE FOR YOU TO PAY FOR A MARK II POWERED COMBAT ARMOR YOU HAVE LOST! REPORT TO THE ARMORY AND HAVE A NEW SUIT ISSUED TO YOU, THEN REPORT BACK TO ME, PRIVATE! DISMISSED!

New Vegas has the best RPG story ever told, though.

...

>NV
>terrible story

Are you one of those people that thinks tracking down Benny is the whole story?

right. it's my opinion that majora's mask is not as good as oot. i still deply enjoy mm but i enjoy oot more. never played sly cooper desu would you reccomend it?

"Fuck off, nigger" said the pot to the kettle.

I don't know what's worse, saying the story is terrible or suggesting it's equally as bad as Fallout 3's (which is patently untrue no matter which way you look at it)

You misspelled fallout 1

>oh come on. You can't possibly believe that. The first two fallout games were way better.
This comic might actually have something reasonable to say.
>plus, new vegas wasn't even better than 3...
I guess not

>This comic might actually have something reasonable to say.
Honestly, user, when has this ever been true?

Are you one of those people that think New Vegas' writing is good?

Skip Sly 1 but 2 and 3 are 100% worth it. Sly 4 is also really good but has a few missteps.

Wait, so you seriously believe NV has the best rpg story of all time?

At least 3 didn't suck Elvis' cock like NV did, cause that was one of the "super interesting factions" you could join

No, I'm not even the same poster.
But posting an image like that when literally the very post before is claiming that NV and 3 have "equally terrible stories" as anything but bait is laughably hypocritical, since that's untrue any way you look at it - which you'd have understood if you had read the rest of my post.

Your comment is so poorly written I actually have no idea what exactly you're trying to tell me.

But 3 did suck Liam Neeson's cock

Wouldn't you?

Someone who worked on NV must have a fucking Elvis fetish the amount he's shoved into the game. Neeson voices a main character who doesn't appear in most of the game.

>theres a lot of elvis stuff in new vegas
>there is little dad stuff in fallout 3
are you retarded?

>single minor faction you don't have to interact with is somehow comparable to casting Neeson as your dad, forcing interaction with him for half the main 'plot' and having the narrative and half the wasteland fellating him

If you're playing a fallout game for the main story you're doing it wrong. The elvis stuff on the other hand is a major part of the game that you basically can't avoid because it's one of the biggest factions on the strip, where you will be constantly because NV doesn't actually want you to explore.

I only became aware of the Kings on my second playthrough. It's very easy to avoid.

You don't have to interact with the Kings at all.

>The elvis stuff on the other hand is a major part of the game
That doesn't make it a "major" part of the game no matter how much you keep repeating it.
>that you basically can't avoid because it's one of the biggest factions on the strip
It's completely avoidable, and they have a single major questline - which you have to start yourself by walking into a building - with minor hooks and interactions with a couple of other quests, comparable to any of the casinos.
>where you will be constantly because NV doesn't actually want you to explore.
Also wrong, you supercilious fuck. For that matter the Kings aren't even on the Strip, which is where you'll be when you don't want to explore.

>we will never get fnv remastered

>which is where you'll be when you don't want to explore.
>not wanting to explore in a FO game

>If you're playing a fallout game for the main story you're doing it wrong
holy shit the state of bethesdafags
>it's one of the biggest factions on the strip
they are in freeside retard
>where you will be constantly because NV doesn't actually want you to explore
youve either never played the game or are baiting

I remember the first time I played any fallout game at all was the first one. I had quietly wandered into junktown just looking to consolidate loot and caps. It wasn't long before gizmo and killian were trying to rope me into their faction war. I wasn't interested and tried to maintain nuetrality but gizmo pressed in a way that annoyed me, so I shot him as he sat behind his desk and worked my way out of his casino sparing no lives. Killian wasn't pleased with how indiscriminately I solved his problem so I killed him too. In the end, I left junktown as a ghost town as quietly as I had came in. This was the most satisfying emergent role playing I had played at the time. Fuck your joinable factions, fuck your cinematic experiences, and fuck your shitty first person shooter games. I just want to play a role playing game.

Nice argument. Fuck off, you disingenuous shitposting faggot.

>It's completely avoidable, and they have a single major questline - which you have to start yourself by walking into a building - with minor hooks and interactions with a couple of other quests, comparable to any of the casinos.
Fuck you, the Kings are in Freeside which is part of the cancerous mass of loading screens that is the Strip

Still waiting for my Fallout 1 remaster

I love fallout 3 fags. They are so cute sometimes.

Kings are only important if you are a poorfag, even then you can still easily get past the securitron guard.
Literally killed all of them on one if my earlier playthroughs because they tried to charge me for water and walked into the strip like nothing happened.

This says it all, this post kills the nufallout fags

...how is that relevant to any of what you quoted?
Anyway, the whole point of Freeside is that it isn't the Strip. Saying they're the same doesn't make any more sense than saying that land and sea are the same because they're connected.

I'll give you that my memory blanked on Freeside being seperate from the Strip itself but I remember spending so much time in Freeside that my memories of the two places merged together.

You can kill quest givers in New Vegas too. But please do tell me how you completed Fallout 1 by staying completely neutral.

You misspelled Wasteland 2

>replayed F1, F3, and NV a couple of months ago
>realized what the atmospherefags were talking about in regards to F3
I have to be honest, for as much shit it gets wrong, at least Fallout 3 still stuck to the original games' aesthetics for urban architecture and desolate open areas. I also noticed that they used multiple subtle filters depending on general environments, which was pretty neat. However, many of the filters themselves were still as lousy in actual quality.

reminder that nobody actually plays fallout 3 anymore because it sucks ass

That's fair enough, I should've realised you just meant Vegas as a whole town. My point was just that if you were exploring as little as possible (as the original poster suggested) you'd be less likely to run into the Kings than otherwise, since you'd be fast-travelling directly to the Strip.

Are there seriously people who play these games and don't explore? It's kind of blowing my mind if that's the case, why even play these games?

Atmospherefags just like that there are wrecked buildings to find caps in and enemies to shoot around every corner.

As opposed to New Vegas where you can... what could you do in NV again?
